But after a week of using it, I keep finding reasons like how it feels writing on it, the color of it I like, the light I like, and so I keep trying to fight my brain that the good out weighs the bad with the size. The square shaped sides make it feel massive vs the reM2 considering they are so close in thickness. I don’t know, I want to keep the reMPP and use it, but I so miss the masterpiece of the reM2. Good video, glad I’m not alone with the thoughts on it. You are almost spot on with how I feel the pros and cons are.

I cannot afford the Remarkable Paper Pro as much as I wish I could. I ordered a Kobo Libra Colour as my main use is reading e books anyway. But there is a basic notebook feature, decent stylus, and basic color e-ink. For the price, I am hoping it’s a perfectly fine compromise.
It certainly doesn’t last two weeks like is advertised and depends how much you use the light. I use the light a lot and had to charge it after 5 days.
@@OrganisedByJoe So, 5 days of use, 2 hours per day. That gives us 10 hours of battery life with frontlight on. Not bad. Worse than RM2, but still not bad at all.
Part of me would love a mini device, but I love the keyboard case so much, I think I would always want it to fit a proper keyboard. I’m hoping the slightly larger keyboard on the paper pro will be even better than the 2 (tho I’ve been very happy with that one). I basically use my remarkable for typing and writing. And then I have a lil boox palma for reading. Not sure one device can ‘do it all’ just because the different sizes are good for different things ya know? Actually as I’m writing this, a mini remarkable would be cool to have on the go if it could sync well with the full size one 😅 maybe it could tile the pages from the mini when displaying on the full size…
Hi ! Did you notice the "wobbly / wavy lines" issue when trying to make perfectly straight diagonals ? It was mentioned on a single review and was pretty distracting. Actually, I did not keep the rM 1 nor the rM 2 due to the "distortions" when drawing, especially in the border. Thanks !! EDIT : oh ! you do demonstrate it on another video ! This is definitely a deal breaker to me, ouch. It means I cannot really trust the device for drawing etc. I am really surprised they changed the pen technology but that it got worse in some ways... I remember the wobbly line issue existed on the rM1/2 is the devices had been "magnetized" but they could be "demagnetized" manually.
@@Mahenounet Thanks for your comment, yes the straight lines are not so straight when not using the gesture as mentioned in my pen review. Definitely could be a deal breaker for artists using it for drawing.
@@OrganisedByJoe Yep ! I wonder if it occurs on all units ! (have you checked the videos of people who "de-magnetized" their rM 2 after it started making wobbly lines ? Thanks for you quality content, take care ! And thanks for your reply :)
Thanks for review. For this price the connect subscription should be 0$ for lifetime. Or sell the RM Pro for 350$ and sell the connect subscription on top. But for this high price + costs for connect subscription = fail.
I just cant justify the price compared to a Tabs7+ and above. I don't need the feel of paper in a digital world, i do love the calmness on the eyes but that's it. Being able to write notes via different note apps, switch between em all, swap to youtube, netflix, play classic games like final fantasy tactics and more all on the same device. However.... Eink is just a different world. If you love that calmness on the eyes and mind, worth every penny
Thanks for a balanced review. The noise sounds very loud to me, but I have sensitive hearing. Manufacturers can usually implement a design to limit the amount of electronic noise a device emits. For instance, my old Boox note Air was very noisy in use, my current Boox Tab C ultra has barely perceptible noise - I have to put my ear right next to it to hear - when changing doc pages. Apple mbps tend to immit less noise than Windows laptops but can vary. I dislike the Boox poor software design and poor commitment to product lifespan, so I was gonna try remarkable paper pro - Will hold off for now.
GREAT VIDEO JOE! But keep in mind, the Paper Pro will have a number of updates so many of the annoying UI or other issues will be addressed. Of course not everything will be addressed, but they will address what they can as they did with the RM 2. I have the RM 2 and I really like it, so this device looks good to me. Mine arrives Monday and I’m very excited. Great video.
I never write on my rM2 while holding it. I’m too afraid of dropping it! I’m very much looking forward to color for reading scientific literature. I’m afraid the flashing will be annoying/distracting. The noise might be a dealbreaker if i can hear it. Can’t wait until mine arrives! ETA, re price- this is like a fancy purse for both men and women. Obviously paper is less expensive and just as useful. This is a luxury item. The price compared to the price of the rM2 when it came out is not too far out
Thank you! I, too, love the pencil writing feel. Other reviews led me to believe the writing experience was more like writing on a tablet/iPad. I'm not a fan of a larger screen. My rM2 is a perfect size. I liken it to the difference in a hardback book vs. mass market paperback. A pro mini would just right😊 If I take the plunge I'll check out your templates!
Cool review, thank you! and still thinking of ordering, i heard shipping has been delayed for most people. The high pitch noise falls under the audible sound that human ear can hear. This is something remarkable failed to fix or unable to address during the design, for the price tag, this is unacceptable. It’s a hardware design flaw for the power supply, unstable when the device requires more power. Can be fix by software but at this stage, not sure how they will fix this.
I was about to hit the purchase button on this, but that high coil noise is such a breaking point unfortunately. Maybe in the next iteration they will not make something ear piercing that is a health concern.
YES IT WAS THANK YOU! If in the coming years they drop a new iteration I hope you will make a video on it then too just like this one. Have a nice day!
I really intended to buy it (remarkable2 user for years) but after seeing a couple of non-sponsored reviews, i will not. In my view, the PP shows where the technology of e-ink devices will go. But it seems not fully marked-ready and released prematurally. Edit: i dont care at all about the paper-like writing experience. I even exchanged my remarkable stylus for a third party one because the remarkable stylus is so horribly slim
If you don’t care about writing experience the I agree, remarkable probably isn’t the eink device for you! There are other devices which have better features focussed on other aspects.
Thanks for your video. After using my reMarkable 2 for four years now, I just ordered my Pro last Sunday. The screen size was not my main reason for buying, that were the color-feature and the frontlight. So because I do not have my device I ask myself if the template you are using in your video is pre-installed or did you bought it from another site? That template looks great! 🤩
@@OrganisedByJoe Everything's fine, I found your last video about the template and also the link to your Etsy store in the description. Since the Paper Pro hasn't been delivered yet, I bought your template for the reMarkable2 there - and I already love it, great work 😍 As soon as I get the Paper Pro in my hands, I'll buy the templates for it too 👍 It's a pity that I didn't know about your templates before...

