      Big disappointment!!
Well, not you Nick, see my points.
I'm waiting for my a-class for sometime now. It will arrive in 2 weeks. I've consumed all your Mercedes videos. So, seeing you, at this point, "rejecting" the a-class is kind of a let down. But understandable.
Due to budget reasons I'm going with the "SPORT" instead of the "AMG". And it seems that the seats on the Sport version are way more comfortable than the AMG one. Not as cool certainly, but softer. I never see you mention the "SPORT" options/differences.
The "next track" button... I was hoping that the other video you have on this subject would solve the issue. But if you're still not happy... then I'm worried. It is something I use constantly. I don't play background music. It means a lot what I'm listening to. Not having that is a big issue (for some at least 😊).
I'll be honest: beautiful car, but the price is over the top. I would not pick it if it was not a good deal (company car basically). Mine is the a250e... It is very very expensive for such a small car.

@edgarsousa6630 ooo very nice! What colour did you go for? And thanks for watching the videos!
Oh I’m not “rejecting” my A-Class (I know that you mean with the word), it’s just that as I review other brands I can highlight what I like and what I dislike. To clarify my car’s not going anywhere, I might even keep it! But there are a few niggles like folding down the seats which are first world problems I know…and I’d appreciate just a little more space. But the price point makes it tricky to go for something new and larger with the tax brackets.
The seats may be firm as I said in the video but I just did another 3+ hours driving again today and because my seat is perfectly right, I love it.
So I might just keep it at the end of the agreement, we’ll see 👀

Hi Nick, if I'm being brutally honest, I have loved watching all your Mercedes videos. I'd stick with them, and keep doing what you do as the brand evolves and brings out new models and facelifts etc. You're a bit of a guru with Merc too, which to me and I'm sure many others, is a go to when you want to know stuff. I get where you're coming from with expanding possibly, but it hasn't worked for a few other RUclipsrs and their content is crap now compared to their earlier stuff. I'd love to meet up with you seeing as you're so near to me and have a chat over a coffee. As I mentioned in one of my previous comments, I recently bought an A250e premium plus saloon based on your reviews and advice etc. It hasn't done me wrong at all, and I'm loving it. Keep up the great work fella.

Awh thanks @paulypoos1! Love comments like this! 🤓
It’s a tricky one, I love making videos on Mercedes I bought one because I enjoy the brand. But as the cost of things go up I might not be able to afford one next.
And I know for a fact there are people who had a Mercedes and have moved to a different car for various reasons whether that be price, wanting to go electric, availability etc.
I’ve been pondering for a long time as to what to do.
As long as Mercedes still allow me to film their cars like at my local dealer etc the videos will keep coming!
      I’ll have a think some more 🤓
      Appreciate the comment!

@@npolearythanks for the reply, I'll email you later.
I get what you're saying about the rising costs, but believe me, I looked at loads of manufacturers before buying the Merc. Hyundai's new Kona, the Cupra Formentor, BMW, even a Citroen, and nothing came close to the drive, the build quality, the ease of use of the gadgets and toys, and the general sense of feeling great when driving the Mercedes. I know it's not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Another thing that shouts peace of mind is the fact Mercedes are more than willing to let you do all the videos of their cars. And I can't think of many makes that have their own world in Weybridge, lol.

@npoleary I was exactly same as you had 2 A classes first A200 and then followed by A250e premium plus, which I loved. Went to get another and price had gone up so much and then the issue with tax like you said. I looked round and am now 2 weeks into owning a Renault Megane E-Tech and loving it so far!! Went for the iconic spec and really impressed. So yes I think you should review other cars and maybe consider Renault 🤷‍♀️.

