Houston Rockets guard James Harden in a workout with Rockets great Hakeem Olajuwon. Dream shows the Beard spin moves in the post. This was the Rockets' first official training camp practice of the 2013-14 season. It took place at the Toyota Center on 9/28/2013.
Howards got two greatest post players to learn from. If he doesn't learn now he never will.
two of the greatest post players of all time in the building
Truth!
Time to sign Dream to a 10-day contract.
Mikel Moon 😂😂👍🏻
Everyone loved Jordan at the time but Hakeem was my favorite.
0:44 look at that counter move hakeem pulls when harden predicts where he's going
It just made my heart so happy.
He once said he doesn’t think about it. He just goes wherever the ball takes him.
I would pay big bucks to see Mchale and The Dream go 1 v 1
Just post moves. that would be beatutiful.
hakeem would win...kevin McHale is like 65 years old lol
Paul George He probably meant in their primes.
In their primes, would be a DREAM matchup. I think the edge would have to go to Dream cause of the defensive skills. But McHale's "torture chamber" would be mighty tough to beat. Close one but I'd go Dream based off of his better defense than McHale
McHale would still school half the forwards in the league right NOW
Even at 50 Hakeem is so mobile, athletic,he preform post moves so easy on Harden.Howard need more 1-1 with Hakeem,he just shuts fucking freethrows.
+karlo.karlic He loves his Job thats why Hakeem is so great in his post
Hakeem is sooo smooth.. his movement is like all one motion
just shows how shit dwight how is when you have mchale and hakeem the two best footwork guys in the nba and still cant pick up one move
and he had Ewing in Orlando. no way someone teaches you mives and you not use them. unless you aint shit
He threw up left handed hooks
I enjoy watching the Dream work with the Rockets players. He still looks smooth!!!!!!
Gosh even without shooting a single shot, just see the dreams foot work, and effortlessly gliding around!!! Gave me goose bumps from all the memories of 93-96!!!! Watching him do that spin move two times on that one play against David Robinson, when they gave him the MVP trophy!! The dream quickly reminded everyone that night who was the best center in that era, and one of the greatest all time!! He is still the man!!!
0:55 lol James harden got ripped by Hakeem. Even at age 50, he steals the ball easily from a young offensive stud like James harden. Imagine just how great his defense truly is when he was in his prime. His hands are probably one of the quickest to ever play the game. His reactions and awareness is God like. That's greatness right there. One of the best offensive player and one of the best defensive player. Dirk nowitzki may passed him in all time scoring but that's because dirk shoots 3s. Dirk is a great player but people are out of their minds thinking dirk is better than Olajuwon because he scores more. Hakeem offensively is just as unstoppable, but he gives you 12-15 rebounds, 2-5 blocks, a few steals and 5-6 assist per game.
Moneygetjealous truth
Moneygetjealous Calm down man. No matter how good a player is, one move can't be mastered just after a few repetitions. Muscle memory takes a long time to develop. It's obvious that Harden hasn't practiced this move as much as Hakeem, and when Hakeem stole the ball, he was simply pointing out weaknesses in Harden's movements.
liquidpersuasion
Harden = the definition of loser
Are you freakin' kidding me? A true Center who can actually teach skills to a Guard!!
Mchale and dream, probably two best players who mixed mid-range with low-post to perfection.
If only howard had half the skill and work ethic of those two
lmao at dwight practicing freethrows
I really miss Yao and Tmac
Dwight's a lost cause, lets work with harden.
Exactly my thought! HAhahaa!
josemv25 Harden played with westbrook and durant and didn't win...so alone he won't win, it's a l'ost cause too... :-)
Yep he gon win a ring and mvp next year if rockets get melo
Rockets in the WCF so things looking good.
Well as good as few players r you need the entire team run smoothly
howard should work on his post.. you have hakeem & mchale there..
+Joshua Oliva the thing is Howard is not one of those people who like to cooperate. He thinks he's the best and raises himself above the others.
+Joshua Oliva imagine if howard was a cup, half full. he is refusing to lower the height of the cup so mchale and hakeem can teach him
+Joshua Oliva He has the moves, he showed it in game 2 in the Portland series in 2014. He is so big he thinks he can still bully people like he did when he was in Orlando, he will get his wake up call eventually.
exactly
yeah!!! that's what I was thinking about.
