I think the only reason people mistake them for women is because they haven't seen Korean girls. I feel like if you look at girl korean you can easily tell them from a Korean male. Plus because us Westerners have a set picture of what a male should be so we automatically think they look feminine lol. I feel like we all go through this before becoming an ARMY lol. Just 30 years ago men's makeup was almost taboo here, and no pink color clothes for men, we also had similar stereotype but now our new generation have totally different thinking about this. this can happen in your country anytime and change the way of their thinking in few years or more

I totally understand... my non K-pop friends and family say are pretty much say the same thing. When i first listen to some of the BTS music, i don't think i like it too. But it grows in you as you listen more and more. And I don't speak Korean either and I don't even need translation because when I hear the sound and if it sounds good...i feel it. I know there are people out there that are turn off by just one thing: they don't speak your language. I KNOW that for a fact because I have been on the other side and hesitated and I have jumped over a long long time ago by listening to Spanish songs from Enrique Iglesia and even some Russian songs which sound amazing and it touches you even though I don't even understand the language. These are what I called "close minded" people. Your sister is an example of that. An open minded people, they don't judge others as much but watch without critique too much. When you judge and compare, you lose a sense of what reality is because you're creating your own reality. So if someone's reality doesn't meet yours, you reject it. It can even go over the line. So when she said I feel like they're using plastic surgery. That can be a bit insulting because she's creating this reality where oh they can't be looking like this, therefore it must be plastic surgery. Again, quickly judging others without investigating or bother finding out the truths. This is what close minded people normally do.

I have ignored BTS for a long time just because they are sooooo hyped n a phenomenon n i kinda did not want to get caught up. Not gonna lie, i had some stereotypical thoughts too from the glimpses i had... Then one fine day i saw Boy with love video with Halsey n i was kinda intrigued n wanted to know who was whom because i could not tell them apart. So i watched another videos about the 7 members of the bangtan boys n they really snuck into my heart after that. N really really REALLY started to enjoy their music. If u jst get to know them a bit n pay a lil attention their music has such nuances... Nowadays i drown myself in the BTS ocean whenever i have the time. N 95% of the non-kpop reactors reacting to BTS for the 1st time give such positive reactions, they literally go from "umm ok lets see wat this is all abt" to " Omygaaaaadddddd this is crazy how did i not kno them they r life im an army". PS- it took me 5 days to successfully tell them apart even if i was utterly in love from the 2nd day. Im jst bad with faces. 😅

I needed to comment simply because this sister has some preconceived ideas that are totally screwed... makeup is not new to American entertainers....not all Korean entertainers get plastic surgery...and so on. My curiosity led me to learn what BTS is all about so like a sponge I absorbed all that info which started my love affair with them...they are gorgeous, their message is inspirational, they are great storytellers, they are individually talented and together they are magic 💥💥 so far I turned my sister on to them and she is now a dedicated army as well as myself. Just to clear it up a little, as wonderful as J-Hope's dancing is, he didn't learn the entire choreography in ten minutes. It was the end part with the fancy footwork that he learned so quickly. The rest of the members struggled with it.

They worked on it a long time while Jhope was elsewhere. Then he came in and learned it in 10 minutes. One of the interviews must have been mistranslated.

I'm late to the party. New viewer here ✋🏿 hello everyone! I understand your sister's reaction completely. My friends currently don't like Kpop and do not want to watch any. But they like Kdrama. They never used to like Kdrama years ago when I was watching it. They found me weird because I'm from East Africa. So how is that possible?🙆🏿. Anyway fast forward to today they like Kdrama. Im shocked myself but like you said it takes time for some people. It has to grow on them. For some it takes less time. What I did do is introduce a beat or style that is almost similar to what they like. If one of my friends likes hip pop/rap I'd put them onto Mic Drop as an introduction. Then let them breeze slowly into the softer type and viice versa. Something that will capture their attention on the spot. Sometimes I'm lucky to have people who just genuinely are open minded to anything even if it's completely different from what they like e. g my sister. Cheers!

When i first listen to some of the BTS music, i don't think i like it too. But it grows in you as you listen more and more. And I don't speak Korean either and I don't even need translation because when I hear the sound and if it sounds good...i feel it. I know there are people out there that are turn off by just one thing: they don't speak your language. I KNOW that for a fact because I have been on the other side and hesitated and I have jumped over a long long time ago by listening to Spanish songs from Enrique Iglesia and even some Russian songs which sound amazing and it touches you even though I don't even understand the language.
These are what I called "close minded" people. Your sister is an example of that. An open minded people, they don't judge others as much but watch without critique too much. When you judge and compare, you lose a sense of what reality is because you're creating your own reality. So if someone's reality doesn't meet yours, you reject it. It can even go over the line. So when she said I feel like they're using plastic surgery. That can be a bit insulting because she's creating this reality where oh they can't be looking like this, therefore it must be plastic surgery. Again, quickly judging others without investigating or bother finding out the truths. This is what close minded people normally do.

