@@reviewreviews5908 Bahroo didnt make the build he was using one that a dev created and wanted him to try out. In that specific build he had a capstone classmod that also scaled weapon damage based on melee damage. Though we know there are classmods that can increase capstones, we dont know how rare they are or how rare it would be to find on that has that type of synergy on it.
One thing I feel like people havent quite got yet is the fact that she is the only one of the vault hunters who can actually put ANY augment on ANY action skill. There are endless possibilities to what you could do with this! Like, you wanna have Downfall but also make it cast a singularity that pulls in enemies beneath you? Or you wanna have the phaselock that ties enemy hp together and also have it create a big elemental nova on the initial target, basically stacking the damage? So many possibilities! :) Edit: Also, your point that you can basically tailor her around everything you find makes her an absolute perfect choice for me. I love finding awesome stuff and actually using it instead of dismissing it because it doesnt fit my build quite well :)
Yeah...that's pretty cool. You do have to spec far at times to go back and forth. But I'm sure she can have builds where you skill is opposite almost to the tree....maybe?!?
"Not the best at one thing" ....buuut she has the tankiest build (and also appears to have the best healing potential from a couple of talents/abilities), the strongest elemental damage build, the strongest melee build, and the best crowd-control build. People need to stop saying she's not the best at any particular thing, she's the best at several.
Yeah thats exactly what I thought, althought being the best at everything is also reach. I would definitely give her the best melee handsdown, and also best healing/tanking...holy shit she is insane... I would not give her the best elemental just yet, since what is elemental good for? to do damage, at the end of the day applying elements is for better optimal damage, and Fl4k with his crit build does insane damage without needing elements. But screw DPS I want to punch stuff in the face and blast them with my shotgun zipping around between enemies with punch dashes! I fell in love with that lv50 melee amara build.
@@alexferrier5732 As for elemental build, I'm just thinking of boss fights and being able to burn them down from having multiple elemental DoT's ticking away plus your primary elemental weapon blasting away so you're basically doing multiple types of constant damage the whole fight, except when you stop to reload. But imagine one of those CoV fire or corrosive streaming guns just drilling away the whole time, I can't wait to try out everything but to me elemental damage sounds like it's going to be way more useful than it was in BL2, especially after seeing bahroo's recent video on the new elemental de-buff and resistance percentages.
And she has overkill damage skill called something like Remnant. If you kill someone with your action or gun,projectiles will shoot out dealing the extra damage
@@alexferrier5732 I love Amara and am gonna play her first, but Fl4k def has stronger regen builds, especially because they can share their regen with the team. Using gamma burst with augments and a few skills you can have a potential 44 seconds straight of 20%maxHP/s regen for the whole team!! Plus all his other regen skills! Their tankiness is crazy!
@@daedric5647 I'm guessing theres a way to convert pretty much anything into anything else. my guess is he had some gear that stacked health at the cost of shields, but also added bonus melee damage based on how much health or how little shield was active. that combined with her basically instant health regen and blitz
If I had to guess the enemies she was up against were pretty easy (equivalent to bandits compared the BA loaders in BL2) but I know what you mean Amara is for sure my first playthrough and very likely my main, super keen to play her, especially in endgame.
@@inanimatejon1450 you do realize it scales automatically now and they said proving grounds are "endgame" activities right? and if she had a class mod that put say 2 more points into her melee damage middle skill, thats ridiculous. then paired with stacks from kills and elemental damage, whatever rolled on that melee damage dealing shotgun, the obvious health conversion shield, and who knows what artifact or other gear.
I think she's the least popular because her best tree is melee. In a shooter looter. I know melee is not fun for me in borderlands games. Melee has never felt good. It feels out of place to me in a shooter game, and I don't like melee without combos. It's a slow, single punch action that slows down gameplay when you could be shooting something. That's just my thoughts on it, melee doesn't feel great to use in BL games. Krieg melee was more tolerable because he had some melee attacks changed to the right trigger so you didn't have to spam stick clicks.
Amara was my OG main, but I'm gonna be playing a lot of solo and honestly I just want to have mildly salty JackSepticEye crossed with Dean Winchester in my head at all times while I'm playing by myself :P Also, with how much I love melee builds and how much I loved melee Athena in TPS I KNOW I would just be playing melee on her and I want to fully experience the guns in this game XD
Moze and Amara are the two I want to play. People keep comparing Moze to Sal but I think that smacks of the same pigeon holing that is causing people to underestimate Amara so badly. SMH at the lack of imagination these days. A crying shame.

Been telling people this, all it takes is reading the skill trees and watching a few videos. I get frustrated when people don't use the right elemental gun types or wrong action skill element towards enemies with specific resistances, and then the comments read, "Amara seems weak". With the right setup she absolutely melts everything, you just have to know what you are doing. I think her late-game elemental gun/DoT-focused fusion of Mystical Assault and Fist of the Elements (with the FoE capstone) will be some of the strongest DPS in the game. Hopefully that will persist through TVHM/UVHM as well, unlike BL2- Maya could have been such a bigger beast than she already was if that had been the case.
The potential of fist of the elements is nuts! If you minmax her DOT along with powerful DOT weapons and such, she will melt everything! As long as Damage Over Time is better in BL3 than it was in BL2...
I dont like her, she just doesnt feel special. She's seems like a melee maya. I recognize that she is powerful and that she is versatile but she just doesnt grab my attention

