Great video…. I’d like to see a tool matchup of the Dewalt Xtreme SDS hammer drill and the new Milwaukee M12 Fuel hammer drill. I’m curious to see if there’s much of a difference drilling concrete with these tools.
I ran my new gen 3 with a 1 1/2 in Milwaukee switchblade bore bit on speed 2 and it didn't even stutter. The new gen 3 ID is a monster as well, especially to be so compact.
I have the dewalt 12v hammer drill. I've had for awhile I use and abuse it and it's never failed me. It drills holes in concrete with no problems. I actually sold all my milwaukee 12v and went will dewalt and it's the best move I made.
Dave this is the award winning video….I’m shocked with the results..I have all 3 except Hilti..the new M12 let me down with the hole saw and the concrete test. I could be wrong but if the new M12 has higher torque claims how did it loose the hole saw challenge, just curious..the dewalt was awesome..they are all good.
no tool gets a fresh brand new bit. these bits have been used for years. and no, I am not going to buy a brand new bit per tool for each video. the only bits I replace often are concrete bits. most of these bits are $10-$15 each and it would be a waste of material to just throw a bit away after a single test.
I have been passing up the Makita CXT drill combo clearanced at Home Depot at $79 and a 5 amp hour battery on clearance as well for $39 figuring these small tools don't have power. Maybe I will rethink my decision and stop in and see if they are still available tomorrow.
Check if it’s brushed or brushless. I have a brushed CXT and it definitely feels lightweight compared with M12 Fuel. I haven’t tested it hard, but I’d be amazed if it came close to competing. (Whether you need the power or not….that’s a good question)
Makitas have underwhelming power for the price of their tools. If it's the brushed on clearance 900 inch pounds ain't much for 12v. Their CXT brushed drill is weak too. Very underwhelming performance, compared to even their own brushless models they replace.
I have that Makita CXT drill & impact driver kit which I bought on sale 2 years ago for $99. It's much less powerful than the Milwaukee Fuel 12v or DeWalt brushless 12v counterparts. That said it's does what I need it to do for regular household maintenance and light building (drilling and screwing together 2x4 studs). Their lightweight makes them better to work with. I have a set of Makita 18v brushless for more intense work but to tell the truth I rarely need to use them. I think for $79 the CXT combo kit is a great deal unless you just want one set to do all.
So I know this is a couple weeks old, but I'm looking to eventually upgrade my old Craftsman C3 drill. I really like the DeWalt 12v Xtreme line but I am also thinking of the Atomic drill since it is only a little bigger but gets me on the 20v line. Have you done a comparison between the Atomic and Xtreme drills? They seem to be so close in size and power that it seems like an interesting comparison. I enjoy your channel!
Good video! Just two things: 1. The Skil Pwrcore12 drill is missing from the lineup. I found it to be just as strong as the DeWalt and stronger than the previous gen of M12 Fuel. 2. When you show the results, having the bar graph version is easier to decipher, but if you place the best on the left and work from there instead of keeping each tool in the same spot might help some of us figure out which is leading - or display the results longer. Overall, I like the changes!
@@luisinhoens90 do you have a model number on that new Pwrcore12 drill? The Skil 12V impact driver was less than impressive against my M12 Surge driver and DeWalt 12V impact driver, so it would be interesting to see how a newer, more powerful one would stand up to the Surge.
We’re those pumpkins 12volt pumpkins? I have 12v DeWalt and Milwaukee tools and like them both. I used to have a 12v Ridgid drill that worked great. But my wife and daughter took it away from me for their use solely 😂
The Gen 2 M12 Fuel is 25,500 BPM, not 32,500 which is actually top tier 18V tool value. But it still makes sense as there are still 3000 BPM over the Gen 3 which didn't perform as good on concrete
I've noticed mulwaukees drill in speed 2 will actually rev way down before cutting out. Dewalts drill slow down a little and cut out. So its hard to say which is stronger when one does cut it from bogging down
@@ManCaverTools so get the Gen 2 for hammering and the Gen 3 for drilling and driving. Got it. Or just skip these for hammer function and get a 12V SDS rotary hammer drill...
The problem with the Gen 2 is the speed 2 gear ratio. It's like trying to haul a trailer up a hill in 6th gear. It spins the fastest but it is not a patch on the Gen 3 for torque.
@@procrastinator1842 And the Gen-2 has a terrible e-clutch and trigger. The Gen-3 is leagues better than the Gen-2. Heat isn't an issue for the types of tasks that a 12v drill is typically used for. If you're drilling holes in concrete and using large diameter hole saws, you should be using an 18v drill to begin with.
@@ZeGermanHam All I need the Gen 3 M12 to do is sufficiently drill 1" holes in pine with a spade bit. 100 holes or so, once a week. Every other tool in the M12 line up is more than enough for my work (electrician), so to just have one M18 tool and the rest all m12 is insane IMO. Its like running 2 brands of tools.
With these concrete hammer drill tests, the quality of the hole matters. Most of these under powered drills result in lots of chip out near the top of the hole.
You weight chart isn't quite right. You need to convert oz into lbs to get the scale right. The bar on the chart is showing the hilti as 2.11 lbs when its actually 2lbs 11oz. It should be at 2.7lbs on the bar chart.
Dave just my opinion but I think you need to slow down during these videos. You go through the video so fast we don’t even have time to acknowledge what’s going on.

If the battery didn't go into the handle it wouldn't be so bad. they should really switch it up to and make it the slide under like their own 18v line up and every other 12v line except Bosch
It’s funny, I didn’t notice that until I tried a Makita 12v. Much nicer grip. I find I’m often using my tools in weird and cramped positions where I can’t hold them normally, so it doesn’t really matter to me.

I think the gen 3 m12 fuel drill didn't do so well with the hole bit because the hilti just ruined the sharpness with all the spinning and no cutting
