Vibrato effect looped and played back slower/lower sounds great. Turning on Pre-FX for the Looper would allow additional vibrato effect, which could lead to even more wonderful wow & flutter sounds… 🤔
AFAIK Pre-FX just means the signal is hitting the looper before the FX. It allows to affect one algorithm to several layers recorded. If you use post-FX, you can record each layer with a different algorithm. I don't see how it would allow more vibrato effect to activate Pre-FX.
Just to add, Antoine, you are a master of getting interesting sounds out of effects. Taking a closer look at this video on the Microcosm, I'm exceptionally intrigued. Especially so in how you've unlocked some secrets to getting some truly beautiful - and USEFUL - colorings out of what it is capable of, yet without overwhelming the characteristics of the guitar and the chords being played. This pedal has so many possibilities - I just need to find a used one, as they are crazy expensive. Nowadays, I can't afford gimmicky pedals that just do one or two things well - I will only buy pedals offering considerable versatility and uniqueness. I especially like effects that enhance the musical soundscape while offering exciting new textures and sounds.
I've been seriously into effects since the early 1980s. And what I've found is that most radical effects, if used to great intensity and saturation, simply are just way too much, and ultimately, can sound repetitive and not as useful. But by using such effects in a far more subtle way, least in output/mix while also letting the warmth and natural characteristics of the guitar and amp shine through, is a much better approach. LESS truly often is more EFFECTIVE when used more transparently and not so heavy handed. And the more versatile and useful an effect is in multiple applications, the much more important it becomes. Sometimes, if not used sparingly, effects can easily overwhelm the sound spectrum.
I agree Philip.. I'm listening too a lot of shoegaze. I think that with a smart use of effects, right dose, good combined layers of guitars you can get a lot of sound already. More than with big pedals , levels maxed out, that are not used smart, not combined in complementary layers. It is a very interesting challenge. But maybe that's not what you meant.
Very nice! I'm getting one coming with zero idea what to do with all those knobs. You covered it all crystal clear. Plus it's a big bonus you still can get traditional sounds from this pedal. Thanks man.
Excellent video. You explain the pedal quite well. Since I own one as well I also enthused. Thanks a lot for your excellent work. Many regards from Chris
@@dougc84 Thanks for your reply. The MOOD is great and very inspiring. Where have you placed your MOOD in your signal chain? Mine is just before my looper.
You Sir, ARE AWESOME! Step by step, clear instructions 😊… I can tell by the comments I am not alone in my confusion opening up these functions of this great pedal! If I master the capabilities of the pedal’s I own I’d avoid buying more 😅. I’ve had luck with many but the odd one has structures that aren’t intuitive to me (Meris Hedra - I’m looking at you!). Thank You for all you do and share!
Excellent Video Antoine! Been considering this pedal for some time, and you may have moved me closer to a purchase! Thanks for showing us all that this thing is capable of!
You saved me some money sir. I was just about to buy a modulation and reverb pedal because so far I’ve only gotten Granular sounds from Microcosm which are also great. Do you know if it can save presets with just the reverb and modulation settings in looper mode?
Love your approach to this thing! I was asking myself if I could disable all that "weird" stuff and just use the reverb/filter/modulation too. Microcosm effects are too crazy for me as they're unpredictable and behave differently even on the same signal depending on whether it has some reverb already on it (just a touch!) or not, i.e. it wants dry tone for maximum effect.
hi , great. thank you.. Antoine question.. Wich power suply do you use for your standard Ambient pedal board,, The Boomerang need 700mA how do you resolve this? Thank you bye TOM
I use Voodoo Labs 4x4 power supplies, and I use a current doubler cable for the Boomerang. I explain it in this video: ruclips.net/video/dn37a1sgYCw/видео.html
I feel like every ambient guitar player that has this pedal has had the moment where they go “ Holy shit this isn’t hype it really does shit my whole board “😂😂
Simplest way: plug instrument into input of Microcosm. Plug outputs of Microcosm into Mic/Line1 and 2 at the back of the Apollo Twin. Plug Apollo Twin into computer. Voilà!
I have 3 Strymon pedals and the microcosm. All the pedals do completely different things and have plenty of options plus all are midi capable. Sounds like a good problem to have.
I just purchased a Hologram Electronics Infinite Jets and am wondering if you have demoed one? I’m keen to use it for ambient guitar and synth work but would be interested if there are any sound hacks like the ones you presented in this video? Hologram Electronics are know to reward deep diving 🤿
Probably the best vid on opening up the hologram to the possibilities. Great and awesome job
I really like how you talk your viewers through your ideas in simple steps ❤

Finally you talk about that one pedal I waited so long to see on your board !

Very enlightening ! I haven't explored this side of the microcosm yet but I definitely will now !

Very cool! Awesome insight on a widely varied pedal, Thank you!
Suggest doing more videos like this and unique sound design using pedal combos... ☺️
This particular pedal in the UK is as rare as unicorn excrement. I recently added the CBA M O O D to the board, great for drones.
MOOD is amazing. I use the Microcosm more, but the MOOD is a mainstay on any board. Just a great overall tool.

@@dontassumemyfender9866 I was doing that for a while. But now I have it in a parallel mixer (Matrise).
Best complementary demo for the possibilities, thank you!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👋🏼

Pulled the trigger yesterday morning and bought this. Now the wait...
Amazing ! I need another look on my microcosm 😍
Lmao... Yeah, me too... 😂
Excellent video, I love this pedal!

This dude has done the cheat code for us to skip needing an extra pedal for Lofi 5:06

It's it possible to overdrive it's input?
excellent video, its a very versatile pedal indeed!

great demo! thanks

Hello from Maine Antoine (right near New Brunswick). Have you ever tried the Matthews Effects Astronomer v2 pedal?
Hello Bruce! No, I did not.
My favorite pedal!
Thank you 👍
Excellent 👌
Thanks for another great video! I so want this pedal! Definitely on my wish list!
Thank you
POWERFUL!
i love your creativity with your pedals. i do miss the "30 minutes with..."
Tysm for this video. Where would you place it in the chain ?
After modulation pedals, before reverb pedal!

Call the folks at Boomerang. You only need 400mA…the other amount is if you attach their other product.
MICROCOSM NEED A APP EDITOR FOR MOVIL AND MAC

how do I connect an apollo twin x to the Microcosm pedal in order to get sound ?

Incredible video. The instructions are terrible so this video is amazing
Hey antione not sure if you’re aware but ambient guitar academy is down.
Yes, I know, thanks Don. The team is working on a fix, it should be ok in a few minutes, an hour max. Thanks for your patience!
Do not replace your pedals just keep adding more.
You’re not helping my GAS! 😖
Way too many steps to remember. This is definitely just for playing at home as a toy.
U have a problem man, u have all the strymons pedal and also.. this?! Take care of u. I'm trying to quit this kind of compulsions 😂
