I have to say, I really can't stand the type of websites you showed at the start. They're over the top and ooze style over substance. They're a designers wet dream, but to actually use, they're far too much. There's a reason why savvy brands don't have over designed websites and veer towards ease of use and legibility.
@@by_huy Thank you for answering :) Can I ask one more question? I decided to learn coding, and my goal is to make my own website. Which is similar to your achievement. How much have you learned? Where should I learn up to? I want set my goal clearly
To be honest. From the perspective of a developer, though the websites in awwards looks great. They are not seo friendly, due to the large amount of images and javascript that needs to be shipped. To be seo friendly, you need to have minimal design.
Yes these websites look great but they break so many UX heuristics and web conventions. And we haven't even seen how these websites respond to various screen sizes.
"It's not about you; it's about your inability to perform the task. If you're aware, you should know that, in the current time, almost anything is achievable."
Design isn’t always about being as optimised as possible. People aren’t APIs, we are sensitive to aesthetic experience in ways that we struggle to boil down to science. If you lube the shit out of everything you’ll feel nothing. I’m here for the ones that break UX conventions in search of beautiful friction - when I go to awwwards, that’s what I’m looking for.
I just had a recent big project of redesigning our homepage for the SaaS startup that I work out. I came across your video and found all these new inspiration pages, and it helped me create a homepage design that our CEO was raving about. You earned a new subscriber and a fan!
Thanks for sharing these resources…but man, then end where you imply that Behance and Dribbble aren’t used in the real world lol…what you smokin’ fool?
I think AWWARDS suck and Behance and Dribble are great. How can a place of reference suck? Awwards, is great for an artistic website, but not really a Client or user would use. Really it depends on preferences and what is considered good design.
These are some awesome resources, thank you for covering them! I agree dribbble and behance can be a bit cluttered, but both refero and minimal look great, so I'll definitely check them out.
thank you for sharing, a question I think it is also really important, how o where to learn skills for such animated websites? what would you recommend? I usually love animation and stuff, I cant find something to develop or to learn from a good resource the skills for animation though.
Great resources, thanks for sharing-didn't know half of them! Would also love to see a video about going from mood boards to first designs, always interesting :)
common youtube W for recommending this video also W video so thank you for sharing these high quality resources bro! you earned yourself a new subscriber :)
Can you actually get the css code from these website ? In case you are not a designer but a developer that don’t want to recreate everything from scratch
@@by_huy It could be just the different spaces? I mostly look at branding and most stuff that surfaces are real projects. Maybe the web space is different?
Great video! One suggestion: it would be great if you can show the name / url of the resource in the video itself when you’re introducing it. Saves people from stopping and checking the video description to look for how to visit it
Creativity is irrelevant, I do in-house AE projects and the big bosses always prefer bad designs over creative such. Sometimes you have to step back and do the work as the customer would like it.
I wouldn't say creativity is irrelevant but you can definitely achieve creative designs while satisfying clients. It just really depends what client you are working with.
Great content and layout. I really appreciate you explaining why the resources are good. I'm goin to use some of the info and resources to build my portfolio engineering site
Nice recording quality bro! I feel like I'm in a studio. I also highly recommend Dribble and Behan... (nvm I just rewinded the video and you said they suck xD)
Wow! Your video on designing award-winning websites is a game-changer! The practical tips and concise insights make it an invaluable resource. Thanks a ton for sharing your expertise, it's like a treasure trove for aspiring designers. Your channel is a true gem in the vast sea of content. Kudos and sincere gratitude for this enriching experience!
Very Insightful videos from you. Just a quick question:- what is the mood board all about ? Does it mean to include all your Inspirations in one frame ?
Hey Huy! I have a question for you. Do you think that starting as a a front end developer at a consulting company making boring looking websites can eventually help me to be a more "creative" developer like you. There's a a big segregation between designers and developers in the tech market (at least where Im from), but my absolute dream is to be a Full stack designer (design, UX/UI + development). thx :)
I think to a certain extent it would somewhat help to be more of a creative developer but the most important part is experimenting with creative development yourself, that way you can foster your creative development skills : )

All designers on that website know how to code? I want to make my web portfolio but I don't know how to code
You can take a look at low code tools like Framer or Webflow if you don't prefer to code
And also have a disruptive design can cause confusion on the users, bacause they expect that your website works like others
@@robertopatron2132 That is definitely true

Behance and Dribble do suck to me lol funny how you said it - exactly how I feel. not much inspo.
How do you create your mood board? I guess a short tutorial would be nice if you upload it.

Thank you very much.
I appreciate it!
You're saying Behance isn't used in the real world? It's not like some of the biggest studios on the world post on it or anything lol
Yea I agree some pro studios use it but the majority of what I see is a lot of impractical designs that are pretty questionable
@@by_huy It could be just the different spaces? I mostly look at branding and most stuff that surfaces are real projects. Maybe the web space is different?
This is so beast mode
BESAT MODE
