    From experience I can tell you that the MacBook Pro stands up to abuse extremely well. I had a 10ft piece of plaster coving fall from the ceiling and land straight on the top of my MacBook Pro. It bounced off the display of the MacBook and hit me straight on the head, leaving me with with a massive lump on my head but not a scratch to the MacBook. There was a huge mark on it but after wiping it with a damp cloth it was completely gone. Also, magnesium is softer and more flexible than aluminum.

    As far as I know Intel made Thunderbolt in collaboration with Apple, so naturally the Apple devices got to use it first as they shared development of the technology. I think when people say these machines are MacBook Pro rip-offs they don't mean in terms of hardware but in terms of design. If you look at this machine and a MacBook Pro side-by-side they look almost exactly the same.

    GPU isn't only for gaming. Apple actually used to use Quadro and Fire type of GPU's in the past in their systems. They were meant for editing purposes. Since there nowadays is an overlap between the two (professional cards and gaming cards) they went for the more casual and cheaper solution.

    FYI: when you double tap the top left corner of the touchpad, it will turn on/off, as with all modern EliteBooks. Too bad it's just a 1366X768 display though, would have liked to see at least 1600X900, like on my 8560w

  • @Harmonyww

    The soundcard itself is fine. The fact that it's in a laptop and isn't shielded from interference from the other components is where it and every other laptop soundcard fall short. The fact that it's running through OS X is a huge advantage though. For example, when using MIDI controllers the latency is almost non-existent. In Windows it's almost impossible to achieve the same quality without paying out for an expensive external card. It's much better than fiddling around with ASIO4ALL drivers.

    To the whole 'Ultrabooks are Macbook rip-offs!' argument: INTEL was the company that came up with the idea of ultrabook, (if you look up specs for them, you'll find the guidelines that Intel made). Intel CPUs are used in both Macintosh and Windows based computer systems.
    Intel was also the company who created the thunderbolt port, they just decided to debut it on Macbooks.
    So no, there are no rip offs, there's only Intel trying to stir up a shit storm...of you idiots arguing.

    Why can't I discuss it? "Overpriced" is completely subjective. You may think that, and I do too about some of their products (mainly their desktop PCs.) I don't think that about their laptops though. And their accessories aren't that expensive. You can easily get third party accessories for cheap as their laptops are the most popular in their class. There's more to a computer than its processor by the way. I don't understand why people are so hung up on hardware specs anyway.

    Cisco is a fortune 500 company. They don't care about being famous, they are a networking company. They have a business to run and they saw value in apple for their company and employees. Also I don't need to link anywhere, I say that through my own experience. I've had PCs for over 15 years and recently got some macs. Bootcamp runs better than any windows installed PC as it does not come with bloatware. Bloatware by the way is paid my symantec, mcafee, etc to the manufacturers of your pcs.

    They're easy to open up. The MacBook Pro is geared towards being a portable, wireless machine, but you can buy a cheap Ethernet port accessory if you actually need one. The I/O is no worse than anything else on the market. And it's certainly nothing like a tablet. No touch screen for a start. The swappable battery is something that may put some people off. Not making the battery immediately swappable meant they could fit a bigger battery in though, so it's an advantage to the average user.

  • @stevewang

    Check out some of the side by side tests. A drop that completely shatters the Galaxy S3 and leaves it damaged beyond repair and in dozens of pieces on the floor only causes a cosmetic scratch on the side of the iPhone 5. I don't know about the iPhone 4, but the iPhone 5 is far better quality than anything Samsung are offering.

    Actually the first company to ever invent the ever so popular smartphone was IBM in 1992 with the Simon Personal Communicator. Also the first smartphone to have GPS, music player, and web browsing was the Nokia N95 which was released in March of 2007. Also without Samsung your precious little iPhone wouldn't even be made. look up the parts in the iPhone and most of them are made by Samsung like the A6 Processor and the memory that is on the phone also the Retina is a Samsung made product aswell.

  • @Harmonyww

    I don't think he's referring to that specifically. I first saw this video while using a MacBook Pro and the shape of the keys, the shape and indentation of the area around the keyboard, the colour, and font used all look exactly the same. I thought it was a comparison between some HP laptop and the MacBook Pro or something, as this laptop looks so much like it.

    Their website disagrees. USB 3.0 is a listed feature on every single computer Apple make aside from the Mac Pro, which is getting upgraded soon and isn't a consumer grade product. People should really look up all the nonsense they think about Apple before passing judgement. Most of it stopped being true 5 years ago.

  • @Harmonyww
    @Harmonyww 11 лет назад

    They have improved massively in the last 4 years or so. 10 years ago it was true that they used vastly overpriced and outdated hardware, but that's not true now. You may not need to upgrade the MacBook as it's already more powerful than this machine. And it's not really fair to say that Apple use outdated hardware when you're looking at a machine with a VGA port and a pointing stick in the middle of the keyboard. The MacBook Pro has more accessories than just about any other laptop on the market

  • @Harmonyww

    By the way, when I completely destroyed my brand new MacBook Pro by spilling a drink on it, guess how much Apple charged for repairs? Bare in mind, they had to replace the i7 processor, the network card, sound card, graphics card, etc. and the keyboard. They charged me £160, and they told me "we're not sure if the RAM needs replacing, but if it does the best thing to do is order it online and fit it yourself. Works out quicker and cheaper that way." HP would never be that awesome.

  • @Harmonyww
    @Harmonyww 11 лет назад

    For certain tasks Windows "sucks balls" too. Sure you can get the same processor, GPU, HDD, and RAM for less, but there's more to a computer than that. Even the machines that are just as powerful as the MacBook Pro cost almost as much. They're really not as overpriced as people seem to think. If you really can find a laptop that's just as powerful as the MacBook Pro but costs even 50% of the price, post a link here. I'll be impressed if you can.

I personally find it disgusting that the base line Mac Pro costs twice ad much as my PC and has a 5770 in it. Even the iMac is better value than the Mac Pro, Apple are basically just charging you for very basic levels of upgradability

When the iPhone first came out, people weren't even sure whether they should call it a smartphone. And you're saying that it's the first samrtphone? Palm, Windows Mobile, Symbian were very active on the market when Apple entered the market wit the iPhone that lacked (en still lacks) lots of functionality that those devices already had.