Do you get a flicker with the colors? Mine flickers strangely and it feels like a flaw. Their support confirmed that they're all the same with flickering. The colors are also not that bright.
@@manalalbayat446 Yes I do, this is the screen refresh when using colours, you will notice it doesn’t really happen when using black. It doesn’t personally bother me but I we how it would bother some!
This is true with the boox, and all others. There is no current color e ink technology available on the market today that doesn't require constant screen refresh to apply the color. Both kaliedo 3 and gallery 3 screen (the one remarkable uses) require the refresh to stop ghosting. This only appears on colors and not black and white. All e ink displays that have color, remarkable or not do the same thing.
First thanks for the constructive review! I use currently the RM2 and love it, specially the feeling of writing and so on (you know it). May I ask you some things about the pro?! The RM2 is sometimes slowly in the handling, specially when you zoom in or out or switch to another document. Would you say, that this is more fast on the pro? What about the pencil, it has now a battery, is this an issue in the daily work? And can you use the RM2 and the pro simultaneously with one subscription and so also with the cloud? Thanks in advance, this would help me a lot with my decision! Greetings from Vienna Christian
Pinch zooming is still fairly slower than I like but faster experience than the rM2. The battery on the pen is totally fine, no issues. Im sure it would last for ages. both devices work great with the cloud, any changes seemlessly update on both devices. Thanks!
I very quickly came to love the writing feel of the RMPP. Like you I like the colours very much and I also enjoy the light (level 3 for night reading, levels 4-5 for dim rooms). But, the extras I get from my Boox Go 10.3 really show (what I consider to be) the limitations of the software on RMPP. Maybe that is what they are aiming for but simple quantity of life things like the range of document formats the device can read and the range of tools available in the notebooks take me back to the Go despite the positives of the Paper Pro and my desire to make the shift to remarkable.
@@davidr1431 Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I was toying with the idea of getting the boox go 10.3 before the rM announcement, as part of me wants the boox features but I want all this with the writing experience of the rMPP. Perhaps too much to ask!
@@OrganisedByJoe I’ve ordered some different nibs for my Lamy al-star which are supposed to have a different feel. The Go writing feel is good but the nibs I have feel more like a sharpy than a ball point.

