The cars are great, but the times we had in those cars is unforgettable. The music on those radios went right along with the times, sorry if anyone missed it, don't believe we will ever see them again. It was about class, and we aint got no class any more. It's all about money, back then we didn't need much money, we had each other. Dang I sure miss it.
The 'California Special' was a one-year-only model available in 1968 to west coast Mustang buyers. Ford made 4,118 of them, all of which were produced in San Jose. While most of the 4,118 were California Specials, a number of them were shipped to Colorado and labeled as 'High Country Specials.' Make no mistake, while this car collectible and worth slightly more than a standard-issue Mustang coupe, it is not a Shelby.
a few 428s ?
so right. lol
Way to drop knowledge on the "High County Specials" not many people know about those you rarely see them maybe from being in Colorado winters for 50 yrs. (dry winters but cold as hell)
I had the opportunity to buy one GT/CS 1 owner who ordered it with the “Thunderbird Special” engine and a 4 Spd (390 w/dealer installed 6-pack) unreal car. He wanted 2000 for it and I thought nah too much lol....if I only knew
I like the California Special, there's at least one here in Maryland.
OMG!!!!! I was bored surfing youtube and happen to find this video. Just started watching it and in the first minute I was "Why does this place look familiar???" And then it dawned on me. My Father and I back in 87 bought a 73 351 Boss Mustang from here. Three years of restoring it and it became my first car in High School. And in 98 I went back to this same Salvage yard and bought a 70 Chevelle Malibu With a factory 396 big block, Cloth top and the Round gauge cluster dash with bench seats and factory manual 4 speed. I rebuilt the 396 Kinda made the car a little presentable from how it looked when I bought it. I was only going to use this car for weekend drags at Woodburn. But me being stupid I didn't nothing to the diff and I tore it up on the second day of just driving it on the streets. I went to just buy a whole another axle for the car and I just started tearing the whole car down again and basiclly a restro mod to the car. I got rid of the cloth top and went hard top with her and my dad bought a crate 502 for a wheat truck that summer and by winter when the engine arrived he decided to scrap the truck and he told me to shove that engine in my car. So that's what I did. Sorry for the ramblings. But man what memories from this old salvage yard.
+Paul Hunter Thanks for sharing. wow a 70 with a 396 what a car!
+Paul Hunter Ramblings? It's always cool to hear stories like yours. I would give anything to have my 1970 340 4speed Duster back that I sold to "Mopar Connection" in Portland, Or. in 1986.
+KFLY67 A 454 ls6 would be better.
how are the prices for the cars there?
qdgyg
What an amazing place! Most of everything looks to be in reasonable condition for restoration.
Hate to rain on the parade, @2:38 someone sawed the top off that 4dr Malibu, look close at the top of the A -pillar.No convertible.
+Chev502 Far as I know there never was a four door Malibu convertible.
Nothing a power hacksaw can''t produce
Not a shelby man, that is a 68 California Special.
one of THe most beautiful places I've ever seen.👍
That was awesome. Thanks.
He got some treasures there. That Red Chevelle will go for big $$$$
these looks like heaven
omg that yellow stingray looked amazing... for what little I could see of it.
Salem and Silverton Oregon have them too. I'll put it to you this way. Their as common as Honda Civic's.
Gotta love the El Camino with the snorkel hood scoop. Its says 1970s all over it. Good times....
I got a kick out of that 4 door Chevelle "roadster",lol!
64 impala...yellow vette....red 66 chevelle....those are some nice rides
5:49 The Mustang isn't a Shelby. It's a Mustang GT/CS. CS is for California Special, not for Carol Shelby.
I take a chevelle Camaro mustang and also one of those c10,s lol awesome stuff man
So sad to see the classics in disrepair. But what a great find.
600 cars...on THAT LOT!? That is a Chevy guy's dream right there. Love those four door Chevelles, especially the '66 to '72 models, wish I had the money to buy one and restore it.
Too bad I live in Europe just for that. Old american cars looks great, we don't have any here.
If you see one here, it is like if it was a lamborghini or ferrari.
It's saddening me to see all of those cars just sitting outside, abandonned and rusty.
Great video, love to see good old cars ;)
Davy Camb There are lots of old American cars in England,Germany and Sweden.
+Davy Camb You can pay for them and we can ship them over. Australian buyers do that with large trucks all of the time.
+Davy Camb I was in Munich recently and the most exotic car I saw was a '68 Mustang. Needless to say it was in excellent condition.
