    Very good information but it makes it look much easier than it is with the back one. Also very important to blow dirt off around the spark plug BEFORE removing them. Also not a good idea to pull on the spark plug wires if you want to reuse them. But thanks anyway !

    before you take out the old plugs blow out any dirt or junk around the old spark plugs than take them out

      why there is no dirt that will fall in and if it did it would be burned up in the cylinders ! LOL

    Another reason to make sure you are doing it on a cold engine is that things expand when they are hot, if you try and take them out when it is hot they could cross thread and get stuck. You could find yourself in trouble then.

      I had one that sized, it took a lot of patience and a lot of work but eventually, I was able to get it out by taking it out a tiny bit and putting it back in a little bit and going out and in and out and in, until I was able to work it all the way out. I used some liquid wrench on it too and after getting it partway out sprayed it again and let it sit overnight. You may end of having to get it towed to a shop though if you can't get them out safely yourself.

      how dumb you cant work on a hot motor unless you want to get burned so your comment is usless

    if you look at the coil pack and it is numbered for the spark plug boots if we follow the boots individually to the spark plug doesn't that match up so that way we don't have to confuse the spark plug placement?

    • @theresam8809
      @theresam8809 2 года назад

      Teresa well my original spark plug wires had the numbers but my new set from advanced auto car quest didn’t have them…. So I think it depends on brand..

    If we change the cables and Spark plug do we have to change the Engine Ignition Coil Packs too ?

      No. I would only change the coil packs if there was a problem. Thanks for watching!

    Have question , did u take off anything to get into back area better? There that vent were ur windshield washer connected to, bcz the person that work on my car said it was to hard to access it without it off.. mine 01 and ur newer model.. I tried getting my hands back there it very tight spot I’m lady. Now it makes wonder if they put the wrong SP wires on wrong in back, what’s signs u would have to have them on wrong?
    I have one more my PCV it back behind there too and person work in it said it was wrong one but instead of letting me go get right part, they rig it some how can that cause
    Start up or stalling issues?? Thanks for ur help.. nice videos by way I wish u did more on DGC…. I love learning..

      Remove the wiper housing and sump assm and drains.... all the room to work....make sure when reassembling to make sure drains are tight. If water leaks out while driving it falls on the belt and you will lose power steering. Also great for accessing front o2 sensor......

    I brought my van into a mechanic. Told them the engine starts rough.. they said it needs new sparkplugs which they fixed. Although they didnt put on new spark plug wires? It still has the old ones.. and the engine still starts kind of rough. Is that because the old wires?

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  4 года назад +1

      Odd they didn't replace the wires given how easy it is to do. I would replace the plug wires. Thanks for watching John!

      Yea that’s strange, that should’ve been automatically unless u were changing them more frequently… anymore u really have to watch out who u works on ur car.. I’ve learned hard ways been taken bcz I’m lady.. I try research or learn from others…
      Did u get plugs replaced?

    What type of spark plugs did you use? The part # in my owners manual says to use laser platinum. However every auto parts store says they are the wrong ones.

      Kenneth, I have dodge 01 and same here only had it done one time and the person had take off the vent thing above to get better access.. it looks like he didn’t here , but maybe that year model they made better access.. I don’t even see PS reservoir on the ignition coil like mine it sits on top of my coil.. I hope u got ur done it not hard if u have tools and get behind. Idk why they made these vans so hard to get anything.. lol

    I thought you weren't supposed to use anti seize on spark plugs

    • @juliannajane6386

      You’re totally correct, you aren’t supposed to!
      You aren’t supposed to use it on any of the modern spark plugs that have a silver plated look to them…only on the older black spark plugs. Spark plugs from companies like NGK, Denso, Bosche, and so on, all say so right in their instructions. It’s because these modern day spark plugs come already pre-coated when you purchase them, in such a way that replaces the need for anti-seize.
      Using anti-seize is unnecessary & can be completely detrimental. Using anti-seize increases the torque by like 20%..and inexperienced or DIY spark plug changers, who don’t know how to torque accordingly for this, can very easily strip the threads on their plugs. This can lead to costly engine repairs. Plus, the anti-seize can also make the plugs not fire properly.
      It’s irresponsible of people making RUclips videos aimed at DIYers, to not go into detail about this & explain the cons of using anti-seize, as well as explain the way to properly Torque if one chooses to use it anyway.

    As soon as you remove a spark plug then you should replace it with a new one. If you don't, there may be potential for a foreign object to fall into the spark plug hole. Also replace the spark plug wire as you go, it would be a lot easier. Not sure why you are using a method that may expose replacement things in a wrong sequence.