No electronic noise for me ! But I don’t like at all the writing expérience and the noise pen does when it stroke the screen ! So much iPad like ! Speed and reactivity are not that improving from RM2, color is not a value added to me, especially at the expense of a gray screen with dark blue ink ! Considering the cons, the few pro and the price, I will not keep it, value for money is still with RM2 for me.
4:50 Sounds sort of like the sound effect they use for computers displaying text in movies. Hopefully someone is able to relate to this. My device is due tomorrow, so I will hopefully be able to check this in person soon.
@@OrganisedByJoe I cannot hear the sound on a page with a bunch of color drawing on it. Perhaps it depends on the content? I will say that I really really like the writing experience especially with the simple fine liner. No pressure or tilt to think about, just a simple path drawn, so you can write text with a very light touch. For writing notes, this is the pen for me.
The device has been designed to rest on a table, not on your arms. If used correctly, I don't understand why the larger size is an inconvenience; on the contrary, it's an advantage as it provides a larger surface for writing. If you want to use it while juggling, then no, a larger size makes juggling impossible. If you want to carry it from one place to another, it's always held by the wide side, not the long one. As for the sound when turning the pages of a PDF, I literally had to press my ear against the device to hear any noise in some instances. In fact, the sound of my finger sliding to turn the pages was much louder than any internal noise the device makes. At least in my case, during normal use, I hear absolutely nothing; to hear anything, I have to put my ear to the screen. It's curious that you highlight as disadvantages things no one pays attention to, yet you don't mention the major limitations of its software. The software on remarkable devices has the same functionality as a notepad, and little more. You can only write, draw lines, and load a couple of document formats, that's it. If it's a device aimed at work, it should read formats like Excel, Word, images, etc. And when writing, it should allow you to draw geometric figures to include graphs, tables, etc.-you know, the kind of things that are done in any job using office tools.
I dont need to press my ear against it to hear mine unfortunately, you can hear it from the other end of a quiet room. I understand ideally it is used on a table but there will be circumstances for most people where they are using it In their hand, including in their marketing campaigns showing this. As the the limitations of the software, I didn't go into this because that is what you get with a reMarkable, as this is their distraction simplistic selling point which I understand is a frustration for some. If you want those features then a Boox is probably the device for you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@OrganisedByJoe I recommend that you change your unit. My unit can't be heard at all when used normally, that is, with the head about 30 cm from the device. Regarding software, it's important to remember that this is the PRO version of the Remarkable, so its software must live up to hardware sold for professionals. We are not asking for Remarkable to connect to the internet, or for us to be able to install Android apps. What we are asking for is that its software provide a minimum set of tools that professionals use in companies, which is why they put the PRO in their product, because it's professional. Instead, we find ourselves with exactly the same software as the non-professional version, which does little more than draw freehand lines and view PDFs. Do you really think those are the features used in a business setting? All companies handle documents in Word and Excel format. Why doesn't Remarkable PRO allow them to be viewed? All companies use images to include in their documents. Why doesn't Remarkable PRO allow images to be included? All companies use charts and tables in their documents. Why doesn't Remarkable PRO allow them to be inserted? Let’s be serious and tell things as they are, not as they're being sold to us. Remarkable makes good hardware, but its software is not up to par-it's very bad. I’ve been using Remarkable since the beginning with the RM1, and over the years I’ve reported countless issues with their software. It’s taken them months, yes, months to fix very basic functionalities of a simple notepad. Over the years, they’ve managed to create a notepad that works more or less well, but that's all it is-just a simple notepad. Remarkable doesn’t know how to make software, and since they know it, in the marketing used to sell the Remarkable Paper Pro, they constantly say that their product is designed to avoid distractions. That's a lie. We're not fools; the real reason is that since they don't know how to make software, they try to cover up this major weakness by saying they did it intentionally. A professional company provides users with many more features and includes a simple button to disable them and avoid distractions. Since they don't know how to do that, they sell us on marketing, claiming they’re thinking about our well-being, as if we were children who don't know what we want, and strip away all the features so we won't get distracted. The Remarkable Paper PRO is like having a Ferrari with bicycle wheels-it has a very powerful engine, but the bicycle wheels prevent the Ferrari from going anywhere.
@@lorient9201 I have to agree. On the surface the paper pro seemed like a good buy for me until I've looked into what it can do. I would love to be able to read and annotate documents, textbooks or research papers on this kind of device, unfortunately even transferring files seems to be a hassle.
Good review ! But i do feel something important is still missing .. there are new tablets out that even have AI and i feel this one should have that too… and is the handwrite recognition good enough ? What OS, the bloody thing does one thing…a computer student could build that “OS” for a school project and only get a C grade
Thanks for sharing Your opinion after a week-long use. Could You tell us how is the battery life?
It certainly doesn’t last two weeks like is advertised and depends how much you use the light. I use the light a lot and had to charge it after 5 days.
@@OrganisedByJoe Thanks for a really quick answer! And how much is "a lot" in Your case? 2 hours per day, 3, 4?
@@Ekzuzy Yes I would say 2 hours per day!
Is it too much to ask to have all the features we want in one device? Haha, maybe one day!
I could hear the sound yours makes during the video but my unit does NOT make any sound when swiping pages in a PDF. Even in a ~750 page large PDF.
Thanks for sharing!
We have a lot of the same impressions. I'm returning mine
Fair enough! I can definitely see how it isn’t for everyone.
I love the rm2 but what I really really want is an a5 version. I’d take that over color any day
That would be nice size..
@@electriceyeslide5959 Thank you!
Really good review but the noise issue seems something specific to your device? Thanks!
A few others in the comments have the same issue, but not everyone!
great and honest review 👏🏻
Thanks!
The price compared to the price of the rM2 when it came out is not too far out
Let me know what you think when it arrives!
The back light noise is normal I also hear it on the scribe as well.
Thank you! I, too, love the pencil writing feel. Other reviews led me to believe the writing experience was more like writing on a tablet/iPad.
I'm not a fan of a larger screen. My rM2 is a perfect size. I liken it to the difference in a hardback book vs. mass market paperback. A pro mini would just right😊
If I take the plunge I'll check out your templates!
@@toniewalker4670 Thanks for the insight on this. I am thinking of sending it back and asking for a replacement once the backlog of orders are sorted.
I was about to hit the purchase button on this, but that high coil noise is such a breaking point unfortunately. Maybe in the next iteration they will not make something ear piercing that is a health concern.
@@Iog Glad my review was helpful! I am not certain the coil whine is present on all devices based off feedback in the comments
If you bought an original Remarkable 2, before they had a subscription fee, can you transfer that account without subscribing?
Yes that does transfer
@@OrganisedByJoeOriginal was RM1 😊
Thanks for your video. After using my reMarkable 2 for four years now, I just ordered my Pro last Sunday. The screen size was not my main reason for buying, that were the color-feature and the frontlight. So because I do not have my device I ask myself if the template you are using in your video is pre-installed or did you bought it from another site? That template looks great! 🤩
My pleasure, are you referring to my daily organizer? If so it can be found here: organisedbyjoe.etsy.com/listing/1778437898

