Nice Video as far as you went Vance. Having done this before myself, I would make the following point. The open and force it in technique will certainly work as you demonstrated but there is an unseen consequence of this method. The manual describes a bit more action to avoid damage to the outer cowling. They instruct that you remove the windscreen wipers after marking there position, then remove all the push pin and screws to allow removal of the entire cowling. This prevents damage to the cowling at the extreme left side of the cowling due to the torsional forces that will allow water damage in the vicinity below that area which houses a great deal of the car's electronics. So be aware of that possible and much more problematic long term issue from water damage. 50 years of Jaguar Service experience as an owner operator from XK's, E-types, XJ-6, XJ-S and S-type.

Great instructions. After watching this, it took me about 3 minutes to get the old filter out and the new one in. I am curious about one thing: I wonder what the 2 re'tards who disliked the video did not understand and caused them to dislike it. Kind of weird.

GREAT video!! Do you happen to know if it's the same for a 2001 XJ8? I wish there were more videos like this! Great job... thank you for helping us!

Update: firmly pounded on cover and it clicked into place. Am now high and dry! With apologies to all, this was a tip on a Lincoln site.

Vince, good video, but could you change your header to include Jaguar or XF or S Type?

Thanks man, good video. I just could not justify paying 55 dollars just to replace a cabin filter from Jaguar.

    Vance
There is no free lunch when you work on these Jaguars, I have been at some 40 plus years and the manual is usually the best way. If you don't remove the wipers and the whole plastic cover with the push pins there is a serious knock on effect you may not realize until the water hits your electrics or your feet. The slack A** dealer that put one in for me ( which was not disclosed or requested ) tore the coaming seal on the left side due to the pressure from lifting it asymmetrically. This causes a serious leak above your left foot at the top of the weather seal. BTW the push pins on the cover are accessed from below with a smallish tool to lift them from below with out damage or deformation.
    Otherwise not a bad tutorial
    Robert

Point well taken! I replaced mine per video (and just prior to your post), and now have some rainwater running onto driver's side sill and dampness under gas pedal, even at a standstill. I presume this could be same problem and would appreciate knowing what to look for and how to repair.