+8digitPDX Australian here, this kind of stuff is holy grail for me! i recently got married, and the wife and i plan on road tripping the states for a month or 2. problem is i fear ill be dragging her to all the "attractions" such as this! There is nothing like this in Australia, we have our "aussie" muscle cars, Holden Torana's and our aussie built ford GT's. They start from 18k USD for cars in the conditions shown in this video. And they are all tucked away with owners who dont want to sell, as there is few and far between left. No such thing as a wrecker here selling old metal. I have a 77 datsun 260z, in the states they can be had for 3k, i paid 10k for the equivalent one here. bloke i bought it off had 30, took out his retirement fund early when he was 30 years old, bought them up at 500 bucks a pop 15 years ago, now selling between 10 and 25k each! I know you guys ship them here, its i think 3k to ship, problem is then parts, I bought a new dome light for my datsun from america, $40 part and $45 to ship! shipping on parts kills us. If our dollar was on par with yours like it was 3 years ago, id love to import a 71 duster, pay 12k for a decent running one with tags and plates, when im there, road trip it across the US then bring it back to aus. That would be the dream!
Dolfiusss I know a guy who exports freightliner trucks, goes through a lot of hassle to take them apart and put them in containers with a bunch of the components to switch them over to right hand controls. I can piggyback extra parts in those shipments at minimal cost and they already have trucks going all over Australia once they arrive. We are having massive auctions here in Portland now for trucks and heavy equipment and since there is no sales tax here, there is no special broker's license needed to buy the stuff. It makes Portland the world's largest duty free shop.
I used to see one of these driving up and down I-95 from Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale when I work down there for years it was a little rough but it was all there
Coolest video I've seen so far what man cave.
the EDSEL front end on a Ranchero was a popular thing back in the 1960's Some of the Edsel guys even changed to the Edsel Dash and used the Arrow shaped tail lights from a Edsel wagon! they called them the Edcharo!
@Elmer Fox
i wish things/people were still this way sir.. well said!
wait , 0:29 ... is that a grand caravan..whoah. great find :p
I've driven by here a million times, and never knew what was inside
+2stroketurbo where is this place
I wish I could save classic cars now, but I'm just a kid...by the time i grow up al old classic cars that hasn't been saved will have probably just rusted away or gotten crushed. I wish I was born earlier..
very cool thank you kindly
I want that white 2dr Chevy Impala omg
this video made me so emotional....
that's the place for me I would be happy
there oh boy
Ahhh the old looking for emblems while you rob anything not nailed down trick..
Gotcha !!
good yank yard :)
Re: the 69 chevelle 4-door convertible. In the mid 70's when I was in High School auto shop we would cut the tops off donated cars for the local homecoming parade & many of them were 4-door cars. They were used as convertibles for the queens & also under some of the floats.
That '66 Chevelle with the 4-on-the-floor got me a small chub.
That 1969 Chevelle at 12:00 would be really desirable to someone with its sunroof and 350 engine badge.
That's a 68 Camaro! Side marker lights and no vent windows! You're welcome. 😏
Those el Camino are in really good shape the one on the right is a 69 or later and the left is a 72 or newer
badass green caravan
I need to visit, see if they got any chevelle buckets for my 70
The 1968 California Special is a one off car it is not a Shelby it came with a 302 it was mostly a cosmetic body kit, they are now rare and hard to find. I would like to know more of this yard in Portland, I do live in Oregon.
Ah Key Motors best place on earth. Weird to see that California special is off the shelf.
How do those cars stay up there on the wooden shelving ??? Wow !
isnt that camaro convert a 68? it has no vent windows in the front doors
Whoa Whoa Whoa.....you didn't see that Dodge Stratus or what???
+Josh River I saw it, you're a funny guy!
saw a sick ass green grand caravan!!!
California special GT were only order for California dealerships only which was special ordered from the top of ford Gm. This car is super rare and to buy it for 3500 dollars is a steal they didn't make a lot of these and the for speed is the rarest. And these cars came like this from the dealer with with the Shelby lights and scoops on the quarters and the GT wheels wish make it a California special
My science teacher has the same spec California Special GT/CS color and all.
where is the yard you walked in? when you were heading for the chevelle area you filmed a 4 door green maverick and i am looking for that as well as a 1978 ford
That is a 1968 Camaro at 48 seconds into this video. 67s didn't have the side marker lights and they did have the side vent windows.