I agree with a lot of the comments in here. You are the go-to channel for MB in depth content. Personally, I just purchased an EQE and coming from a Tesla, it is a really complex car with the in-car profiles, mercedes me app, mercedes me charge and so on. Your video's helped me a lot figuring out the mbux system, how to update my navigation maps etc. There are already a lot of channels for "reviews" of all kind of brands. Also; i'm a bit surprised that you wouldn't get a Mercedes for personal use with a bug reduction or even fully sponsored considering your number of subscribers and viewers.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Месяц назад

      Awh thank you! 🙏
      Glad you enjoy the videos!
Well I mean I wouldn’t say no 😅 it would certainly make the videos easier if I had a car with all the gadgets on the drive 😅
I’d be out every day filming stuff! 😂
But on the flip side, I’m blessed that I can do this full time so I have you guys to thank! Plus without being sponsored or anything, there’s no bias towards videos then, I can highlight good and bad on each review in a dedicated pros and cons section which I’ve started to introduce to reviews.
That will allow people to genuinely see if the car I’m checking out is the right one for them 🤓
But…Mercedes do make some pretty awesome cars 👌🏼

My wife is a huge Mercedes fan and refuses to get anything else. I like them too but your videos are always my go to for any questions about her car and I've learned so much from them. I would definitely keep with MB. No harm in doing other cars too but Mercedes as main cars. I have a BMW 330e which is a plug in hybrid and will NEVER go back to normal ice car again. Wife's car is a Mercedes 300e plug in aswell and she'll never go back either. So if it was between ice, plug in or full electric then I would personally go plug in. Love going for a sporty drive on the weekends and then silent electric to work every morning at 6am. Personal preference of course.

    Hi Nick
Really enjoyed the honest video about your own car.
As others say I have found your advice to be most helpful so keep doing that.
However doing a comparison with other models of a similar size is really useful too.
I have had my EQA for around 18 months and I am really glad I had the pre-facelift model, mainly for just the reasons you pointed out. My steering wheel which may look less modern is much better to use as it has physical buttons. I have the driver assistance pack so it really nice to double click up the cruise control button with no need to look at the dashboard following which the car increases to the speed limit. Similarly one click down takes it into recoup mode with virtually one pedal driving.
I also agree that having the pad in the centre means you can click forward or back with ease. I had an A class as a service loan car & found touch buttons a pain.
I also agree with your comments regard the £40k. At present I don't pay RFL on an EV but will from April. I have no issue with paying the basic charge but I understand from DVLA website that new electric vehicles from 2025 costing more then 40k will be subject to the premium RFL. Like you my car is on finance and when it comes to an end despite liking much about the car I do not think I would buy another.
    Matt

@@npoleary Nick - I think I’m right in saying that the £40K car price threshold for additional RFL charge includes the car price VAT amount, so is a tax on a tax. The £40K value should be the pre-VAT value, don’t you think? If not then if VAT % were to rise then the govt. would bring even more cars into the additional RFL band, let alone those that also become liable due to usual inflation based price rises

Love my 2019 A180 D AMG premium saloon. Coming up to 12 months ownership. Service due soon at 28k. Had only one problem, but Mercedes sorted it under warranty. I always look forward to my next drive and such a special cabin to be in with excellent digital display and ambient lighting. The safety is also excellent and consequently keeps the insurance realistic (when your a certain age) Yes, It has a french engine with added Mercedes technology and to me I have no complaints. The car is very nippy, quiet, economical and I’m getting average 58mpg to date. Would I change car next year …. Probably, but not in a hurry 🙂 Keep the great reviews coming Nick 👍

I find the seats in the A-class really comfortable very contouring for my back. I agree with the others, Mercedes is a total different experience unlike any other car I’ve had. I have the A200 and it’s very nippy around the town and super comfy on the motorway, it’s a solid car. I bought mine for £32,200 executive AMG line and now it’s £32,500 in 6 months the price has increased. I’d like if you could review Audi A3 it’s a lovely looking car. Great though provoking video Nick. I'm currently on my 3rd Mercedes. I started with a 2014 CLA 220d then a 2018 C Class Coupe 250d and have recently bought another 5 month old CLA 220d with only 2K miles and £10K off the retail price. (From Mercedes) I completely agree with your comment about going through the 40K retail price and almost didnt buy my last car. That said like with everything in life we make allowances for the things we want and so far i'm glad I did. Given that you work in the trade Im sure you could pick up something almost new with a great saving. I paid significantly less for my recent CLA than you did for your new A Class. The salesman offered me a new CLA 180 for the same price but is was a no brainer for me as i know the 220 engine and gear box well. Loads of power and incredible efficiency if you motorway drive. I actually dont watch your reviews of electric cars but it doesnt put me off your channell at all. Review whatever you like Nick your viewing figures will guide you. Thanks for all the great videos.