Hello, is it possible to easily install the CALIBER library software?
Is it easy to use on the REMARKABLE PRO?
Thank you for your response
I am not familiar with this software unfortunately, maybe ask on Reddit?
@@OrganisedByJoe Hello thank you for your response. It 's impossible to install Calibre on Remarkable Paper Pro .I just learned it
Do you get a flicker with the colors?
How easy is it to switch between pen colours?
Super easy, its an option on the toolbar
How does it compare to Boox Note Air3?
First thanks for the constructive review!
I use currently the RM2 and love it, specially the feeling of writing and so on (you know it).
May I ask you some things about the pro?!
The RM2 is sometimes slowly in the handling, specially when you zoom in or out or switch to another document. Would you say, that this is more fast on the pro?
What about the pencil, it has now a battery, is this an issue in the daily work?
And can you use the RM2 and the pro simultaneously with one subscription and so also with the cloud?
Thanks in advance, this would help me a lot with my decision!
Greetings from Vienna
Christian
Pinch zooming is still fairly slower than I like but faster experience than the rM2. The battery on the pen is totally fine, no issues. Im sure it would last for ages. both devices work great with the cloud, any changes seemlessly update on both devices. Thanks!
@@OrganisedByJoeThanks for your answer, this help me a lot! Have a great day! Christian
to compare prices with a similarly sized device... Boox Tab X is €1000
I've been hearing these noises from very beginning. I thought I own broken one.

I can hear that sound sometimes if I listen really closely, and not on every swipe. I probably wouldn't have noticed if you disn't point it out. Of course, i am super old (50 y.o.), so maybe that's why it doesn't bother me.

@@enlightenment00 Hello, what do you mean by lighting?
@@OrganisedByJoe The light inside the device, if you are reading in a dark place... My eyes have to struggle on r2 because the size and lack of light, unless I am reading in a very well lit area ofcourse... I read mostly old books in PDF so I need a good internal light to ease the reading process.

No electronic noise for me ! But I don’t like at all the writing expérience and the noise pen does when it stroke the screen ! So much iPad like ! 4:50 Sounds sort of like the sound effect they use for computers displaying text in movies. Hopefully someone is able to relate to this. My device is due tomorrow, so I will hopefully be able to check this in person soon.
Exciting, let us know how you get on!
Ideally i would like to have this RMPRO have also all my notes and / or marking in pdf have consolidated / put together in one summary note page, which some of the e ink tablets know how to do… this RMPRO might be still a bit dumb and expensive ? Any thoughts ? Thanks ( i owe the RM2)