0:46 Harden anticipates the move Hakeem will do, and the Dream puts the spin cycle on him. Legend.
With Hakeem and McHale the Rocket players have no excuse to not be skilled in the low post
Very True
@@cobinalee4568 except dwight
Unfortunately the NBA is pretty much devoid of true low post play.
@@ATLienForLife - …until Alperen Sengun (16 pick in 2021 NBA Draft by Thunder and traded to the Houston Rockets) and company revitalize post play by putting on a show and giving opponents that work.
@@mikelmoon100 That would be a nice thing to see
With more than 50 years , still Hakeem still better than all the centers playing 10 years in the NBA All told , there is not one with those movements and footwork THE DREAM FOREVER .
They are all fitted , indelicate , and boisterous , playing nothing , only violence dunk with no art in their hands.
harden takes direction well, howard on the other hand...
i dont know, if you have seen Howard lately you can definitely tell he's been workin with the dream
texaninvasian yes i can. This comment was posted more than a week ago. I remember when hakeem first tried to teach Howard and Howard was going no where. About time for us to see some results.
2 of the best post players right there mchale and hakeem
Dream still so smooth...
Houston looks like a fun environment to play
forget hakeem and harden dwight is making free throws
No one players can move so smooth like hakeem do,he was phenomenal center
I am so excited right now
The greatest footwork of any big man in basketball history!!!
Kevin and Hakeem the two bigmans with the best post moves teaching u- lucky!
Insane. He had McHale and Dream coaching him together at one point. That's like having MJ and Kobe together to teach you to shoot fadeaways.
Imagine you are a big man and have McHale and Hakeem on your org. #blessing
its the ultimate icing on the cake to have the dream on the coaching staff..
Howard is the one that need to be working with the dream the dream is one of the best big man to every play the game and you are over there shooting free throws
That is wrong with game today big man wants to be point guards Howard game has not not any better since he came in the NBA
ohh the shut the fuck up...
Hes been killing it lately
Shooting gaurds are known for post play but I agree with you. DF is going on.
Yeah but hakeem was great at free throws im sure he agrees with dwight working on them it seems like most big men dont practice them ever
I think Harden would excel in the post, learning from the 2 best post players ever is a great start.
Working with McHale and Hakeem at the same time. James Harden has the potential to become the next great SG.
Howard training all day freethrows xDD
haha yea. Must be paying off as he has got better lately
Finally, I, James Harden working on his one of his weaknesses, his right hand. If he keeps this up he'll be a three dimensional, legit scoring threat in the NBA. You mark my words💯
The amazing thing about Hakeem is how does he remember all of these moves? The dude is just awesome!!
Vernon Gray its like riding a bike think about how long he has been doing those moves
Dream could definitely give a team some production. He's still quick as hell.
harden let this veteran steal the ball from him. Hakeem should really leave retirement and show them how its done XD
Hakeem was top 10 all time in steals when he retired though ...
And he routinely picked pockets of point guards...
Dream had the best post moves ever. He was the epitome of a do it all center.
Talk about experience - McHale and Hakeem teaching Harden
A center teacher spin moves to a point guard. Wow skills.
Actually they are messing with Howards head. Howard is weak on the post moves and its affecting his free throw while harden is working out with hakeem. So really Howard is getting a mental work out.
most interesting thing bout this video was the fact that dwight was actually making free throws...
can't wait new season.. damn
dwight working on his free throws. Good.
Hakeeeeeem :! he is in good shape i think he could play
I could watch Dream teach all day
I'd love to see dream shakes make a comeback at houston. So smooth
The Dream is the Dream. look like dancing all the time. He can join Dancing with the Star.
wow just wow. kevin mchale and hakeem olajuwon. it would be a miracle if howard would not be incredible in the post
He made 82% of 1500+ free throws last yr in practice. It's all mental in those games
if James Harden ads dream shake moves to his game that will really be scary. anticipating him to side step then boom he pivots and stuff. man...!