    Hi Nick,
I found you channel a month ago after purchasing a 2017 eclass and find it great. It is informative and your presentation style is excellent. The attraction for me was your Mercedes features, however I would enjoy reviews of cars in the same league - not so much the less premium cars - I think premium cars are your sweet spot. I would also suggest you look at older cars as there is a huge secondhand market and people like me crave info on our models - for example I don't have Carplay and am about to look to an aftermarket box that will bring carplay to my existing screen and controls and a feature on this and others such as updating maps on an older Merc would be welcome. I was quoted €600 for an updated SD card from a dealer but purchased one for €50. Keep up the good work - but don't stray too far from your niche!

Thank you! Exactly why I wanted to ask. I know my channel has been primarily Mercedes content but there are some reasons why I chose to diversify. I think I’ll make a video and explain.

Hi Nick, like you I purchased my A Class exactly a year ago. Trading in my old A class. I was not happy with my old pre face lift one for a number of reasons especially the stop/start which was useless and the battery went flat if it sat in your garage for a couple of days. So when Mercedes contacted me a year before my contract was up and offered me the new face lift model I jumped at it. My old one was the plus but did not have the HUD or the 360 cameras or the 19 inch multi spoke wheels which my new one came with. Plus no alternator just a generator, stop/start is great now.
I’m glad I went for a plus as I paid £2000 more for my model. It started at £42000 but Mercedes UK were doing a contribution as was the garage plus’s a big discount. Ended up at £37000. And that’s a lot of extras for the difference. The only thing I miss is the pad on the central tunnel. Much better than reaching across to the screen. And there is no noise now from the direction indicators. On the next car like you would probably go electric. I am luckily enough to have solar panels, so charging should be less expensive. Great video,

If your new A class is a 2023 facelift version have you suffered from the noisy and constant camera opening and closing at slow speeds for calibration purposes that mine and many others do?

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Месяц назад

No mine does not do this although I have read a few comments online of people asking about this.
I noticed a few times on a car sometime ago and I asked Mercedes and this is what they said.
Reversing cameras used to be just mounted on the exterior exposed to the light conditions which made it show the image instantly. Because they were on the outside they got dirty very quickly. However newer styled cameras now have a retractable housing which is good for keeping it clean but the camera when it pops out has to expose for the light (daytime / nighttime / low light etc) and it can take seconds before it actually shows you an image.
To combat this Mercedes will have the camera “pre-pop out” as you slow down so when you do select reverse, the image is shown instantly.

I’m an A200 driver and am now in the market for a change.
The German brands that you currently cover capture most of what I’ve looked at.

Hi Nick, I hope you’re well. I’ve learnt a lot from your videos on the A180. Thank you! I’ve had my a180 for 4 years and love it. Like you I have a dog who sits on the back seat belted in. But on the odd occasion if the car is full is there a way to put her on the passenger seat? I just cannot find out how to turn off the passenger airbag as seems automatic. I’ve looked everywhere for a switch and in the menu. Thanks so much!

Sadly no, the passenger airbag can be disabled but only when a Mercedes child seat is fitted to the front.
I think Mercedes have done this to encourage people not to fit child seats or place items in the front in case of a collision.

