He’s an amazing drummer . When Styx was in Youngstown on 7/29/21…. My 7 yr old got to experience this tour as his first concert . He still talks about” Tommy Shaw and Todd The drummer” . I absolutely love the live show. Thank you for my 7yr olds first concert seeing the BEST! We love Styx but you have marked a lil boys life forever . As a dad I’m forever grateful. Now you guys will probably never see this. But don’t care. Maybe someday when your bored you will read this and that’s ok 👍 and realize what a HUGE impact you’ve had a young kid … as a dad THANK YOU 🙏👍
I noticed all the fills and incredible frills along your adventure through this song. Todd, that's what makes you a Drummer like no other. Love ya Brother. Keep up the keeping up.
@@John-zt6yw Imagine being proud of looking so stupid that you've never heard one man call another man brother. Been happening for at least 1000 years, but you have never heard it. And you are so proud of that, that you posted about it on the Internet for all time. Strong work brother.
Wonderfully played, it is pleasure for another / all drummers to be able to see one of rock n rolls greats from a birds eye view. Thank you for the show.
Saw Styx at Jiffy Lube Live, Bistow, Virginia on August 12th! My 16 year old son and I had a blast! He is a huge fan! Bigger now! It was so well done! Styx was rocking that place like it was 1996! Thank you for a great concert and flawless performance! Tommy Shaw and Todd just brought it!
THANK YOU SIR ( RUclips and Drumeo too) for giving me my PASSION FOR DRUMS BACK(High school)! 🥁 ✌️❤️🔥🎶4ever! I'll be 60 next week and have been listening to your music for YEARS! 😎Just CANT get the dang rudiments down! 🤦♀️ I WONT STOP THO!😁
Man, I wish I could spend the day with this gentleman! He's not only one of da best drummers out there, but he's just a great guy, and seems that he would be a great friend to hang with! Also, Styx was one of my all time favorite bands growing up in the 70s.
He makes it look so effortless. 🥁 I don’t have a musical or rhythmic bone in my body. I couldn’t even play the first 10 seconds as well as he did. I would have fallen off the stool. 🤪🤣
You are a Pro and you Look Like you’re Enjoying the Song as Much as the rest of us. We Don’t get to see you Perform while we’re in the Audience. Thanks Todd. 👍
I finally stumbled upont this.. wow .. as a wanna be drummer . This just so amazing to see you play . I have heard the albums for years but to see the master level timing and fills is unreal.. u made seruously considering buying a kit this year. Just to someday tey this after 8 yrs of tough learning. 😅
Todd, dude..... you are absolutely my favorite drummer right now. I love the old "used" Sabians rather than some brand new shiny cymbals!!! Keep rockin!!!
A true master of his profession. Been hearing this song on the radio since I was a kid and now being in my 30s, it's awesome to know I'm subscribed to his channel and can relive some great times and see how this awesome sound is made. Love it! More please
When you MASTER your rudiments and have creativity given from God you get this masterful drumming. Very inspirational!!! Everyone in the band is better off having you there!! True professional keep it up.
I may be musically arrogant, BUT, I must say, I have always loved Styx! Jazz/Fusion is my music of taste, but I still enjoy kicking back to some Styx and having a great time!! Todd is excellent and has been with Styx since the untimely death of John Panozzo in 1996, and to this day has been one fantastic drummer for a great band! Great video!
not only is he an awesome drummer...but a really nice guy....got to meet and talk to TS in Austin Texas a few years ago before a Big Country show.....I mean how lucky was I chilling out with boys from Big Country AND Todd Sucherman....very cool
Todd, I never get tired of watching you play this song. When I was in junior high, I never imagined that this song could be ear candy for drummers. I really like what you did during the first synthesizer solo, pretty damn creative.
It makes you wonder how far John Panozzo would have developed these songs if he were still in that chair. The original recorded versions of most songs in the world are very sterile, so I would say that by comparison, and not to fault Panozzo - because he drumming was phenomenal, Sucherman the Sugarman has definitely "sweetened" things up (pun intended) to perfection. Panozzo would have too I imagine, just in a different way.
I have three favorite drummers, Steve gadd, Neil Peart and this guy. I've come to believe that these three drummers have five brains. One of in each foot, one in each hand and the Central master brain in their head. I could listen to the isolated drum track of his work and probably know the melody of the song without being polluted with a bunch of unnecessary "look at me" fills and frills. And being a retired FOH engineer I also love the mix.
Todd, The seaming effortless "power precision" is a standard in its own category. The seamless transitions are in that top % that only a very few drummers ever have or will attain. Epic display in this performance. Beyond inspiring.
Always terrific. Todd makes drums look easy, but as many years as he’s been doing it, a master at work! And none the less enjoyment either. Super excited to see Styx in concert again in July! Got to see them for the first time last September and absolutely loved the show!
Wow! All the little nuances are so much fun to watch. My wife always says "Hi Todd" when we watch one of your videos. It's fun to watch you interact with the other members of the band with just a simple raised eyebrow. Thanks for posting these videos. We really enjoy watching them.
I love Todd's drumming. Everytime I see him playing I want to play my drums.i love styx and hopefully will be able to see them at some point. But will be watching Todd.
I always enjoy Todd's new posts. He's the quintessential busy drummer. I really liked what he was doing on the cymbols and the splashes in the beginning. And I really like the way he has his kid tuned up. And hats off to the traditional grip! Bravo Todd! 🥁😎☮️🥁
There are just too many phenomenal drummers. They keep getting better and better. Drumming is just one of the funnest things to do. Its ancient, its modern, its hypnotic, its transcend, its athletic, its thoughtful, its religious its everything rolled into one. Long live the drummer.
5 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I missed the show here in town the other night but Damn... You killed it brother!! And yes, I'm one of the old guys that got to see Tommy playing here at the bowling alley before Styx stole him. lol!
Thanks for these as always Todd. Much enjoyed and appreciated. You inspire a population of smaller-market pros to continually improve and express their own (and best) rhythmical voice. I like to imagine the band had no idea the solid fortune they’d encountered when you first joined. Please keep ‘em coming.
I love hearing the monitor mix. This is how we drummers really hear it all. Just enough of the other stuff to know where you are and lock up with everyone. And a LOT of drums with some nice reverb.
I was going to leave a nice comment about Todd's playing but..... I was having to much fun watching and listening to him jam out in perfection!!!!! Thanks Todd!! 😁
Was my 36th STYX show and I loved watching you switch a few things up last night! Always a good time and I always learn something new from watching you!

Keep posting Todd. Every time I watch you perform I have to be careful not to trip as I run to my kit. I marvel at your dynamics and precision. You make me want to be a better drummer.