I totally agree with this. Although I’m not a melee type person and wouldn’t use her like that I can totally see a rush, element spreading, action skill spamming OP build for her. Especially when you take into account how important element types are this time. She can pick up any elemental weapon and dominate against the corresponding enemy just like that.
She's going to be my main, given I've always mained a siren, but her melee tree looks like insane fun. Can't wait to try out all the different mixes of cap stones and what not.
Siren classes are "almost OP" in B1 and B2, so I'm not surprised. Amara is the only character out of four whose augments work with every action skill she had, making her really versatile and able to easily switch skill trees. I really like how each character have a certain "quirk" tied to their action skills.
I dont think she's being underrated, she just isnt as flashy as the other characters in my opinion. She's a siren, which is the most recognizable of the characters, which means fans of the series kind of know what to expect already, which is that she will have control of the Battlefield and be an elemental specialist. Admittedly, her melee style, while not the only way she can be played, doesnt appeal to me, but I definitely see the value of having her in a squad. I just dont want to be the one playing her.
Honestly sirens have been my first character to play in the past borderlands and this one I’m going FL4K first. Amara has looked a bit underwhelming but this video helped a lot and really appreciate your time and effort put into the video and I think she will be my second character I play as

I mean, they said they buffed her. And that's (in my opinion) why she fell to the bottom of the roaster so fast. Our first glimpse of gameplay, she was weak as hell. Her action skill wasn't even killing the standard Maliwan soldiers at level 15, and I believe that tainted her image right off the cuff.
If you know what makes Amara powerful you couldnt care less if her action skills dealt 1 dmg. You care about frenquence of use, and perhaps the utility in it.
Yeah that’s what made a lot of people ignore her, because the one thing you want to be able to at least do with a one off raw damage action skill is to be able to kill mob enemies with it
But think about this bl 3 class mods can upgrade capstone skills and amara has a skill that makes it so that you can use your skill again once during cooldown but what if you could use it 3 times during cooldown. Thats potenttialy extremely overpovered
Amara is basically Krieg with Siren powers and she is being heavily slept on, Brawl tree - incredible mobility nie unkillable high burst good AOE Mystic tree- high range incredible burst decent survivabilty good AOE FOTE tree - Incredbile AOE good dps incredible control nie unkillable I personally am not a huge fan of melee but Krieg is my fave char for the same reasons Amara will be my 1st played char, elemental aoe focused chaos at it's finest
The one thing about amara that seems consistent is that she is good at melee and if you don’t like CC that’s really all you get to do. Amare should have a toggle so you can switch action skills on the fly with out going into menus. Like make three action skill augment combos you could cycle through. This would make her feel flexible. This would also make her one capstone to cast a second action skill while still in cool downpours could phase lock switch action skill Combo and ground pound the locked enemy. It would make her seem as cool as the rest having a special gimmick like the others.
That's a fantastic idea. I think she'd endear herself to people more if you can switch Action Skills/Augments on the fly like you've suggested. Same deal with what element she is.
@@ohstirfry Yeah, it's truly unfortunate. I suppose in the modern era we can always hope for updates, even if that seems unlikely. The devs mentioned they wouldn't be doing new characters but instead add new skill trees to current characters, so such large changes could be possible.
Everyone who put time into endgame bl2 will recognize that, most likely, her and fl4k will be the best characters. Her melee build will be nuts probably up until mayhem 1 maybe even 2 and 3. Fl4k has rift and the invisibility bonus, which will shred initial fights. What I appreciate about this Bl is all characters will bring something very valuable to the table in co op play. In bl1 and 2, you never really cared too much if you had a brick or a zero. While they could definitely work, they played around their individual play.
The character that has the most skills relating to buffing elemental damage is always the most OP. Lilith and Maya were so broken and Amara will be the same.
I didn't spend too much time building her but when I look at her skill trees, I suspect her strongest tree is going to be Fist of elements, making her play style a lot like Maya... I want to try something new...
If one thing is for sure, Amara is almost like a combination between Gaige and Maya. She has the amazing elemental damage output (with shock damage being boosted even further *cough cough wires dont talk cough* ) and has the incredible survivability to combo with that. Amara has been number 1 for me since the beginning because, well, Brick x Siren punch time.
Amara is not a just melee character. Yes she has the abilities that go with melee but she aslo is extremely awesome at elemental procs, dps, healing, and can chain damaging multiple enemies.

Then after I saw she can go melee I fell in love, since my 2nd playthroughts are always melee characters, and now I can have both a siren and a melee one at this? sign me the fuck in! Yeah I noticed that too, I love melee characters, and I love mage archetypes (sirens), and know the melee oriented of the crew is also a siren on this game? Im 100% sold, that Amara build dashing from enemy to enemy like Zero but with an even shorter cooldown punching them to death with an insane life steal and the always trusty shotty to blast them off (and one that scales of melee damage at this!) is the most fun build I have seen of all 4 characters so far, with infinite ammo Moze in a close 2nd.
There was a time when I thought melee amara would be my first character. To prep for this I started playing my first melee Zer0, and I quickly was reminded of a problem that pretty much all melee characters have had in borderlands. Untill you get to near max level and have almost perfect gear, you feel like such a burden. The entire time I was leveling a melee zer0 i was just sitting there thinking that I would be having a much easier time if I just specced into something else. While I do definitely look forward to playing amara, I dont wanna risk my first playthrough of BL3 settling on a build untill I get to max level.
I think that's somewhat alleviated because Amara has the strongest survivability passives quite early on in the Brawl tree. There's also that "increased gun damage at close distances" at the very beginning of the tree so you won't lack for gun damage either. Goes to show the devs put some good thought into the trees. EDIT: I'd argue that Zane will be the character to take the longest to become good.
People just see the basic abilities and assume that they're boring. Sure, she has a scuffed phaselock and a glorified projectile (in a game about guns) but they can be changed DRASTICALLY into other abilities that are way more interesting. Just read the skilltree and think of the possibilities.
This skill tree dont look nearly as good as krieg one. Krieg could run in buzz axe rampage all the time and had crazy melee bonuses. Amara for sure dont have anything that good to make her melee worth.
@@Alen725 I felt the same at first, but you're assuming melee damage is calculated in the same way as bl2, which is an unknown as of now. Plus you have to take into account everything we know. She can turn her melee into 100% elemental damage which WILL do multiplicative damage, instead of additive. We know that there will be class mods in this game that can add points in capstones, one of Amara's gives her +100% melee damage so it's possible this can go way higher. There are anointed weapons that will be able to boost melee, on top of her being able to use bayoneted weapons, which krieg couldn't. The scaling in this game is much lower than bl2 so you don't need as high of a melee multiplier for it to be viable, And we have know idea what type of crazy class modes she'll get. There's a video of a level 50 melee Amara flying around the proving grounds and pretty much 1 shoting everything. And the person playing is using a shotgun thats bullets scale of melee damage. Theres a shit ton of things we don't know about these kits yet, but from everything I've seen melee Amara is 100% viable, if not better than krieg as you don't need to worry about StV ruining your life, and you can always shoot, unlike krieg who's look into melee only when in BAR
Yeah Ive set on Amara from day one. Always gotta play the Siren first. I bet Amara can get as OP as Krieg. Maybe not until they raise the level cap though

