    simple WD-40 will make most sketchy wiring connect. once in a while spray down the main ground wires at least. Can also spray a lil on battery connections

    Have you checked your spare tire pressure? Sucks when you realize it’s flat and you need it. Being comfortable changing it might require practice in driveway. Keep on keeping on

    • @LindsayDaly
      @LindsayDaly  3 года назад +2

      Thank you! It feels like it’s escalating quickly, and it’s getting exciting! Haha and well…I actually don’t have a spare tire. I negotiated the price down a bit actually when I bought it, because the spare tire was missing. But I’ll certainly need one (and I’ll need to learn how to change a tire!) once I go on longer trips. For now I’ve not been going too far, and all my tires are brand new, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed and my AAA card in my wallet lol.

    Very cool! You are a total badass for doing this all yourself! Very inspiring! I had a question as I'm doing a Chevy Van right now. Was it easy to pop off the door well (plastic on passenger entry step) and plastic in front of where the back door closes? I'm looking to tuck flooring under them and have them reinstalled. Does it seem like something that can be reinstalled once removed?

    • @LindsayDaly
      @LindsayDaly  Год назад +1

      I do recall the plastic at the back door having these little plastic clips on them, it might be fussy, but if you’re careful not to snap those off in the removal process, you might be able to add it back in place! I’m a little less sure with the side door footwell though, can’t quite remember how it was attached, sorry!

    Found you via Lefie and have been following for a while. I've always enjoyed the forthright honesty of your narration combined with thoughtful shooting and editing choices, and this series delivers on that. But mostly I'm commenting to mention that the music at 11:00 really reminded me of something and I finally realized it was the intro theme to Last Week Tonight.

    Thank God I was able to find a Chevy express build from start to finish. I just bought one. Mine is a 1999. Question: I didn't catch what size plywood you used for the sub floor. Was it a 1/4 inch?

    • @LindsayDaly
      @LindsayDaly  Год назад

      It was, but I recommend ½ inch! Better to anchor furniture into - I mention in my kitchen build video how it was sort of an early mistake of mine, and that I should have gone with ½ inch!

    im confused why did you fill in the floor channels with wood? maybe im missing something idk

    • @LindsayDaly
      @LindsayDaly  2 года назад

      Mainly for stability’s sake to keep the floor “level”. In the thinner channels it’s not as much of an issue, but the corrugation is really only in the center, and it creates an uneven surface in larger areas like corners or sides of the van, which would make the eventual floor unstable. Might be smarter to put a bit of wool insulation in those gaps instead though, to be honest!

    • @saltpepper1894
      @saltpepper1894 2 года назад +1

      @@LindsayDaly ah just use thicker plywood then the gaps wont matter

    • @LindsayDaly
      @LindsayDaly  2 года назад

      Pretty much - if I did it over again, I would use ½” ply, not ¼”. I was trying to save myself the headroom since it’s at a premium in this van, but it’s a mistake I’ll be paying for kinda soon, because I need to add more wood to the floor to give my eventual furniture and cabinets something to screw into!

    Lindsey you're editing is done so well, and suspect this will evolve into a massive channel. Looking forward to watching the progression of the vehicle and the channel.
    My Boys and I are currently do a similar build on this really kewl 70's E100. Definitely not as practical, but none the less will be an awesome experience to have with my kids. I really thought these passenger vans would have enough room for a fairly comfortable conversion. It's amazing how quickly these little bastards fill up though. I'm really struggling with the whole practicality vs esthetics. Hard wood, and veneer looks great on the Gram, but it makes infinitely more sense to do carpet (you're always on your knees) and soft touch material on the ceiling (head). The increased weight is really noticable as well when framing out an entire camper. If you're not interested in resell, do what makes sense. The butcher block counter tops and tile backsplash loose their luster quickly after realizing how impractical they are. Just some things I've realized over my building process. Regardless, it's really rewarding project.

    • @LindsayDaly
      @LindsayDaly  2 года назад

      Thank you so much for watching! One of the nicest things people can say.
      And wow, my van is strictly a one-person (MAYBE two!) deal so that’s wild! Couldn’t imagine trying to make the space work for more people!! Hope they’re enjoying it with you and learning a lot - I know I am!
      One thing I’ll say is this - there is no way in HELL I am tiling anything haha, so fair point there. I’ve been turning it around in my mind constantly and I’m planning on finalizing the layout this week - there’s just so much to think about!
