    This video was made a year ago so i think my comment is a little late. for more precise measurements you can measure from the shoulder of the strut (a line machined on the strut where it will get bigger diameter) instead of the thread, as the thread is not parallel line horizontally. even 1 mm can make a difference.
    if you are going aggressive i would recommend "eccentric top mounts" so you can set the correct camber and caster at an alignment shop after.
    for wheels, yes some lighter wheels with correct offset would be best option, spacers not recommended as will put more stress on your wheel bearings and will make the tire close to the wheel arch / fender edge and trim.
    from having a gen 1 and gen 2 Cooper S, i think the factory suspension is very good setup, i think a 10mm drop if you wanted would be ok, but 15mm or more not for road use. as then you need to change a bunch of other things.
    good on you for trying to do all this by yourself.
    look at Demon Tweaks, or ECS tuning for wheels / parts etc. or more local if you know where to find. generally with wheels, you need to check out all the details, like size, offset, hole spacing, how they are manufactured (flow form good option, forged are obviously best but cost the earth) weight is a very important factor to consider. less weight better performance and less stress on other car components. you get what you pay for normally.

    Speedline Corse 2120 Turini Alloy 17" wheels i had on a Subaru back in 2010. awesome wheels, but again you pay for them.

      Thank you for this elaborate comment! I'll definitely look into this as I have not yet gotten new wheels. I was checking out wheels from O.Z., the Formula HLT but as with any good brand - they cost a good amount. Wheels are such an important component that I want to save up though! I see the combination of KW and O.Z. Ultraleggera often on Mini at autocross. So I think it must be a great combination.

    Thank you for posting this. I agree with your take on this. KW should give an indication. Bilstein includes this information in their coilover kits.

  • @frax77
    @frax77 10 месяцев назад

    Yep, had the same issue with mine. A lot of the coil-over manufacturers will note that you may need to run a spacer, so I'm surprised that KW didn't. Best of luck finding suitable wheels.

      I felt like such an idiot! Didn't even consider this a potential issue. Rather than running spacers I wish KW would tell us which wheel specs we need..

    You did a great job , i think if you add wheel spacers ,maybe it will solve this issue

    Hey! you can use a spacer on the wheel and get your clearance, if you do not want to change your wheel.

      Hey, thanks for the comment :) As mentioned in another comment, spacers affect performance and are almost impossible to legalise in Austria anyways. So I am going to get new wheels, probably ET37!

    Yep dont go on spacers, definitely not recommended, vibrations on high speed and unsafe, better go with a lower ET wheels and problem solved...

      Thanks for the thought! However, I won't get spacers as they affect performance. It's also illegal in my country to have the wheel sticking out further than the fender! Laws are strict here 😅

      Et35 with a 7. 1/2nch wide rim will be perfect

    • @KiaraShifts
      @KiaraShifts  11 месяцев назад

      Thank you! Do you know if Et35 will stick out from the fender? Some friends of mine say the limit is 42, others say 37 but at that point the rims stick out past the fender 🧐

      @@KiaraShifts I don't know if you have solved this matter, but if you are still on it i can send you a photo of stock MY'12 wheels with 12mm spacers to see how close they are to the fender.