Funnily enough, everyone except Amara basically have pet builds. Fl4k is obvious, Zane has his clone (and drone) that copies his gun with cooldown/duration resets on freezing enemies, Moze can immediately hop in and out of the mech to have a shorter cooldown and the mech acts as a pet for 15 secs with the Auto-Bear passive. She can also reduce cooldowns on kills so if the cooldown is short enough, the mech can basically be a permanent pet.
yeah i knew how good her potental was at the start, element resist monster no problem just swap the element on your action skill to counter. infuses that element into all guns and melee as well with illuminated fist. illuminated fist well be one of the best skills to start with at level 7 just for the main reason of makeing your melee counter any enemy health bar as well as extra 75% melee. its very hard to get elemental guns early game, so adding any element you want with infusion and illuminated fist is a great.
Before Fl4k was revealed. I had a hard time deciding on who to play with first between Zane and Amara. Zane won by a little, but it was a tough decision because Amara is really good. I'm going all out with Fl4k on my first playthrough, since I like playing with zero and mechromancer.
Step 1. Use only elemental weapons with Avatar talent Step 2. Discard melee. Step 3. Profit FOR THE LOVE OF SIRENS USE VIOLENT TAPESTRY ! Forget about Melee aspects. Focus on her insane tankyness and her ability to apply multiple dots. Its not rocket surgery !
Not gunna watch the video as I want to discover everything for myself. I'm just here as a planned Amara main. I looked at all their skill trees. And Amara seemed the best. Not just the strongest. But the funnest to me.
Here's MY thing. I already know how strong and broken she can be both at late game and mid. I've seen admiral bahroo level 50 melee only game play with her. I'm not sleeping on her. I know she's good. But here's the thing... I'm a simple man. I see pets. I like. Ironically enough I mained brick and Krieg previously. So amara would be perfect. But..I want a pet I can name "dukino" xD or scrappy.
I see 11 minutes of video, a lot of talk, but no real example, you dont discuss her skill tree/passives. Just saying she could be the most overpower vault hunter and leave at that is not enough.
I've looked into some incredible builds for Amara, and I'm amazed content creators haven't really noticed it. Lets consider the build (link given at end): Capstone Mystical Assault Tree, with the remaining 21 points in the Brawl Tree. Using Fracture Action Skill, Corrosive Action Skill Element and Stillness of Mind Augment. First let's consider our investment in the Mystical Assault Tree: Our Action Skill cooldown is 21 sections (28 seconds - 25% from Restless), and we can activate it twice each cooldown. So on average we can activate our action skill every 10 - 12 seconds. Let's not forget we have Stillness of Mind - and with that in mind (pun intended), let's look at the impact of this build. Every ~10 seconds, we can fracture the ground - phaselocking any enemy hit for 6 seconds (aka we can phaselock 1-5 enemies per cast easily). If we damage a phaselocked enemy, they still remain phaselocked for 0.75 seconds. NEXT - we need to consider the fact that we are using Laid Bare / Wrath. When we use our action skill - we gain 40% gun damage for 8 seconds, and all enemies damaged by the fracture (including those phaselocked) now take an additional 25% damage. Result? 140% * 125% = We are dealing 75% bonus gun damage to those enemies. We have 1 point invested in Remnant (I would only every recommend 1 point) - which means whenever we kill an enemy, it sends out a projectile which seeks a new enemy. But more importantly - ANY gun / action skill overkill damage is added to that projectile, meaning that when we use rockets / score crazy crits - all that overkill damage is going to be transferred to a new enemy (which provides extreme value for only 1 skill point). Lastly - Let's remember that we also have 20 max rush stacks due to the capstone here, that half are refunded when killing an enemy with our action skill and that all our rush stacks gain 30% effectiveness (Awakening). We also have 5 points invested in each of Violent Tapestry / Do Harm. Whenever we kill an enemy or apply a status effect - we gain a stack of rush. When we use our action skill, it deals bonus damage between 0 - 117% (based on our rush stacks between 0-20), and after using our action skill - we gain 0-78% increased status effect chance for 20 seconds. What does this mean? It causes a chain reaction as follows: We have an extremely high chance to apply status effect chance (which increases our damage, but also means we regain rush stacks significantly faster due to Violent Tapestry), and the greater our rush stacks - the more damage our action skills deals (increasing the probability of killing enemies and regaining half your rush stacks immediately), and the higher our chance of dealing status effects after our next action skill cast (which will subsequently lead to the aforementioned occurring again). Next, Let's look at our 21 Points invested in the Brawl Tree: We have 36% increased damage depending on how close we are to our enemies. We can gain an additional 0-25% gun damage from Samsara, in addition 0-25% max health regeneration PER SECOND. We gain 40% damage reduction for 15 seconds after activating our action skill - which as mentioned previously, we can use our action skill every 10-12 seconds, meaning we gain almost permanent 40% damage reduction. We have +40% health from Root to Rise (making Amara even tankier). We gain insane movement speed / reduced shield recharge delay from Mindfulness whenever we take damage. We gain 100% melee damage, in addition to 75% melee range for 20 seconds upon activating our action skill (similar to above, the 75% melee range bonus will be almost permanent). Lastly - we gain a free second wind whenever we enter fight for your life (2 minute cooldown). Consider the damage / utility of this and I think it's easy to justify Amara as a strong VH. Ryan M except she doesnt really have any melee tree. Like maybe its because ive played psycho. But like she has one skill that increases melee damage by 100%. Krieg has like 10x more
@@billeisenhauer9556 The Brawl tree is the melee tree but there's a passive in Fist of the Elements that only needs 6 points for another melee boost. Also converts the melee to an element, so you can adjust mid-battle to exploit enemy weaknesses. This becomes even more powerful if it does statuses, which can take advantage of the many elemental passives.
I did my second playthrough as Amara and I had a very difficult time with the story/quests compared to Moze (currently playing Zane, haven't played FL4K yet). Once I got to the capstone skills, she became very good. To me, she's a late bloomer. I also noticed that if you try to play her as a traditional Siren such as Lilith or Maya, you're going to struggle.
Ive been for amara since she was announced. 1. Because ive never played a siren, and 2. Because I ALWAYS am melee if its a choice. I was brick first. I was zer0 second (mistakenly thinking I could use his sword), and of course, Krieg. Im excited to kick ass up close and personal with her
Fl4k is my first but Amara might honestly be my second. I just love colorful effects, and Zane and Moze’s action skills don’t quite give me that color that keeps me entertained. Probably a weird reason, but its a big factor in how I choose a lot of things in life
Basically gonna either do Amara solo and Fl4k with my friend or the other way around. No matter what, every character is getting played at some point. I'm not sleeping on Amara because my favorite thing about borderlands since its creation was elemental guns and other stuff like that. That's why I like the sirens.
Honestly I can see why she's being slept on. I love sirens and I'm going to play Amara and flak. But the real reason why she's being slept on is because they didn't really do anything revolutionary with her like they did the other characters. To me she just seems like a mishmash of the previous two sirens except she's more melee focused being the only foreseeable difference.

