I think it could still work. Like, a death of a loved one caused the surviving family members to become resentful towards the adepti but over time, the resentment just turns into skepticism, though, Keqing's own modern logic does also play a part in her own skepticism

@@KoiinuNeexcept keqing actually has a valid reason for her views that doesn't have to include past tragedies. according to keqing's voicelines, she does acknowledge to the good things rex lapis does for liyue, but she also thinks that archons shouldn't be held in higher regards than humans. she also thinks humans are better at leading the nation, since unlike rex lapis who only comes down once a year, the qixing actually oversees the liyue harbor daily, so humans understand their fellow humans more.
i actually agree with keqing's views even if she doesn't turn out to have past tragedies about it bc it just makes sense even without it.

There are stories of families who have warred for so long that they have forgotten why they were at war to begin with! I wouldn't be surprised if the family's skepticism was passed down, but the reason why is forgotten!

This does make sense as every other character who is related to another character, especially the unique model characters share appearances scara with his little sister shougun, mother ei, and aunt makoto, Barbara and Jean, shenhe and chongun, kazuha and his ancestor that was friends with scara, nahida and her mum rukidavata, and possibly yelan and xingxu, keqing and qiqi have identical eye colour and neer identical hair color. Also, what is the general consensus on yelan and xingxu's family dynamic? Are they siblings, aunt and nephew like shenhe and chongun, or cousins because I doubt they are mother and son as yelan appears to be in her early to mid 20s where as xingxu is like 15
Yelan and Xingqiu look nothing alike, aside from an asymmetrical haircut. Also, Xingqiu only mentions a brother afaik. That one is a HUGE reach and not confirmed at all.
Yelan and xingqiu are just liyue hydros with the same barbers. Until more info comes, that's about it

Even if Qiqis story has long been forgotten, even by her family, that doesn't have to mean Keqings scepticism can't stem from it
See, even if Qiqi and her story have been forgotten, her family (or Yunlai) could still be sceptics because of it
The family might still hold onto a grudge they don't even know the reason for anymore
(Grudge isn't the right word tbh, I'm lacking a better one though)
Maybe the incident with Qiqi caused her family to stray from the gods/adepti, planting a seed for deep-rooted distaste/doubt/scepticism
And in current times, although not being able to pin point why, their family still holds onto that scepticism, maybe not as firmly as the first few generations (after Qiqi), but it's still there
And because Keqing is a very forward thinking person already, that scepticism had good ground to grow and flourish on

I have a feeling that Qiqi’s story quest is gonna be the saddest of all,like imagine with the help of Hu tao we bring her to that place between life and death from Hu tao’s quest and her parents are still waiting there for her,and she either goes to join them separating her spirit from the mortal realm in the process (dying) or she stays with us,ngl that’d make me bawl my eyes out
let me make it sadder: qiqi stays in teyvat because she believes baizhu needs her more than her family. her deceased family are all together, but baizhu is alone in the pharmacy and that's where she believes she is needed.

Yes!! I was waiting for someone to point this out. I kind of have this theory that the Yunlai name is a family name, and that the interesting part about it is that it started out as a Herb Gathering Family, and is now an Aristocratic Family, perhaps when Qiqi went missing, her family tried to look for her which by complete coincidence or perhaps part of their plan, raised their family status. And after so many years went by, they started of thinking that it’s time to start looking for a corpse, kinda ironic, right? They don’t know who Qiqi is because Qiqi was named by Baizhu, they only know Qiqi by her real name, which is completely unknown to us.

Yunlai is actually used as the name of the ocean around the harbor in the Chinese text. I took this to mean their sword styles are referencing an area, some “local style,” instead of some shared bloodline.

I've been thinking they were related since Genshin was still in the 1.X patches and I only just yesterday got around to outlining a fanfic about it. Now I see this video a day later.

This just made me remember when I joked to my friend that qiqi and keqing could be related because they had almost the same hair and eye color
I swor to myself to not doing any character quest and heng out until keqing is one of them.
My quest log is quite full... But thankfully, main quests are long and only split once in all of genshin (you had to do yuimja(?) and ayaka to continue)
I still think the qiqi death theory could work because in the popular and famous play by Shakespeare The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, the two families, the Montegues and Capulets are at odds with each other but for what reason they themselves don’t even remember, the death could’ve been what kickstarted the skepticism starting as hate and slowly fizzling out to skepticism since QiQi has been dead for so long. It’s neat to think that there family relations that make sense in a world like this, really shows that HOYO took their time in world building

Last night I got Qiqi while pulling for Hu Tao. I'm feeling a little better about it for some reason.
As an Asian, let's actually assume that the family has family gatherings whenever everyone in the family is free, now let's also assume that their families talk about anything including deaths, just imagine if they were great cousins or something, it would make sense logical if Qiqi's family complained to the bigger family about Qiqi's death to them that would start their mistrusting of the gods because, well, their was just a mistake that took the life of a great aunt which would make anyone upset unless if you're emotionless or just didn't care
Her skepticism could still be related in the sense that although the story itself may have been lost to time, the overall feelings her family shared towards the involvement of the adepti could have been passed down through the generations.
Tbh genshin is usually VERY strategic in how they design characters when it comes to colors. When they're related, you feel almost stupid in hindsight for not realizing it earlier (i didnt know jean and barbara were related for longer than id like to admit) or theres just NO doubt about it like with ayaka and ayato.
The purplehair/pink eyes thing feels like a very specific design choice to hint at this connection because pink is an accent on qiqi all over her outfit and eyes but on kequing its literally just her eyes.
i-i never realised they have similar color scheme
until watching this video i was strongly wishing that Qiqis story quest would involve her and Hu Taos relationship getting better...
now i want her back story to be looked up and have it work into Keqings story.

Well, since the word ancient was used, it is possible that the reason why it is just distrust is because the reason for aversion was not passed down...
The generations of the clan that were alive at the time might have held strong resentment, bringing up the next generations in culture of aversion to adepti, which mellowed out over centuries to Keqing being just rationally distrustful...

The real-world separation between religion and state refers to a "certain set of idealogy" being separated from the state.
For the Genshin Impact game world, Adeptus is not purely a "certain set of idealogy" when some Adeptus is also self-aware of intelligent people. In story lore, half-Adeptus/half-Human YanFei is a rival to Ningguang. A matured YanFei could one day replace Ningguang for Tianquan's position in the Liyue Qixing.
Like Zhongli's "contracts" idealogy, YanFei also has "contracts" idealogy in her own way.
And they both fly in form of a golden star to ruin my 50/50 :)
To be fair, I feel like Liyue's Archon Quest was more about separating tradition from politics for the sake of progress, already stemming from the fact that in real life, Religion is only a belief, while in Genshin, the aforementioned Religion is much more graspable, with magic, gods and the likes being openly known to exist and even walk among humans