Whats the location on those el caminos
I almost bought a 1969 charger from this yard back in the mid 90's for $500. but changed my mind at last minute

W.O.W.
they come up to the water ?
That white 68 Impala you walked past how can I get in touch with these people you did say everything was for sale right ?
Is the California special still there?
Interesting. Really though 9 tenths of it was rusted junk that should have been crushed and recycled years ago. Also, what was referred to as 'wing windows' are actually called no-draft windows. They were actually a good feature to have but no doubt expensive to manufacture.
No offense to your opinion or anything but some of that, "rusted junk" could be restored or used as scrap metal. Yes, the restoration would cost a fortune but it's worth the cash to bring the rusted junk back.
Matt VanDyke Its true, Beauty in the eye of the beholder. There is a few good companies now making affordable Reproduction body sheet metal parts for replacement.
where is this at in oregon like I really wanna make a road trip up there !!!!!
is the gt/cs still there?
where is this in portland, I live here i might need some parts
when was this recorded ?
believe it or not but there was more ss chevelles made in 1970 than the wagons so it in itself is epic find
nice video,place still there?
do you have a number the cars look nice i would like to get one whats the price on the the orange
66 chevy SS
where is this??? I wanna go here so bad
the california specials are not shelby cars although they did have the cougar tail lamps and also no shelby mustang ever came in coupe form they were all fast backs except a few experimental cars so no the stang in the vid has no shelby heritage but a very cool and rare car
Thunderbird Taillights. The '67 Cougar taillights were used in 1967 Shelby Mustang's. The 1968 Thunderbird taillights were also used in Ford Mustang High Country Special and the Shelby Mustang of the same production year.
Where is this located in Oregon?!
What year is the Chevy c 10 I'm 14 and my dad bought me a 1972 Chevy c 10 short bed
where is this all located
where was this in oregon?
where is this at in Oregon
مشالله المكان روعه احب السيارات القديمه
Did he walk by a deuce and a quarter?
Where is this place in Oregon?
$12k for a mint condition '67 Camaro convertible? That's a fuckin' steal! Even if you don't like Camaro's (and you'd be insane not to like '67-'69 Camaros) you could double your money by flipping that car!
Can I buy one from here still? I'm curious I'm in California but a trip up back there is no problem
He said everything's for sale
The GT/CS is not a Shelby. It was a California special option on the GT
What's the name of the junk yard?
Do ya know if there is any 69 Camaros and if so what price ?
omg where it I mean I love old cars and I'd love to go to that place because its car heven
They didn't make a 4 door convertible Chevelle, some body cut the roof off if it.
Does he still have any of these cars?
The Chevelle wagon is my dream car does anybody know what this place is called where it is
the chevelle at 2:36 isn't a convertible or an SS.they didn't make a chevelle 4d convertible.someone chopped the top off.look by the front windshield
I have a question about barn finds. what happens to cars that are found on property without an owner? do they get auctioned off at a local auction block?
Hello, no the new property owner may file a form at dmv to obtain ownership.
+KFLY67 oh cool. thanks for the reply
where is this junkyard located I saw vehicles I am interested in how may I get a hold of them
Key Motors 29649 s. hwy 213 Molalla Oregon (503) 829 3800
where is this at
6:38 Very rare 1960 Edsel, only a few thousand made.
+MrBreeze Wow.. its too bad I didn't film the car long enough in the video to see what shape it was in.
+MrBreeze a few thousand is not very rare...very rare is hundreds
+The Bacon Tree but there are probably only hundreds left today so it makes it rare
+The Bacon Tree some cars get only 1000 made, and other cars they make 1000 a day, so comparatively, they can be very rare
Um, that's a 68 camaro convertible. 67's had round front marker lights and wing windows
600 cars....WOW
you are like the grim reaper of american muscle lol
someone still mows the lawn, aint THAT abandoned
yeah the kids that work there do.
I think I saw a 64 or 65 chevelle during your walkabout... any idea what the owner might want for that vehicle?
len myette All cars are forsale. you could make an offer.
KFLY67 first, I need to know whether the car I saw still is available and whether or not it is a 64 or a 65 (looking for a 64). Also will need to know if an ownership exists. Can you help or should there be someone else I should be reaching out to? I can be reached at lenmyette@gmail.com. phone number is +1 905-579-6554 (land) or 905-924-1953 (cell). prefer land line