Probably because clone copies your gun, barrier copies your shields and cooldown resets. Really insane passives. I'm not going to fully judge characters till launch but Zane looks legitimately crazy despite being just a "mishmash".
Amara has a capstone that is literally the Immolate glitch with 100% uptime and the option to choose its element. There is no way she'll be underpowered.

When I saw her summon her mantra arms I knew she would wreck. Unfortunately, I love Asura’s Wrath as much as I do Titanfall, so I’m still trying to decide who between her and moze for my first run.
I went from Moze to Flak to Moze to Amara. Basically I want to use shotguns most which I think any of those 3 can do, Moze sprinting while shooting but Amara is still probably better with shotguns
I am not a big fan of melee characters in the BL series (that bing said I still enjoyed krieg every now and then) so I was a bit sad to see all the melee skills and playstyle of my so far favorite classes in all games so far, elemental builds with support for my team was always what I liked about Sirens. but when I saw the elemental tree of Amara, now knowing she can convert gun damage to the element of her action skill, do free elemental damage, and has a chance to cause other elemental DoTs to proc when she causes damage with her DoTs... I knew I would play her eventually, although most likely not when playing with my friends in a group
I wanted to play FL4K first but with ALMOST EVERYONE playing them first and there’s being a gun that scales with Melee I think I’m gonna pick up Amara first. She’s a combination of Maya, Lilith, Claptrap, and Krieg. That’s good enough for me.
I think the main reason Amara is the lowest on most people's lists is because she doesn't have the physical appeal. Yeah it's a lil judgemental but if she looked like Maya or Lilith in a bikini, she'd have a lot more popularity.
I’m interested in everyone but moze. My favourite part of borderlands is using the guns. And i don’t want to jump into a mech suit and not be able to use my guns
Moze seems very gun oriented though, if not the most. Amara is more elemental and Fl4ks would stick to Jakobs or accurate weapons like snipers. Moze gets constant ammo, barely needing to reload and can sprint/shoot at the same time and can be built to have the most gun damage out of the entire cast. If you don't like the mech, I think you can spec 11 points into the explosive tree for Auto-Bear and basically hop in and out of it, basically making him like a pet. 11 points is a pretty hefty investment though so you could just use Iron Bear as an "Oh shit" button for when near death and hop out once shields are full. The green tree gives infinite ammo for a short time after exiting the mech and the orange tree immediately starts shield recharge for you and your allies when entering. Mech cooldown is also shorter if you're in it for a short time. I wholeheartedly suggest looking up LazyData's Bottomless Mags Moze gameplay. It's probably the best showcase of Moze so far.
Dude I get it's been 4 months but play moze and do bottemles mags basicly insane dps and if you get low on health jump into mech and let shield recharge then go back out. It's awesome
I'm perfectly fine with being the only person excited about Amara. I honestly love everything about her. I also play the siren on my first run through, second I usually use a dlc character. But I'm also a tank/healer character who also prefers melee, play Wise she's perfect. Not to mention her personality and background I'm in love with. I also dont get how people are coming at her personality calling her bland. I find her wits and extreme sense of self confidence to be funny and really inspiring. Ive tried the other 3 vault hunters, but not amara. I did the same in bl2, and wen i played maya, she was the best. So iam gonna start an amara playthrough tonight!