I have ignored BTS for a long time just because they are sooooo hyped n a phenomenon n i kinda did not want to get caught up. Not gonna lie, i had some stereotypical thoughts too from the glimpses i had...
Then one fine day i saw Boy with love video with Halsey n i was kinda intrigued n wanted to know who was whom because i could not tell them apart. So i watched another videos about the 7 members of the bangtan boys n they really snuck into my heart after that. N really really REALLY started to enjoy their music. If u jst get to know them a bit n pay a lil attention their music has such nuances... Nowadays i drown myself in the BTS ocean whenever i have the time. N 95% of the non-kpop reactors reacting to BTS for the 1st time give such positive reactions, they literally go from "umm ok lets see wat this is all abt" to " Omygaaaaadddddd this is crazy how did i not kno them they r life im an army".
PS- it took me 5 days to successfully tell them apart even if i was utterly in love from the 2nd day. Im jst bad with faces. 😅

I don't care what the lyrics are, I just enjoy the rythm, their dance, and obviously their looks. And really, ur sister and my character resembles a lot, or maybe yours too. Earlier, I also used to hate kpops, when the first time my bestie introduced me to BTS, I tbh used slangs on them and made the comment "They are all looking alike, and even they're looking like girls" and threw hatred on them, and then I saw my bestie that she could differentiate among them fluently, I thought that as a pretty rare talent as she's Indian and BTS boy's names are really hard to pronounce for Indians, at that time I didn't liked BTS but just wanted to get compliments by showing off my talent by differentiating between them, so after coming home I just wanted to know their names and faces and that's how I got tricked, I fell in love with bts and became an army, and co-incidentally the MV which made me a BTS fan was DNA Nd then fake love and fire.
And Lita, u r too lucky that they visited your country three times, and we are the unluckiest ones cuz we live in India and probably they ain't gonna ever come to India, still there's (J)-Hope always. I heard something that RM got to know about their Indian fans(I don't know if this is a rumour) and they're planning a tour for Indians. So, keeping my fingers crossed. Bye! Good day! I needed to comment simply because this sister has some preconceived ideas that are totally screwed... makeup is not new to American entertainers....not all Korean entertainers get plastic surgery...and so on. My curiosity led me to learn what BTS is all about so like a sponge I absorbed all that info which started my love affair with them...they are gorgeous, their message is inspirational, they are great storytellers, they are individually talented and together they are magic 💥💥 so far I turned my sister on to them and she is now a dedicated army as well as myself. Now to get my kids (they are in their 30’s and 40’s) turned on . And yes I am 75 and of sound mind, there is no age limit to appreciating good music, choreography, and talent. ❌⭕️❌⭕️ 💜💜💜💜

Just to clear it up a little, as wonderful as J-Hope's dancing is, he didn't learn the entire choreography in ten minutes. It was the end part with the fancy footwork that he learned so quickly. The rest of the members struggled with it.
EKS511 Hey! I watched an interview of Jimin and Hobi in Japan. Jimin said in Japanese that Jhope watched the entire choreo once and he learned it right away... but that it took them 4 hours to do it... either way... JHope is super talented!
Lita Romero That's strange because I watched an interview in Korean where they singled out the last part and talked about how the last section was so difficult to learn. They worked on it a long time while Jhope was elsewhere. Then he came in and learned it in 10 minutes. One of the interviews must have been mistranslated.

They are talking about the DNA choreo from 5:30 on. The Japanese interviewer asked how fast does JHope learn the group's choreos and Jimin answers that he learn DNA in 10 min and JH says "in 30 min". Well, that's what I understood. They could have been talking about just that part in the end, or the whole dance... I don't know! Either way, as I already said, he is awesome!

I'm late to the party. New viewer here ✋🏿 hello everyone! I understand your sister's reaction completely. My friends currently don't like Kpop and do not want to watch any. But they like Kdrama. They never used to like Kdrama years ago when I was watching it. They found me weird because I'm from East Africa. So how is that possible?🙆🏿. Anyway fast forward to today they like Kdrama. Im shocked myself but like you said it takes time for some people. It has to grow on them. For some it takes less time. What I did do is introduce a beat or style that is almost similar to what they like. If one of my friends likes hip pop/rap I'd put them onto Mic Drop as an introduction. Then let them breeze slowly into the softer type and viice versa. Something that will capture their attention on the spot. Sometimes I'm lucky to have people who just genuinely are open minded to anything even if it's completely different from what they like e. g my sister. Cheers!
