@@LissyRedgown I mean software upgrades have little to do with longevity of the device. The bigger factors are hardware and how its used. It wouldnt hurt getting more software support but it shouldnt be a deal breaker imo.
@@LissyRedgownthat's for sure what it is they know most people get a new phone every few years the hardware is good in the phone but most want the newest things. So by not updating the os many will buy another
I was really hoping for a detailed feature by feature comparison honestly. I really like having the expandable memory and 3.5 jack and was hoping to find out if there are other things I might be missing with one or both (like does the moto really not have gps?) and in real world active usage how much difference there is with speed. I'm tired of just hearing a phone is upgraded and better only to find it can't do the basics I've become accustomed to enjoying. I'm using a note9 now that is starting to become problematic but there are features I don't want to give up (like iris scanner). I still really miss being able to use my phone as a remote from my previous one.
The moto had been a great phone so far. I didn't know all the bells and whistles the Samsung does but moto does alot right. It's speedy, the camera is great, it has gestures you can set up which are nice. Tap the back of the phone twice to open the camera or whatever app you choose. Move the phone twice to open the flashlight etc. for the price I don't see any downsides
Honestly, as a student and work part time, i just get the S22 Ultra for cheap, have the same features including Ai in the 6.1 one ui update, using it to take notes and do work on the go. works great. Got mine 512 gb for around 400$. Looks brand new so scratches and problems.
I went from a galaxy fold , a phone that cost me $1600 to this phone under $400 because I didn't use the special features that my fold had , and always felt like i paid too much for what i was using it for. I like my moto stylus better.
The nice thing about being in the Samsung eco system for me has to be the trade in credit Samsung gives. I had my S22 Ultra and traded my phone in for the S23 Ulta and just paid $375. Then I did the same with the S23 Ultra for the S24 Ultra and only paid $395. I don't know if it's just me but how can I pass out on the great trade in credits. I don't see the point for me down grading to a mid grade phone and pay the same amount of cash. Again this is my situation and for most people that are on Samsungs premium phones. I do see the Moto 5g 2024 making sense to a new buyer that may just use the basics. You definitely save if you have no trade in. Definitely liked your video.
i was curious as to what the difference is between the two stylus' and found out the g-stylus doesnt have the pressure level count of the s-pen as the s-pen uses acom tech. also the s-pen has Bluetooth.
Ok, good point on pricing and missing features like head phone jack, but what about Samsung's fantastic trade-in service, several years warranty, notifications from my other Samsung devices such as my tablet, and so on.
Great practical and helpful review. Busted my old phone recently and ain't got time or energy to be piecing together meticulous comparisons. Went to the carrier store and the sales dude turned his nose up at the motorola series so bad, and peddled the Samsung so hard, but it seems like his only focus was to be mainstream and popular. My feature concerms were sd card and stylus with remote. But then, I also take a lot of photos for recreation as well as work. So still on the fence. How do the camera features compare?
I have the moto and the s24 base. The Moto has a better display, and when watching youtube, doing social media and the 99% of things people normally do...its just as fast loading and watching. 99% of what a phone is capable of...99% of people dont use.
I bought my moto g stylus 5g 2024 for $250 and thats including the phone case and screen protector. I am truly blown away as to how great this phone feels. Makes me feel like an ass for buying a iphone 13 pro max back in the day. Oh and I do use it for hardcore gaming. This phone holds up with the best 💯 LITERALLY can't go wrong for the price. 7/10 imo
This comparison video really highlights how much upper budget to lower midrange phones have improved. And really, you gotta ask yourself, how much phone is enough for you to do everything? I’m hoping Motorola will increase the support on this device or at least will increase it next year. They’ve made a bunch of huge improvements from last year and while 3 years total isn’t a deal breaker, it’s largely disappointing compared to Samsung & Google. Maybe Motorola’s plan is to improve their phones first and then increase support. Whatever the case may be, they gotta make sure to up the support because next year a Stylus phone at $400 with only 1 OS and 3 years of security updates would be unacceptable. It’s bordering on that this year but with the upgrades I can forgive them a little.
I've always thought that and is why I buy older flagships. I really like the direction Motorola is going in. I LOVE the option of a headphone jack....I still used wired headphones, I like them better There's is literally nothing an older phone can't do from a newer one except having certain spec differences. In all honesty, most people use maybe 30 percent of its capabilities anyways. I knew an old guy that had a s23 ultra and barely knew how to use it. All he did was watch YT on it, he literally didn't use it for anything else. spent $1200 on it. No way would I hand over 1300 bucks for a smartphone . Why!? There's a TON of choices from older flagships to these great mid rangers for $400 or less....