@@reviewreviews5908 Bahroo didnt make the build he was using one that a dev created and wanted him to try out. In that specific build he had a capstone classmod that also scaled weapon damage based on melee damage. Though we know there are classmods that can increase capstones, we dont know how rare they are or how rare it would be to find on that has that type of synergy on it.
You can do a Slam, causing a singularity with that Slam, and then Slam AGAIN on the enemies that get sucked in.

One thing I feel like people havent quite got yet is the fact that she is the only one of the vault hunters who can actually put ANY augment on ANY action skill. There are endless possibilities to what you could do with this! Like, you wanna have Downfall but also make it cast a singularity that pulls in enemies beneath you? Or you wanna have the phaselock that ties enemy hp together and also have it create a big elemental nova on the initial target, basically stacking the damage? So many possibilities! :)
Edit: Also, your point that you can basically tailor her around everything you find makes her an absolute perfect choice for me. I love finding awesome stuff and actually using it instead of dismissing it because it doesnt fit my build quite well :)

You do have to spec far at times to go back and forth.
But I'm sure she can have builds where you skill is opposite almost to the tree....maybe?!?
I think the math I did when her tree leaked was 120 possible action skills.
Yep, she really incentives spreading your points among all 3 trees, if nothing else to get the option to make your AS any element.

"Not the best at one thing" ....buuut she has the tankiest build (and also appears to have the best healing potential from a couple of talents/abilities), the strongest elemental damage build, the strongest melee build, and the best crowd-control build. People need to stop saying she's not the best at any particular thing, she's the best at several.

I would not give her the best elemental just yet, since what is elemental good for? to do damage, at the end of the day applying elements is for better optimal damage, and Fl4k with his crit build does insane damage without needing elements. But screw DPS I want to punch stuff in the face and blast them with my shotgun zipping around between enemies with punch dashes! I fell in love with that lv50 melee amara build.
@@alexferrier5732 As for elemental build, I'm just thinking of boss fights and being able to burn them down from having multiple elemental DoT's ticking away plus your primary elemental weapon blasting away so you're basically doing multiple types of constant damage the whole fight, except when you stop to reload. But imagine one of those CoV fire or corrosive streaming guns just drilling away the whole time, I can't wait to try out everything but to me elemental damage sounds like it's going to be way more useful than it was in BL2, especially after seeing bahroo's recent video on the new elemental de-buff and resistance percentages.
And she has overkill damage skill called something like Remnant. If you kill someone with your action or gun,projectiles will shoot out dealing the extra damage
@@alexferrier5732 I love Amara and am gonna play her first, but Fl4k def has stronger regen builds, especially because they can share their regen with the team. Using gamma burst with augments and a few skills you can have a potential 44 seconds straight of 20%maxHP/s regen for the whole team!! Plus all his other regen skills! Their tankiness is crazy!
if you watch admiral bahroos lvl 50 melee amara video you will understand how strong she is. its nuts.
That build is nuts, she wasnt even wearing a shield too. All that health regen from all those 1 hit punches, she didnt even need it.

@@daedric5647 I'm guessing theres a way to convert pretty much anything into anything else. my guess is he had some gear that stacked health at the cost of shields, but also added bonus melee damage based on how much health or how little shield was active. that combined with her basically instant health regen and blitz
If I had to guess the enemies she was up against were pretty easy (equivalent to bandits compared the BA loaders in BL2) but I know what you mean Amara is for sure my first playthrough and very likely my main, super keen to play her, especially in endgame.
@@inanimatejon1450 you do realize it scales automatically now and they said proving grounds are "endgame" activities right? and if she had a class mod that put say 2 more points into her melee damage middle skill, thats ridiculous. then paired with stacks from kills and elemental damage, whatever rolled on that melee damage dealing shotgun, the obvious health conversion shield, and who knows what artifact or other gear.
I think she's the least popular because her best tree is melee. In a shooter looter. I know melee is not fun for me in borderlands games. Melee has never felt good. It feels out of place to me in a shooter game, and I don't like melee without combos. It's a slow, single punch action that slows down gameplay when you could be shooting something. That's just my thoughts on it, melee doesn't feel great to use in BL games. Krieg melee was more tolerable because he had some melee attacks changed to the right trigger so you didn't have to spam stick clicks.

Been telling people this, all it takes is reading the skill trees and watching a few videos. I get frustrated when people don't use the right elemental gun types or wrong action skill element towards enemies with specific resistances, and then the comments read, "Amara seems weak". With the right setup she absolutely melts everything, you just have to know what you are doing. I think her late-game elemental gun/DoT-focused fusion of Mystical Assault and Fist of the Elements (with the FoE capstone) will be some of the strongest DPS in the game. Hopefully that will persist through TVHM/UVHM as well, unlike BL2- Maya could have been such a bigger beast than she already was if that had been the case.
My dream vault hunter personally. She is an elemental melee character. So good.

The potential of fist of the elements is nuts! If you minmax her DOT along with powerful DOT weapons and such, she will melt everything! As long as Damage Over Time is better in BL3 than it was in BL2...