Fell in love with the a class back in 2014, way before i offically had one and only just passed my test. My 1st car, a secondhand 8 yesr old smart car. I loved it so cute. So nippy. Hubby took to loval MB dealer for a service and got a courtesy car for 24 hours. He arrived home in a BEAUTIFUL black a class. Love at first sight. I didn't get to drive it but knew one day !! Roll forward to 2020 and hubby said it was time so we we went shopping. My 1st was purchased (Friday) and due to be collected tuesday (wedneaday latest). Monday the country is in lock down.
Anyway, ive upgraded twice since and ony 3rd. Each time with little increases in styling etc. But i love my a class and the hard seating, love it. I feel so safe and secure driving my car. Find a180 powerful enough so no need to upgrade to a200.
Keep dping MB. Its what you know. What you love. What we love but you have to do what you enjoy and if that is expanding put to other brands do it.
Finally, top tip on increasing heat in my heated seat 😊

    Hi Nick.
I really enjoyed this video, as I’ve owned my A200 for just over a year and I feel exactly the same as you except that my main complaint is the doors can’t handle the sound system.
I really like your videos. I’m interested in knowing what the opposition cars are like so I know what to go for next as the merc is just not quite good enough, but I’ll keep enjoying it until the time comes to change.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Месяц назад

Thank you! Glad you enjoy them!
Yes I do kind of agree, the sound system is very good but for the true audiophiles out there, if you push this sound system quite loud, you will hear the door vibrate. I will say though that it would be certain songs and/or certain volumes that this can happen so not all audio clips. I know it’s limits on certain songs so keep it below so it doesn’t offer an unwanted vibrations.
If you however you went for a premium “branded” sound system (in Mercedes on selected models they have Burmester), this I believe adds dampening to the doors along with higher quality cones and a dedicated amp so that the sound only comes out through the speaker grille and won’t travel through the door.
Years ago I had modified my sound system on my first two cars and if the dampening isn’t added, when pushed you will experience unwanted vibrations. But again the average person won’t notice, just for the people who love a good sound system and would pay extra for one.
I believe that Burmester is actually tuned per model by Burmester themselves so they have a bespoke audio set up per model. Shame it’s not available on every model in the UK though, I would have picked it if it was! 😅
Thanks for your feedback! I’ll give it some thought! 💭

Really enjoyed watching your review Nick and reading other comments. Its fascinating to hear other peoples views. I had a 2020 Mercedes A250e AMG premium line saloon until about a month ago. It was possibly the worst car I've ever owned! A clattering rattly unrefined thing to drive with lots of poor fitting creaky trim and multiple electrical issues. I hated the hybrid drive train that dithered its gearchanges and was very unrefined. It was my first Mercedes and I've run away back to Volvo whose quality in my opinion is leagues ahead. Looking at everyones comments i must have had a bad one, but its honestly put me off for life! To be fair the tech was good, but it was so let down by its build quality. So interesting to hear your views and the views of your audience.... maybe one day i'll pluck up the courage to re-appraise!

Well it can happen with cars even today regardless of the car brand. It is very rare though to find a car with issues.
I shared with someone else the other day, I had to reject a car once as I spent more time in a loan car than the car I’d actually bought. Had to draw the line and say I didn’t want it anymore. But bought another and it was one of the most reliable cars I’ve ever had (both were Vauxhall, my previous car)
But yes a year in, thought I’d touch base with everyone and keep everyone in the loop 🤓
Which Volvo did you go for? (If you don’t mind sharing)

Great review as usual Nick and I like the updated format. I bought an A180 AMG Line Executive in 2023 for £34,600 and it is now worth about £22,000 after 18 months or a depreciation of £12,600 - 36% which is quite a drop. I bought a C class convertible in 2021 for a heavily discounted price of £35,000 and it is coincidently also worth about £22,000 now after 3 1/2 years. I really like my A class as it looks great inside and out, is pretty comfortable and smooth (but not as comfortable and smooth as my C class), quite economical at 51mpg on average although I have seen up to 70mpg on a long motorway run. I had a minor problem with faulty wipers and horn but they were easily and quickly sorted. There is one thing that still really annoys me about this car and I don’t know why you haven’t mentioned it as it is a very well documented problem and would stop me buying any Mercedes that I found had the same issue and there are quite a few models now with this issue. The issue is the rear view camera constantly opening and closing at low speed as it tries to complete a calibration sequence. This operation is noisy and really annoying and it does it every single time I start the car about four or five times but does it constantly when it is dark or low light such as in winter. It is so bad that I would like to get rid of the car If I could but I can’t justify buying a new car and suffering more depreciation. Mercedes are just not interested in doing anything about this and say it is not a fault but a characteristic of the car - not good! Keep up the good work.