Hakeem Olajuwon is the greatest post player of all time when it comes to footwork. Kevin McHale is the greatest post player with his hands. You literally couldn't hand pluck a greater pair to teach you post moves out of all basketball history.
the Dream can still shake and bake his move way to the basket!
uuh hakeems spins look still so smoove...
if james harden have the post up moves too, damn hes gonna be dominating the floor big time.
I hope harden fully knows how iconic Hakeem will be 100 years from now and cherish this moment... Dwight would be very wise to do the same
Hakeem Olajuwon doing that to james rockets gone have hard time wining championship
kevin mc hale and the dream, quite good teachers
Hakeem is in his 50's and still school those young buck super stars of today. M
Look at Howard trying to get in on the lesson at 3:50. Have a seat you passionless scrub.
😂😂😂😂😂
I know..I was like..get out the damned way Dwight and get back to missing your free throws.
Dream's a beast
DAMN, dream still shakin' and bakin'
I wanna see mchale play hakeem one on one
+Vincent Lau at their ages, now? Hakeem would win cause he's younger
Didn't they meet in the 86 Finals??
@@tubenachos ya. A sophomore akeem v prime mchale. Sorry for the 2 year late reply. Maybe another reply two years from now will come
People like David Robinson and Shaq watched tons of game tape of Hakeem playing, and they couldn't stop him. Seeing it and stopping it are two different things. Shaq even mentioned Hakeem being the greatest center there is because there was no way to prepare for him.
the beard's righty layup is jv material.
Sssshhh he is working on his free throws lets keep it that way.
DH looking jealous. The Beard getting some Dream Shake and DH gets to stand still and do free throw :))
Hakeem looks like he could still give a team about 15-20 min a game.
the best part of this video is not that hakeem and mchale are coaching up harden but that dwight is practicing free throws lol
Howard should just accept a role as a defensive leader and not being the 1st or even 2nd option on offense. He should still being involved in the pick n roll and get some post ups. But that shouldn't be the primary attack for the Houston offense. He could be a monster on the offensive glass if his man has to leave him to help.
harden will not use these moves. this dude auto step back everytime
Go to google images and type in "laker free throws" and there is a picture of a board that has free throws shot in practice/games
Damn, I would kill to be at that practice
Haha have to agree with jvino, by the time the season starts everybody's gonna be dream shaking around everyone. It'll be like a mini army of Olajuwan prodigy's hahaha.
James Harden was like, "nah, this is too hard. I'll just learn how to travel."
Keep those free throws coming Dwight !
hakeem needs to be in dancing with the stars haha
Players like Kobe and Lebron have started using his moves in the post a lot. However, I do agree a large number of those he has mentored don't seem to be able to implement the full array of skills.
harden got good foot work
i dont understand why no one seems to want to tell dwight howard that he's meant to use his lower body to elevate and shoot....he's only using his upper body when shooting the ball, no shit that he's not making much of his freethrows nor jumpshots.
Harden will be more dangerous around the basketball with Hakeem the Dream helping him with his footwork
I saw him do that move against the pacers! thumbs up if you saw it :)))
Hakeem is a coach now he will train with Howard all the time.
He just flicks it
Freakin' Hakeem. I bet he could still play at a high level.
when will we see a video of james harden working on his defense
Kevin Tran hes playing better d this year
Good video
Hakeem is going to have everyone on the Rockets doing dream shakes nshit lol.
harden needs to take some dance classes to get them spin moves down. he's taking an extra step where hakeem never needs to.
He obviously does, these guys breath basketball.
Harden used this move to get to the basket vs the Pacers in the preseason.
this is what separates kobe from harden, footwork in the post
MrCheeseguy123 Harden doesn't need post anymore. He's a point guard and shooting guard that gets 30 and 10 daily
If Dwight can´t dominate and be a winner this season... Man I don´t even know what to say. Kevin & Hakeem coaching him? Oh and The Beard lookin good
Hakeem The Dream my nigga
he needs to spend more time on freethrows.. he's dominant as he is and has learned and practiced good fundamentals with them, but in clutch situations, it's easy to just foul Howard (hacking him before the 2 minute mark nonstop) so we need him to make freethrows. and he will get fouled a lot around the rim too.. rockets have a very dominant team from what I've seen
Or like Bill Russel and Denis Rodman teaching you how to rebound
Two Hall of Famers
