In case anyone needs full subtitles for the whole video, here they are. Im only going to be doing Jamie, Moose and Padge, as Matt knows his audience won’t understand him if he talks like we would to other welsh people, and so over the years as a frontman he’s lost his accent on purpose so that he is easier to understand. I’m welsh and live literally 5 minutes away from where they all grew up so to me the accents are just like any others but obviously to others it must sound like a lot of jumbled up crap.
Just some starting notes, we tend to miss a lot of words in sentences which is why we sound like we talk fast and don’t always make sense but I assure you, when two people with heavy welsh accents are talking to eachother, we can understand eachother perfectly.
Anyway
Jamie: “I’m Jamie Mathias”
Moose: “Last Fight is it?”
Jamie: “I was in a band, Revoker, met Padge a few years ago and uh... yeah he said Bullet were looking for a new bass player, so they were kind enough to offer me up to audition. I’m excited more than anything, and y’know obviously there’s a little bit of nerves because it’s an audition innit (innit means ‘isn’t it’) d’you know what I mean but..”
(sometimes we end sentences with ‘but’ if we have more to say but can’t think of it right that moment. Not to be confused with ‘butt’ which is a nice friendly term like bro or dude)
“Try not to y’know stress or y’know worry about anything it’s just y’know.. at the end of the day you’re just jamming with a few boys d’you know what I mean? That’s what it’s all about like”
(again, sometimes we end sentences with ‘like’ it’s sort of like a more punctuating way to end the sentence. ‘Y’know’ and ‘like’ are interchangeable in most cases, you can put ‘like’ mid sentence or at the end, just as you can put ‘y’know’ mid sentence, or at the end.
Moose: “Good, I enjoyed it. Yeah, it was Jamie, he used to play in a band called Revoker, come in (he came in) it was really good.
Studio guy: “Jamie didn’t miss anything it was like literally fucking spot on all the way through”
Padge: “I think he’s gonna being a really good edge to the band and a good vibe.”
Jamie: “Can’t wait butt, little bit of nerves but as soon as I get up now on that stage, first song done, that’s it.”
Padge: “[it’ll] Be like a rebirth I think, hopefully. That’s the way I see it y’know and uh.. I think that’ll be really positive moving forward. And interesting at the same time, because we get to do it all again now with a new member”
Moose: “ I bet you’re fucking pantsing them now aren’t you” (Basically saying I bet you’re shitting yourself)
Jamie: “No, I feel more calm now”
Padge: “Aye (yeah) happy first show butt”
Moose: “Welcome to the family butt”
Padge: “We get to redo everything, which is... it’s gonna be fun, it’s gonna be fun again. Which is I think, that’s maybe what we lost on the last record- fun element.”
Moose: “Just getting back into it. We haven’t played together as a band for a year. All these songs, all the old songs and stuff. So just getting that gel back together. First song in [Tongue click] like falling off a bike... like RIDING a bike” (he’s obviously joking about being rusty)
Anyway I hope this helped people understand them more. The more you watch and listen, the more you’ll pick up an ear for an accent.

+Alexander McYates You do realise they aren't a metal band right? Their first two albums were metalcore and melodic metalcore. Matt has even said himself that they are not metal, they are influenced by it, but are not a metal band. Honestly I will support them no matter what they make as long as it's rock). Temper Temper was an excellent album. I just can't see how people don't like it.

jamie is great bass player..and have a great voice!!
I love how no matter how intimidating a person can look, all of that goes away if they have a welsh accent. You hear the accent and immediately feel at home... :D
Also I like Jamie, Jamie is cool.
Listening to people with broad welsh accents is the most frustrating thing to understand. For the first like 2 minutes I thought he was speaking Swahili.

I think Jaime is a wonderful fit for the band, granted jay is a great bass player Jaime just seems to really gel with the guys, plus he's got a great voice for their sound! Keep up the good work!
Already a massive fan of Jamie, as I really liked Revoker's album. I think he has a great voice and I'm looking forward to hearing him with Matt on Venom.
Them adding Jamie to the band made me even more excited than I already was for Venom.
Just take my money now and give me the new album lol can't wait for Aug 14 for it.

Defo a shame to see Revoker go, but meeting Jamie he is one of the soundest folk you could EVER meet. Really takes time to chat and is exceptionally talented. I remember way back when the guys added me on Facebook cause I loved Bullet so much and chatted away, attended their gig and loved every second and loved hanging out with the guys. Jamie couldn't be a better for Bullet. Cannot wait for October in Aberdeen!

Matt must come from a different place in england than the rest of the band, his english is very easy to understand, but the rest of the band i actually have to pay a little more attention to understand what they are saying

I have a feeling Broken's going to be the last single (if there is 1 more before the album drops). Because you've played that one, and Army of Noise live. So by the time the album drops, half the album will already be floating around RUclips in live versions x) Anyways, Jaimie seems cool, glad you guys got through that rough patch :D

The Welsh accent is so cute, but to be honest I had a hard time understanding what Jamie, Padge and Moose said, even though I'm pretty steady in English. Funnily enough I manage to understand the Scottish accent just fine. 😅