I've just bought a GLA200 and absolutely agree about the camera. It makes no sense! Does it happen on all the Mercedes models? As you say Mercedes don't seem interested in the issue. It is all over the Mercedes forums and I don't know either whether it happens in Nicks A class, strange he never mentioned it as I have had a conversation about it with him. Thing is they are not going to recall all these cars to fix it, although I would have thought a software fix was possible! Can't see the camera lasting long with all the times it opens and closes!

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Месяц назад +1

Thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos!
So I asked Mercedes this years ago (to clarify this doesn’t happen on my car). I’m not sure what models it happens on but I think (from reading comments) it’s on cars with the 360° camera but if yours is executive, then not sure on that one. This doesn’t happen on mine so that’s why I didn’t mention it.
I also haven’t mentioned it because I personally am not 100% sure on the exact models it does it on.
      I don’t believe it’s a calibration thing.
      Mercedes said this years ago:
“Reversing cameras used to be just mounted on the exterior exposed to the light conditions which made it show the image instantly. Because they were on the outside they got dirty very quickly. However newer styled cameras now have a retractable housing which is good for keeping it clean but the camera when it pops out has to expose for the light (daytime / nighttime / low light etc) and it can take seconds before it actually shows you an image.
To combat this Mercedes will have the camera “pre-pop out” as you slow down so when you do select reverse, the image is shown instantly.”
However I believe it pops out when you dip below a certain speed. I don’t think it’s 19mph, I think it’s a little bit under that.
I reckon it’s something to do with the close range braking or safety systems for monitoring the back of the car or park assist scanning spaces.
Next time I have a new one, I’ll pay close attention to it and see if I notice a pattern.

@@npolearyIt’s definitely a calibration thing as I have that in writing from Mercedes but it’s not clear why the camera has been programmed to do this when the previous version with the same camera didn’t do it. I think it may be down to some new legislation or as a result of legal claims for camera failures. I don’t think it has anything to do with any of the safety systems on the car or the park assist, it’s just a camera calibration sequence on every start up. Some people have had Mercedes put additional sound insulation in the tailgate but this apparently only slightly masks the noise. I’m amazed that Mercedes can’t see how much of a problem this is and are just ignoring customers concerns.

Hi, Nick - great video as always. Not really surprised that you are not in love with the A class. I drive a C class and it is plenty small enough 😂 (I am 6ft 4). I flatly refused a CLA loaner the other day cose I couldn't get in it! There is no doubt Mercedes' interiors are tough to beat at the price point and I like the ride compared to other similar brands but the A class is way to "compact" for me. Would prefer that you stick to Mercedes reviews as you might get spread to thin if you start venturing into other brands. Carwow, Autogefühl and others already cover all the brands and frankly it gets a bit hectic trying to follow them all. Perhaps deeper dives into the whole Mercedes branding and product would be nice. I'm afraid the £40,000 upper limit is going to catch us all in a year or two no matter what you buy - unless they revise it upwards which I doubt 🙄Cheers for all your efforts - great following you.

Nick I drive an A class A200 Executive & I agree with you about many things you have pointed out here & my next car will be something else. Most likely a late used EV or hybrid car with more space in the back for passengers & boot area. I also find it harder to get out because it is lower to the ground than the older Mercedes GLA I owned 2 cars ago.