I totally agree with this. Although I’m not a melee type person and wouldn’t use her like that I can totally see a rush, element spreading, action skill spamming OP build for her. Especially when you take into account how important element types are this time. She can pick up any elemental weapon and dominate against the corresponding enemy just like that.
She's going to be my main, given I've always mained a siren, but her melee tree looks like insane fun. Can't wait to try out all the different mixes of cap stones and what not.
Siren classes are "almost OP" in B1 and B2, so I'm not surprised. Amara is the only character out of four whose augments work with every action skill she had, making her really versatile and able to easily switch skill trees. I really like how each character have a certain "quirk" tied to their action skills.
Amara the punchwizard was already my first pick. This further cements it.

I dont think she's being underrated, she just isnt as flashy as the other characters in my opinion. She's a siren, which is the most recognizable of the characters, which means fans of the series kind of know what to expect already, which is that she will have control of the Battlefield and be an elemental specialist. Admittedly, her melee style, while not the only way she can be played, doesnt appeal to me, but I definitely see the value of having her in a squad. I just dont want to be the one playing her.
Honestly sirens have been my first character to play in the past borderlands and this one I’m going FL4K first. Amara has looked a bit underwhelming but this video helped a lot and really appreciate your time and effort put into the video and I think she will be my second character I play as

Sirens have always been who i play first and im hyped for Amara.
I mean, they said they buffed her. And that's (in my opinion) why she fell to the bottom of the roaster so fast. Our first glimpse of gameplay, she was weak as hell. Her action skill wasn't even killing the standard Maliwan soldiers at level 15, and I believe that tainted her image right off the cuff.
If you know what makes Amara powerful you couldnt care less if her action skills dealt 1 dmg. You care about frenquence of use, and perhaps the utility in it.
Yeah that’s what made a lot of people ignore her, because the one thing you want to be able to at least do with a one off raw damage action skill is to be able to kill mob enemies with it
But think about this bl 3 class mods can upgrade capstone skills and amara has a skill that makes it so that you can use your skill again once during cooldown but what if you could use it 3 times during cooldown. Thats potenttialy extremely overpovered

The one thing about amara that seems consistent is that she is good at melee and if you don’t like CC that’s really all you get to do. Amare should have a toggle so you can switch action skills on the fly with out going into menus. Like make three action skill augment combos you could cycle through. This would make her feel flexible. This would also make her one capstone to cast a second action skill while still in cool downpours could phase lock switch action skill Combo and ground pound the locked enemy. It would make her seem as cool as the rest having a special gimmick like the others.
That's a fantastic idea. I think she'd endear herself to people more if you can switch Action Skills/Augments on the fly like you've suggested. Same deal with what element she is.

The devs mentioned they wouldn't be doing new characters but instead add new skill trees to current characters, so such large changes could be possible.
Everyone who put time into endgame bl2 will recognize that, most likely, her and fl4k will be the best characters. Her melee build will be nuts probably up until mayhem 1 maybe even 2 and 3. Fl4k has rift and the invisibility bonus, which will shred initial fights. What I appreciate about this Bl is all characters will bring something very valuable to the table in co op play. In bl1 and 2, you never really cared too much if you had a brick or a zero. While they could definitely work, they played around their individual play.

The character that has the most skills relating to buffing elemental damage is always the most OP.

If one thing is for sure, Amara is almost like a combination between Gaige and Maya. She has the amazing elemental damage output (with shock damage being boosted even further *cough cough wires dont talk cough* ) and has the incredible survivability to combo with that. Amara has been number 1 for me since the beginning because, well, Brick x Siren punch time.
Amara is not a just melee character. Yes she has the abilities that go with melee but she aslo is extremely awesome at elemental procs, dps, healing, and can chain damaging multiple enemies.
everyone keeps ranking her terrible for solo but that constant health regen that gets stronger the lower your health is plus healing from an action skill on a short cooldown that can be used twice before coming down? lmaoooooo

Yeah I noticed that too, I love melee characters, and I love mage archetypes (sirens), and know the melee oriented of the crew is also a siren on this game? Im 100% sold, that Amara build dashing from enemy to enemy like Zero but with an even shorter cooldown punching them to death with an insane life steal and the always trusty shotty to blast them off (and one that scales of melee damage at this!) is the most fun build I have seen of all 4 characters so far, with infinite ammo Moze in a close 2nd.

I’m really pissed this new siren is a krieg character. I always play as a siren in borderlands 1&2 first. Not this time though😢
There was a time when I thought melee amara would be my first character. To prep for this I started playing my first melee Zer0, and I quickly was reminded of a problem that pretty much all melee characters have had in borderlands. Untill you get to near max level and have almost perfect gear, you feel like such a burden. The entire time I was leveling a melee zer0 i was just sitting there thinking that I would be having a much easier time if I just specced into something else. While I do definitely look forward to playing amara, I dont wanna risk my first playthrough of BL3 settling on a build untill I get to max level.
I think that's somewhat alleviated because Amara has the strongest survivability passives quite early on in the Brawl tree. There's also that "increased gun damage at close distances" at the very beginning of the tree so you won't lack for gun damage either. Goes to show the devs put some good thought into the trees.
EDIT: I'd argue that Zane will be the character to take the longest to become good.

People just see the basic abilities and assume that they're boring. Sure, she has a scuffed phaselock and a glorified projectile (in a game about guns) but they can be changed DRASTICALLY into other abilities that are way more interesting. Just read the skilltree and think of the possibilities.

