I have a pet theory that all the music in LotR is diegetic because it's being sung by the Ainur. It doesn't really add anything to the story but I love the idea.
Knowing that Gandalf knew that the balrog could’ve survived that, he decided to fall and kill him, he knew how dangerous the balrog is, and knowing that he is the only one capable of killing him at the moment. It’s just sooo epic
if the CGI holds up 20 years later, it'll hold up forever. The Balrog has some imperfections in it's animation, however it still looks fantastic because of how they shrouded it in smoke and darkness. Which is being accurate at the same time.
Gandalf kills the Balrog because it would have been a formidable powerful enemy if it were to side with Sauron. The elves of Lothrian are adept at facing orcs, but a balrog Of Morgoth?
@RedeemedByGodsLove They did do an amazing job. I've seen all three movies now with live orchestra, and this was the best performance, imo. Just flawless.
People complaining if the audience clap or not at these performances. Men, I live in Venezuela and here people fuc$ TALK in the theater during a movie. It doesn't matter how many people ask them to shut the fu%# up, it doesn't matter if you yell at them, maybe it will work for a few minutes, but they will start talking to each other again and laughing and commenting the movie out loud. Im seriously considering that the next time that there is a movie that i really want to enjoy, i will have to buy all the tickets to the movie so i can see it decently. I wish people clapping at the end of a exciting scene with a live orchestra was the problem.

A masterful opening by Jackson - and Howard Shore obliged with his own master stroke of a breathless score.