Yes sometimes! I might use them if I want to take control of the gears for example when I know I’m going to drive in a sportier way, I can have the car’s revs higher ready for when I do.
Or if you go down a steep hill, you can keep into a lower gear so you don’t wear your brakes out 🤓

Hi Nick. I’m on my second a class, a200 premium. I did consider moving away this year when I got the second one and looked at the usual suspects (worth noting that for similar packages , MB is actually pretty competitive) . But yeah i think you should try and reach as broader appeal as possible . Dont restrict yourself to certain brands.

I know the feeling, Nick! Once you get bitten by the Mercedes bug, it's hard to let go, lol.
I had a C63S that recently went out of warranty, so I sold it. I checked out other brands, but nothing really satisfied me. Even though I live in the USA, I am not into american cars. Cadillacs and Teslas are fine, GM and Ford are ok too but mainly for trucks and I don't need a truck :). I ended up going back to the MB dealer and got a great deal on a new C300. It's an impressive car, loaded with tech (can be used as a floating office) and the ride is very smooth. It really feels like a high-end luxury car at a reasonable price, the mild hybrid feature gives me about 36 MPG on the highway! So far I am very satisfied with it.

@@npolearyIn the future, I might consider getting another AMG, let's see. I love the power and sound, but I honestly think that these types of cars are better suited for the European market, with highways like the Autobahn or Italy's Autostrada del Sole where you can drive fast and truly enjoy all that power. Here in Texas, it’s tough; I was getting too many speeding tickets, and using it just for racetrack days feels like a waste. :)))

Hi Nick, I started watching your videos when I bought my first Mercedes in March 2019 and it was you that gave me the handover of that and my subsequent Mercedes. Since then I wanted to move over to an EV . Unfortunately Mercedes didn't make an EV in my price point. I then went to a Volvo EX30 of which I'm delighted. Two things that I think are better on the Volvo, A) The paintwork is much better, I only had to pass a roadside bush and I'd be using my body repair App on my phone. I thought the paint on a Mercedes very thin for a premium car. B) The bodywork on a Volvo feels stronger. and when you consider the Volvo EX30 is made in China ,it makes you wonder. On saying that I am typing this on my Apple Imac and in my pocket is an iPhone both of which are made in China. As far as future reviews , if I were you I would stick to premium brands. You may sound a bit critical when reviewing a Vauxhall Astra. There is nothing wrong with the Astra and I had two of them when I was transporting children around in the dim distant past, but I was under no illusion about the build quality or various lack of driving aids. They are an A to B car and let's leave it there.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Месяц назад

      Awh awesome thank you! 🙏
Yes I completely get that and it’s a careful balancing act of looking at a cars price vs what you get and managing expectations from there. I’ve had a Vauxhall Astra before it was my previous car and it was a solid car! Very much enjoyed it! For the money it was a bargain! I paid £210 deposit and £210 per month for 4 years. Back then that was a very good deal for a brand new car and as you said a car to get you from A to B. Yes it didn’t have the gadgets but it was a brilliant all rounder.
Of course Mercedes and Volvo have a fair few gadgets when compared.

Had a C class Hybrid for a year and due to an offer i could not refuse purchased a barely new A class 250 E AMG, the first thing that irritates are.. No driver/passenger rear or front hand rails, so difficult to exit the car, as a result no area to hang your coats. No way of opening the boot from the interior unless the car is turned off. the indicator stalk when used often causes the windscreen wipers to turn on. These maybe small points, but i will change to a CLA or go back to C class

    If i'd be you:
    For TY:
I'd stick with Mercedes as main content (cuz you really are a guru in this brand), and also cover any other competitive brands that are popular, to get reference and more videos as well as more perspective for differences in the market, just as you said.
    For your next car:
I'd definetly try to go for a good used Mercedes (as they are quite popular and good deals, even the EQ's in the second-hand market), or maybe upgrade for fe. a GLB for bigger space for your dog and needs, and with that maxing out that 40K barrier, but still keeping yourself under it.
If you know that you still love Mercedes, stick with it if you can, bc we love that youre actually an owner too, not "just" a reviewer. It might not be the best bang for the buck, i can completely understand that... Mercedes really should do you a nice deal with the amount of marketing value you provide to them on the online space...