This skill tree dont look nearly as good as krieg one. Krieg could run in buzz axe rampage all the time and had crazy melee bonuses. Amara for sure dont have anything that good to make her melee worth.
@@Alen725 I felt the same at first, but you're assuming melee damage is calculated in the same way as bl2, which is an unknown as of now.
Plus you have to take into account everything we know. She can turn her melee into 100% elemental damage which WILL do multiplicative damage, instead of additive. We know that there will be class mods in this game that can add points in capstones, one of Amara's gives her +100% melee damage so it's possible this can go way higher. There are anointed weapons that will be able to boost melee, on top of her being able to use bayoneted weapons, which krieg couldn't. The scaling in this game is much lower than bl2 so you don't need as high of a melee multiplier for it to be viable, And we have know idea what type of crazy class modes she'll get.
There's a video of a level 50 melee Amara flying around the proving grounds and pretty much 1 shoting everything. And the person playing is using a shotgun thats bullets scale of melee damage.
Theres a shit ton of things we don't know about these kits yet, but from everything I've seen melee Amara is 100% viable, if not better than krieg as you don't need to worry about StV ruining your life, and you can always shoot, unlike krieg who's look into melee only when in BAR

Funnily enough, everyone except Amara basically have pet builds. Fl4k is obvious, Zane has his clone (and drone) that copies his gun with cooldown/duration resets on freezing enemies, Moze can immediately hop in and out of the mech to have a shorter cooldown and the mech acts as a pet for 15 secs with the Auto-Bear passive. She can also reduce cooldowns on kills so if the cooldown is short enough, the mech can basically be a permanent pet.

yeah i knew how good her potental was at the start, element resist monster no problem just swap the element on your action skill to counter. infuses that element into all guns and melee as well with illuminated fist. illuminated fist well be one of the best skills to start with at level 7 just for the main reason of makeing your melee counter any enemy health bar as well as extra 75% melee. its very hard to get elemental guns early game, so adding any element you want with infusion and illuminated fist is a great.
amara has a tool in the box to fix almost any problem, thing is most people dont know about the tools.
I'm undecided between Amara and Fl4k for a first playthrough but recent coverage is making me lean Amara. Her flexibility is a big plus for me.
Before Fl4k was revealed. I had a hard time deciding on who to play with first between Zane and Amara. Zane won by a little, but it was a tough decision because Amara is really good. I'm going all out with Fl4k on my first playthrough, since I like playing with zero and mechromancer.
Amara, Zane, FL4K and Moze is the order I plan on playing them once all the character trailers dropped

Here's MY thing. I already know how strong and broken she can be both at late game and mid. I've seen admiral bahroo level 50 melee only game play with her. I'm not sleeping on her. I know she's good. But here's the thing...
I'm a simple man. I see pets. I like. Ironically enough I mained brick and Krieg previously. So amara would be perfect. But..I want a pet I can name "dukino" xD or scrappy.
I see 11 minutes of video, a lot of talk, but no real example, you dont discuss her skill tree/passives. Just saying she could be the most overpower vault hunter and leave at that is not enough.

I've looked into some incredible builds for Amara, and I'm amazed content creators haven't really noticed it.
Lets consider the build (link given at end):
Capstone Mystical Assault Tree, with the remaining 21 points in the Brawl Tree. Using Fracture Action Skill, Corrosive Action Skill Element and Stillness of Mind Augment.
First let's consider our investment in the Mystical Assault Tree:
Our Action Skill cooldown is 21 sections (28 seconds - 25% from Restless), and we can activate it twice each cooldown. So on average we can activate our action skill every 10 - 12 seconds.
Let's not forget we have Stillness of Mind - and with that in mind (pun intended), let's look at the impact of this build.
Every ~10 seconds, we can fracture the ground - phaselocking any enemy hit for 6 seconds (aka we can phaselock 1-5 enemies per cast easily). If we damage a phaselocked enemy, they still remain phaselocked for 0.75 seconds.
NEXT - we need to consider the fact that we are using Laid Bare / Wrath. When we use our action skill - we gain 40% gun damage for 8 seconds, and all enemies damaged by the fracture (including those phaselocked) now take an additional 25% damage. Result? 140% * 125% = We are dealing 75% bonus gun damage to those enemies.
We have 1 point invested in Remnant (I would only every recommend 1 point) - which means whenever we kill an enemy, it sends out a projectile which seeks a new enemy. But more importantly - ANY gun / action skill overkill damage is added to that projectile, meaning that when we use rockets / score crazy crits - all that overkill damage is going to be transferred to a new enemy (which provides extreme value for only 1 skill point).
Lastly - Let's remember that we also have 20 max rush stacks due to the capstone here, that half are refunded when killing an enemy with our action skill and that all our rush stacks gain 30% effectiveness (Awakening). We also have 5 points invested in each of Violent Tapestry / Do Harm. Whenever we kill an enemy or apply a status effect - we gain a stack of rush. When we use our action skill, it deals bonus damage between 0 - 117% (based on our rush stacks between 0-20), and after using our action skill - we gain 0-78% increased status effect chance for 20 seconds. What does this mean? It causes a chain reaction as follows: We have an extremely high chance to apply status effect chance (which increases our damage, but also means we regain rush stacks significantly faster due to Violent Tapestry), and the greater our rush stacks - the more damage our action skills deals (increasing the probability of killing enemies and regaining half your rush stacks immediately), and the higher our chance of dealing status effects after our next action skill cast (which will subsequently lead to the aforementioned occurring again).
Next, Let's look at our 21 Points invested in the Brawl Tree:
We have 36% increased damage depending on how close we are to our enemies.
We can gain an additional 0-25% gun damage from Samsara, in addition 0-25% max health regeneration PER SECOND.
We gain 40% damage reduction for 15 seconds after activating our action skill - which as mentioned previously, we can use our action skill every 10-12 seconds, meaning we gain almost permanent 40% damage reduction.
We have +40% health from Root to Rise (making Amara even tankier).
We gain insane movement speed / reduced shield recharge delay from Mindfulness whenever we take damage.
We gain 100% melee damage, in addition to 75% melee range for 20 seconds upon activating our action skill (similar to above, the 75% melee range bonus will be almost permanent).
Lastly - we gain a free second wind whenever we enter fight for your life (2 minute cooldown).
Consider the damage / utility of this and I think it's easy to justify Amara as a strong VH.

