when l worked retail in the late 70s to early 90s we used sell japanese models that are better than the 5 grand custom shop crap coming out now. Id hate to be someone as talented as this dude and have to hock this junk to the public. Fender custom shop is a marketing scam to get another 2 grand out of suckers IMHO.
@@michaelsteven1090 I've tried 2 masterbuilds. One Chris Fleming Strat with Brazilian fretboard that sounded nice but ultimately just didn't do it for me. It certainly didn't give me any reason to think Brazilian Rosewood fretboards are anything particularly special. The other was a Dale Wilson tele that I really liked. I play custom shop guitars but I thought I'd take this MasterBuild Tele to some VERY good guitarists to check I'm not looking through rose tinted glasses and they too thought it played and sounded something special, best I've played comments etc... So I kept it. I still think a good guitar is a good guitar and a bad guitar is bad guitar regardless of price, whether it's $$ or $$$$. But whether a good guitar is great to the person holding it is a matter of preference. Are these expensive guitars worth the money?... Everything an individual spends disposable income on, hobbies etc is just all about preference and what makes one person happy. What's crazy silly to one makes someone else ecstatic :-) The fewer the number of people working on an expensive guitar I think it is reasonable to expect that it's more true with less imperfections than regular production lines, but there's no guarantee of perfection. If you try a few you'll know if you find one that stands out to you. Just be sure you’re comfortable with the concept of spending so much, before you go down the rabbit hole or you'll be talking about one expensive guitar that got away ;-) Then of course there’s the argument that if you’re a really good guitarist, all you need is an inexpensive rig so long as the gear is technically good to go. Check this out from the UK. Dave Simpson is getting a lot more attention after being invited to an interview on Andertons TV. In this video he plays a £200 rig straight from a box… Enjoy :-) ruclips.net/video/rOz33tDJetU/видео.html
mwyatt222 Have you ever seen the SQ series Squiers that were made in 83-84? They’re the exact same specs as a 70’s Strat. I got one a while back and the only difference between it and the guitar he is holding there is that is says Squier by Fender on the headstock, and about $2500. And before anyone tries to grill me, look them up.
@@BlackLabelMark great honky heavy-ish guitars as l remember. They were japanese made back then and l think we sold them for 249. The problem was the paint. Most were black. They didnt have non painted model with clear and the woods were worthy. Their mistake. We had trouble getting them as l remember, they sold in low numbers. Typically good japenese gtrs tho lMHO.

Jason Smith is in my top 3 of Masterbuilt builders....amazing guitars. Thanks for another great demo Greg.
a savage green beast of fury
I love the color of this guitar. I think it's more of a stagnant pond green, hence perfect for bayou music!
Stealthily slips in some Sultanic riffage on posish 2.
The economy isn’t too bad with all these insanely expensive guitars flying off the shelves!
yeah man, never a bad time to be rich.
I just show up to listen to Greg play.

I gotta believe theres some truth to it..These Fenders are nice quality guitars but the whole "Masterbuilt" aura is a bit of a stretch..
Michael Steven I kinda like knowing the name of the builder, not that I could afford one anyway