The luxury car tax is based on the full list price new not the current second hand value so buying used is not necessarily going to save you on tax. A new GLB 200 Premium is around £44k or more depending on spec so a used one a couple of years old is still likely to have been over £40k new.

Interesting to see your thoughts, Nick. Much like you, I went from an Astra K to an A-class, namely a W177 A250 Prem Plus pre-facelift. I was looking at the Golf 8 and A3 8Y, and found the A-class to be much better value and a nicer package overall. It had its minor niggles, but the ownership experience was great. I never thought I'd become a Mercedes owner, but here we are 😂
Edit: To clarify, I did get a hefty discount at time of purchase. Nowadays, the closest version would be the A250e or A35 (same engine as the pre-facelift A250), but those are now north of 40 grand, and the current A200 is more than my A250 was before discount. With similar options, the A3 and 1 series are similarly-priced.

I believe many of your viewers, like me, watch you channel only for Mercedes because it is the best. I hope you don't dilute the channel with lots of other makes. Are you having problems with coming up with Mercedes content? You mentioned an extra 600 per year. That averages out to 50/month which is $65/month in US dollars. Looking at it on a monthly basis that isn't a lot. When I bought my Mercedes I never considered that a BMW or Audi was maybe $2K cheaper. I knew they all were expensive compared to the US branded cars I have been driving. In the end it is your channel and you know your audience better than anyone else.

Hi Nick, thrilled that you are still loving your GLA. I also bought a GLA35 about a month before you got yours and like you, I had some issues. The biggest being with the fuel injectors. At 9 months old, and brand spanking new, it developed a behavior that took my dealership SIX weeks to figure out. After weeks of working with MERC headquarters they said they had it figured it out. The company was awful; customer service none existent. The issue was fixed but at $60k it should not have happened and for 6 weeks I was in one loaner or the other. Long story short, I suspect I was sold a lemon and soon after that I got rid of the car. To answer the question, would I buy another GLA? I will never buy a Mercedes again, ever. From when my issues started it was the worst. Best decision I made was to dump it like a hot rock. Mercedes, the worst experience ever.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Месяц назад +1

Ah no sadly not a GLA, it’s an A-Class. Although wouldn’t say no to a GLA, extra space is always good!
That’s a shame you had a bad experience, I’ve had to reject a car once from another manufacturer. That one car of course doesn’t represent every single car they ever make, for some reason it was just that car. They genuinely had it longer in their workshop longer than I had it. So I have it back to them.
These things are extremely rare these days but the probability is not zero percent. So it just depends how you’re looked after. I would say if the same issue has occurred more than once on specifically the same problem, probably change.
Hopefully you’ve got something sorted now 🤓

Yes more cars. It’s very simple, you must evolve, go forward, constant development of your channel is a must, otherwise you restrict the versatility of your output. With a few manufactures you will constantly just waiting on the next model coming out. The word is Expand.

I'm a250 plugin hybrid owner for around 2 years before facelift which means I have touchpad on the middle field and that's great, you can control everything and feel the haptic touch. It's my first Mercedes btw, anyway I wanted the mention about the brakes man. Ohh man they are extremely hard, we stop like I hit the car to tree at every traffic light. Don't you ever experience this?