Melee Amara is probably going to be the most fun build in the game
Ryan M except she doesnt really have any melee tree. Like maybe its because ive played psycho. But like she has one skill that increases melee damage by 100%. Krieg has like 10x more

@@billeisenhauer9556 The Brawl tree is the melee tree but there's a passive in Fist of the Elements that only needs 6 points for another melee boost. Also converts the melee to an element, so you can adjust mid-battle to exploit enemy weaknesses. This becomes even more powerful if it does statuses, which can take advantage of the many elemental passives.
I did my second playthrough as Amara and I had a very difficult time with the story/quests compared to Moze (currently playing Zane, haven't played FL4K yet). Once I got to the capstone skills, she became very good. To me, she's a late bloomer. I also noticed that if you try to play her as a traditional Siren such as Lilith or Maya, you're going to struggle.

Ive been for amara since she was announced. 1. Because ive never played a siren, and 2. Because I ALWAYS am melee if its a choice. I was brick first. I was zer0 second (mistakenly thinking I could use his sword), and of course, Krieg. Im excited to kick ass up close and personal with her

Fl4k is my first but Amara might honestly be my second. I just love colorful effects, and Zane and Moze’s action skills don’t quite give me that color that keeps me entertained. Probably a weird reason, but its a big factor in how I choose a lot of things in life
Basically gonna either do Amara solo and Fl4k with my friend or the other way around. No matter what, every character is getting played at some point. I'm not sleeping on Amara because my favorite thing about borderlands since its creation was elemental guns and other stuff like that. That's why I like the sirens.
Honestly I can see why she's being slept on. I love sirens and I'm going to play Amara and flak. But the real reason why she's being slept on is because they didn't really do anything revolutionary with her like they did the other characters. To me she just seems like a mishmash of the previous two sirens except she's more melee focused being the only foreseeable difference.

Probably because clone copies your gun, barrier copies your shields and cooldown resets. Really insane passives. I'm not going to fully judge characters till launch but Zane looks legitimately crazy despite being just a "mishmash".
Amara has a capstone that is literally the Immolate glitch with 100% uptime and the option to choose its element. There is no way she'll be underpowered.
Well comapred to the rest I think she MAY be the weakest but she will still be stronger then bl2 characters
Norse Lavenza I actually think zane might be the “weakest”, and i dont think any of them will be OP, just that Zane doesnt have anything obviously OP other than maybe his clone and shield combo? However, amara has retarded good health regen, fl4k can be permanently invisible critting everything and moze can have infinite shield and ammo pretty much

When I saw her summon her mantra arms I knew she would wreck. Unfortunately, I love Asura’s Wrath as much as I do Titanfall, so I’m still trying to decide who between her and moze for my first run.
I went from Moze to Flak to Moze to Amara. Basically I want to use shotguns most which I think any of those 3 can do, Moze sprinting while shooting but Amara is still probably better with shotguns

I am not a big fan of melee characters in the BL series (that bing said I still enjoyed krieg every now and then) so I was a bit sad to see all the melee skills and playstyle of my so far favorite classes in all games so far, elemental builds with support for my team was always what I liked about Sirens. but when I saw the elemental tree of Amara, now knowing she can convert gun damage to the element of her action skill, do free elemental damage, and has a chance to cause other elemental DoTs to proc when she causes damage with her DoTs... I knew I would play her eventually, although most likely not when playing with my friends in a group
I wanted to play FL4K first but with ALMOST EVERYONE playing them first and there’s being a gun that scales with Melee I think I’m gonna pick up Amara first.
She’s a combination of Maya, Lilith, Claptrap, and Krieg. That’s good enough for me.

I think the main reason Amara is the lowest on most people's lists is because she doesn't have the physical appeal. Yeah it's a lil judgemental but if she looked like Maya or Lilith in a bikini, she'd have a lot more popularity.

So I started with FlAck for the first playthrough but now I'm on Amara and I'm having more fun with her
I’m interested in everyone but moze. My favourite part of borderlands is using the guns. And i don’t want to jump into a mech suit and not be able to use my guns
Moze seems very gun oriented though, if not the most. Amara is more elemental and Fl4ks would stick to Jakobs or accurate weapons like snipers. Moze gets constant ammo, barely needing to reload and can sprint/shoot at the same time and can be built to have the most gun damage out of the entire cast. If you don't like the mech, I think you can spec 11 points into the explosive tree for Auto-Bear and basically hop in and out of it, basically making him like a pet.
11 points is a pretty hefty investment though so you could just use Iron Bear as an "Oh shit" button for when near death and hop out once shields are full. The green tree gives infinite ammo for a short time after exiting the mech and the orange tree immediately starts shield recharge for you and your allies when entering. Mech cooldown is also shorter if you're in it for a short time.
I wholeheartedly suggest looking up LazyData's Bottomless Mags Moze gameplay. It's probably the best showcase of Moze so far.
Dude I get it's been 4 months but play moze and do bottemles mags basicly insane dps and if you get low on health jump into mech and let shield recharge then go back out. It's awesome

I'm perfectly fine with being the only person excited about Amara. I honestly love everything about her. I also play the siren on my first run through, second I usually use a dlc character. But I'm also a tank/healer character who also prefers melee, play Wise she's perfect. Not to mention her personality and background I'm in love with. I also dont get how people are coming at her personality calling her bland. I find her wits and extreme sense of self confidence to be funny and really inspiring. I've never wanted to cosplay a BL character more than her