I paid 129 for the 5g stylus. Can't beat that I used to buy the note phones back when you could get them for 200 with a contact. Can't justify 1300 for a phone
@@Jim26D I just picked up an S10 5G which is basically the Ultra version. 6.7 inch super amoled screen, headphone jack, 2k resolution, 6 camera setup, just a BEAST for $100. Originally it was $1200 dollars.....What a deal, AND it's unlocked!! Works like a charm.
I've been using Motorola phones for over 5 years, now, and for the money there is NOTHING comparable in tye Damsung line; not even CLOSE. This reviewer is correct: Motorola puts their money into the important stuff. You dont need constant Android updates...all they add is BLOATWARE. If security is that important to you, add the Malwarebyte app. Samsungs are great phones, but do i really need a Rolex? Nope.
Are you saying a cell phone can be fully secure with just malware software apps? If so, have you tried this after security updates have expired on your phone?
I got my G from Spectrum for $235 and will be here this week. I have not used any new features on phones for over 5 years and the headphone and SD card slot was something more I cared about vs features I will never use. Great honest review about what people actually need. We need more reviews aimed at that.
Honestly, if I want a smartphone with a stylus, instead of this Motorola, I'll take a refurbished or 2nd hand S21 Ultra or S22 Ultra for the same price even less 🤷🏽♂️ Ps: in the watch market, and unlike smartphones, the older a watch is, the more valuable it gets. 🙏🏽
Yes, it does! Called Ready For (Smart Connect), and it works quite well. Allows you to connect to a PC or external display to do some pretty interesting tricks like mirroring the phone display, creating a new instance of your phone on a second display, moving files between devices, and even sharing peripherals like a mouse and keyboard between your PC, tablet, and phone.
One thing the drives me nuts about Motorola is the software. My mom had one and the software made us go crazy I gave her my old a53 and she says it's the best she's ever had. I have the s23 ultra and had the s10 plus from 2019 and the software is no comparison in my opinion
I think for me the biggest thing is longevity. 7 years of major updates over 1 major update with 3 years of security. Besides that the moto is a solid phone, ended up picking it up because it was on sale and I love the brown color
I have an s10+ but want to upgrade to a better camera because I travel a lot and take lots of nature and outdoors photos/videos. Is the moto G better? I hate that no phones have SD slot which Is a necessity for me.
@JhonDot-fm1ms I don't believe so.. my phone wors perfectly fine and the camera Is darn good. But I've seen the quality of the newer cameras and they're better. Everything else works exalty as the new phones
No your phones camera is light years better than most phones today. Don't change to anything other than s series if u like that camera. No one does it like Samsung cameras
I tend to pick up a new Moto phone every 15 months or so. Just picked this phone up for $99 from my provider with the expectation that I continue service for 4 months. I've had service with this company for the past 10 years. Owning a Motorola is like having a nice phone that you are not afraid of breaking in day to day life.
I just got this phone for $250 from Best Buy unlocked. The biggest thing for me is the difference in cameras. I like the vegan leather back. The red color looks really nice and I agree about the pen suite. It's a pretty cool phone. I've had Notes and Ultras but I appreciate using and looking at a different UI. This phone has really made me look at expensive phones completely different. The only other phone I'm considering right now is One Plus. I am tired of the brand, carrier bloatware and the same ole UI. With that said the Moto preloaded stuff is pretty useful. But whenever I get another phone with a better camera I am definitely keeping this one.
Great video down to Earth video. It's all about what most people really use their phones for versus what they think people will think by seeing a certain phone in one's hand. I don't need a stylus, I still have 10 fingers. I'm currently on a Samsung S20FE from 4 years ago. It's still going strong, and I have it stripped to the essentials that I use. My phone got stolen and I immediately upgraded to the Samsung s23fe.. it was so bloated and daunting the amount of work I would have to do to strip it down to the essentials that I'm use to using or need. Fortunately, my phone was returned to me, and I immediately returned the new phone. Been looking into the Samsungs A series phones or Motorolas for future potential phone options. Budget bargin phone with a good camera and good UI are all I need.
