  • I worked at Magic Mountain in Valencia California between 1974 and 1981 during and after college. This video slide show is of the people I worked with during that time. Photos taken in the park and from M.M. 1977 & 1978 Christmas Party at the Knollwood Country Club and Odyssey Restaurant in Granada hills as well as M.M. End of season parties in the park.
These employees are now in their late 40's to late 50's.
Do you know any of these folks? If you do, enter them in your comments and ID the slide using the time code at the bottom of the picture. Example: 1:10 Colleen Keyes.
    Enjoy!

Damn! I was born in 76 I'm 47 now would have loved to have been from that time period. Seemed like a much better place in time back when everybody was proud to be All American!✌️

The uniforms for the employees that worked on the Revolution during that era were really cool. I was hoping to see some familiar faces who also worked on Colossus, especially after it reopened in December of 1979 after being reprofiled and the addition of the new PTC Trains. When that version of Colossus reopened, I couldn't get enough of it. Colossus would be the 1st Coaster I'd run to when the gates opened up at 10am. I was in the Marine Corps stationed at Camp Pendleton, and made a few friends who were ride operators on Colossus 🎢🎢💞 I'm not a fan of Twisted Colossucks.

"One price is all you pay" was in comparison to Disneyland at the time, in which you had to buy tickets for the rides. Of course, it's difficult to buy nothing once you get in the park.

I remember this original theme music from 1971. My Uncle, Eugene "Doc" Lemmon, when he was on of the VP's of Seaworld, was tasked with picking the site of, and the naming of Magic Mountain. I went there on opening day in 1971. My uncle was the #1 man, the President there, but left by the mid 1970's. My cousin designed the original Magic Mountain logo, and I have my uncle's hard-had in my possesion, amongst other original memoribilia.
This same uncle of mine was involved at Disneyland from the very beginning as well. An author, Todd James Pierce just came out with his book in April of 2016, telling of untold stories of the making of Disneyland, in his book, "Three Years In Wonderland". My uncle is mentioned several times in the book. On page 104, Eugene "Doc" Lemmon is cited as, "the fifth official employee of Disneyland". His Disneyland experience came in handy in the making of Magic Mountain.

I worked in the employee side of Oasis Cafeteria the summer of '74 and then went to the Animal Farm in the fall and was there until '76. I recognized a few faces (remember the names? Uhhhh, no). Thank you for the video, it was so good to see these faces and also to see rides that are no longer there. Laurie

Bob Meza. A name I've not heard in lo these many years. Wow. I'll never forget what a great voice you had over the microphones. Dick Chapleau ring a bell from the Rusher, Jet Stream, Eagles Flight, and Grand Prix?

I worked with Nancy Streit, John and Fred Svendson, Roland Miller, Bruce Kemmell, Kevin Kelly, Mike Burganzel and many more.. there is also a website on the History of Santa Clarita Valley, they have a Magic Mountain section - you should share these amazing video's with them as well...

I wonder if anybody has a copy of the 16mm training films they showed in the 1980s ? I worked there in the mid 1990s and saw the film reels. I wonder what ever happened to them ? I know my dad has sound Super 8mm footage shot in the late 1970s or the very early 1980s might be 1981. When I find them I will post I know there is 1 reel might be 2. so about 5 mins of footage. I know I shot video there in the mid 1980s.

Hi very interested in the music you have in the background. Do you have any more info where you got it or who did it? Radio commercial jingles I assume? The vibraphone is killing me on "It's A Magic Mountain Day"!

+newmusicmark I got this music when i worked at Magic Mountain in 1977 and used it for a college project. The music was used by Magic Mountain for their Radio and TV commercials. Don't know who did the music.

No Mercy That's cool. Do you have the original materials still? From a cassette? or an LP? Reel to reel?? :) I'd love to do so research into it if you have it still. Pics would be fine. I'm crossing my fingers! :)

+newmusicmark It was on a reel of tape. It went to the trash when I sold my reel to reel tape recorder, and why I posted it on youtube clean for all to enjoy. RUclips is the only copy now.