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Месяц назад +1

      Ah very nice!
No I haven’t noticed that on my car however I know that plug-in hybrids can be a little different.
They of course use brake recuperation, but they also have normal brakes. When operating the brake pedal, they use brake recuperation first and then fade in the actual brakes if you either brake harder or as you slow down below I think it’s around 15mph or 10mph.
They can though as I mentioned feel a little different and in some scenarios a little sensitive. For brakes though I’d personally rather them be that way round. It’s scary if you go to the brake pedal and not much happens 😂

Hi Nick. Yes, totally agree with you about the pricing structure not only of MB but other brands too which cost over £40k new. The road tax is ridiculous. Is this one reason why MB sales are suffering perhaps? Please do cover other brands. The fastest growing brand or at least one of the manufacturers is MG.
The new ZS Hybrid only has 2 models but start at just over 21k to approximately 24k .Max.. That appears to be a lot of car for the money... As mentioned previously Nick I bought my MB a year old.. I'd love to upgrade to a newer MB but with such tempting offers from other brands I'm not so sure.!
    Cheers Nick

Another great video. I am weird. I don't drive much. Both of my Mercedes don't have 500 miles on them. And we are looking at another car to keep the miles off the S580 which is now at 2k. Both of mine are Diamond White, which they don't make anymore. I think its Moonlight White, or Polar White. The car we are now looking at to add is the 25 Chevrolet Blazer RS. Its really nice, and loaded. We also looked at a Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy, but its very large. We would do another Mercedes, but leaving it outside is the idea.

Not sure on availability in other countries you’ll have to ask Mercedes 🤓 or check out their website etc
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen an A-Class Saloon while on holiday though, but not the hatchback.
For the GLC, they’re the same model so the shape won’t change. The only difference is that one is a plug-in hybrid. I reviewed one recently. The boot is slightly less (no underfloor storage) due to the battery underneath but it offers some serious range for a plug-in hybrid!

Another great video, and yes, you should show comparisons. I came to Mercedes from Kia, I had a 1.6 petrol Sportage.
Would like to've known what your averaging MPG wise as that kind of info after 10K is relevant to anyone buying one I would have thought. But yes, great video.
I acquired my '22 plate 220D CLA in February and I just love it. Looked at the 1.3.engines but couldn't understand why anyone would buy a premium German marque with a French engine? And basically, a Clio one at that!!😀 I'm a snob I know!! so I wanted a complete German car (albeit made in Hungary!! ) so I scoured the online dealer market and found mine. A 2 litre diesel, I'm averaging 61MPG on a mixed drive with a slight motorway bias. If I do purely town stuff it's about 47MPG.
    Would I have another?
    In a heartbeat YES!!

So there’s this rumour that goes round saying that the engine is directly copied from Renault which is false.
The entry level engines in their compact car range are not just "Renault engines", Mercedes and Renault have combined their efforts together to produce a very highly economical, low emission and powerful engine.
It’s common for some manufacturers to share designs with each other. Others include Mini Peugeot sharing their engines, Volvo and Noble, Mercedes S-Class & Pagani Zonda and many others too.
For the engine you’re talking about, Mercedes also put their own tech and spin into it and designed Formula One technology such as Nanoslide and even cylinder shut-off called CAMTRONIC allowing the cylinders to go down to 2! None of this is found in the Renault’s engines so no, they are definitely not the same at all. Even the new variants feature mild hybrid technology which also is not found on Renault models.
So they both teamed up together but the engines are not the same. If you were to go down that road and be picky, you could say that the Renault has a Mercedes engine 😅
They just share the same blueprint but aren’t 100% the same. And you’d never know.
The performance from that engine, the MPG you get is incredible for a petrol. I did my own test at varying speeds here: ruclips.net/video/OAYWKrKu7kI/видео.htmlsi=DN8LwCmmUiD9tt4M

I have had an A200 premium plus limited for 30 months. Great car. I love your Merc reviews. I agree though at the price point in the UK to progress up the ladder and we’re are thinking of a GLC it’s ridiculous that we have to pay £600 a year road fund licence. It makes you think that these Chinese cars that are coming over are going to really impact on these premium brands.

I asked Mercedes this years ago and this is what they said.

Prices do go down as the models mature but you might get things optioned out of the cheapest models to reduce starting price, but maybe sales are waning enough for them to reduce.
I own w205 c class Amg line from new and it’s been a great car to live with everyday. So comfortable and easy to live with definitely would consider getting another one as my next model. I did look at a45 and a35 but wanted something bigger. Great brand of car
