    Can you imagine her in the White House? What a force of nature. She was so unique, a one and only. There really, truly is no one who can compare to her today. And that, it seems to me, is our loss.

    This was the pivotal moment in the impeachment process. They were going to wimp out on impeaching Nixon. This was truly the speech heard around the world. Thank you Ms. Jordan!

    I have been listening to Rep. Jordan's eloquent speech many times in recent days. Her calm, reasoned words come to us now to reassure us -- we must stand up for these great values and not sit by like idle spectators, as she says. She inspires me, now and always.

    This is an eloquent explanation of the balance of, and separation of powers within the three branches of government.
    I note with some irony that the problems she mentions that Congress must face are still the same in 2016

    This is what a true public servant sounds like. Smart, reasoned, fair, and relentlessly focused on doing what is right. Just imagine how she would take down the Trump defenders of today, who have none of the qualities I’ve mentioned. She was one of the greats.

    I respectfully disagree with the written commentary preceding Ms. Jordan's speech. To me, she wasn't pushing for impeachment, rather, she was refocusing her colleagues on the task at hand and making sure events proceeded in the proper manner. In short, she gave them a scolding and a refresher course on Constitutional Law.

    • @wordforger
      @wordforger 5 лет назад +3

      Well, she was pushing for impeachment if you watch the entire speech, though. The first part is a schooling in Constitutional Law and pointing out that you don't need to think removal from office is necessary to impeach, only that you think that the President she be called up to answer questions about possible misconduct and abuse of the public trust. The second part is applying the "high crimes and misdemeanors" definition to Nixon's actions as a basis for impeachment.

    • @essentialoilqueen6345
      @essentialoilqueen6345 4 года назад

      I totally agree with you. I didn't get that she was pushing for impeachment instead letting her constituents know how their conduct should be in considering impeachment.

    Cuts out the most POWERFUL-line of the congresswoman's speech (in my opinion), which was:
    "If the impeachment-provision in the constitution of the in the United States, will NOT reach the offenses charged HERE, then this 17th century Constitution...should be abandoned to a 20th-century paper shredder." This line has been STUCK in mind/heart for many years.

    The democratic party is nothing like this today. It is all about the party now, not about the constitution. Some even openly deride the constitution. It has devolved into which party can score more political points and/or votes.