I'm going for the Moto G Stylus. All i do is I watch youtube, light gaming like fallout shelter, or those sega throwback games like sonic or altered beast, and that's it. Plus, it has a headphone jack, and i primarily use wired earbuds (I.E.Ms, to be specific). Plus, 256gbs + 2tb with expandable memory is an automatic win for me. It may not have a powerhouse chipset or the best camera, but the stylus takes good enough photos, and the Snapdragon 6 gen 1 gets the job done. Plus, the build quality is far more superior and durable. Glass doesn't equal premium.
Good vid. Moto needs to be mentioned more. I'll probably grab an S24U on Black Friday but for now I'm happily watching this on my Moto Edge+ 2023. I want to have both. Haha.
I got the Moto G Stylus at Walmart for $199 on StraightTalk. If you use it for one month or three it can be unlocked to any carrier. But yeah I'm be real I love this phone. I have an iPhone 11 I was using previously and I kinda don't wanna switch back now just due to how bomb this phone is. Defiantly feels premium to me other than weight. Also I played CODM and DBDM both on the highest setting and it absolutely was beast for me for those wondering about gaming. Camera is god as well but not the best. Its still a great buy though. Gonna be making a few RUclips videos on it even here soon.
I have the Moto g Stylus 2021. Will upgrade to the 2024 soon. After years with Samsung I switched to Motorola and so glad I did. Really was missing the phone jack and SD chip slot. 😊

solid review, didnt get the moto stylus cause i don't need the pen. went with the moto g 5g, my needs were music while i work, anime and manga, camera is is not the best but solid. i stoped listening to the big tech reviews and started listening to my own needs
Enjoying my Moto, first one and quite pleased. Will not buy a Sammy or a IFruit for the very reasons mentioned by many, if not all, of your respondents: microSD, headphone jack, variable refresh rate, great "unknown" pOLED screen, 256gb internal memory, it reminds me of my old Xiaomi Redmi Pro 9 GT. I don't currently use the stylus, but I probably will in the future. besides the microSD, the cost was wonderful! For my 2cents, the Moto is a "flagship". If I "have" to replace it in 2yrs, I can live with that, especially at these prices. I attempt to dissuade others from spending $$$$ for electronic devices and some appreciate that and others join the lemmings. 😀
I have a 22 stylus and the entire frame is bent and the screen only cracked because of a single rock on a tile floor, whatever glass they use it really can withstand a tougher routine than ive seen with lg or Alcatel, even my friends with the newer samsung a series phones crack them more often then ive seen these phones broke ive only seen mine be broken, i have a 21 as well and i love them both scratch resistance could be better imo but really for something to have service, watch videos, scroll socials its a really good device
The Moto g stylus is what most people actually use and need on their phones. The Samsung Ultra is for the relatively small group of people who typically use it for creating content or playing graphically intensive games. There's a reason why Samsung budget phones are best sellers, unlike their flagship counterparts. The A14, A15, have sold significantly more units globally than the flagship devices.
Watching on my S20 FE😂😂😂 expandable memory is a must for me. If ever I upgrade, I'd probably get either this or Nothing Phone 2a Plus. But I just love how ergonomic S20 FE is. I can't let it go of it yet
Love your coming out with video after video trying to teach people "your preference is YOUR preference." There's lots else I could say, but that seems to be the beautiful core of your channel. Also appreciate you highlighting some of the benefits of Motorola's displays. According to Android Central's Nicholas Sutrich, their pOLED often dims in a more comfortable way to most people. Just like the S24's newest Gorilla Glass reducing glare helps others. It's all about our different needs, wants, priorities, and our choices in balancing those. Shame that there's not customization like with mechanical keyboards. Would love to be able to select what display technology with what glass and so on for the ultimate experience.
I'm watching this on the Moto G stylus 5g 2024, I've had the note also. I'm fine with the Moto, my usage on both was the same. Occasional use of the pen, I just like having it. I'm very content with the Moto, but if I had the bread to waste, I'd get the note

At that point you might as well chip out the money for a flagship that'll give you 5-7 years of possible longevity depending on how you use it. I've heard of people getting awhile out of these mid rangers but I don't know. Just an observation of mine, I guess.
@@LissyRedgown
I mean software upgrades have little to do with longevity of the device. The bigger factors are hardware and how its used. It wouldnt hurt getting more software support but it shouldnt be a deal breaker imo.
Not having consistent updates can leave your phone vulnerable though. @@Matcc
Excellent illustration Delicious Steve! You've about convinced me!
Thanks!
Honestly, as a student and work part time, i just get the S22 Ultra for cheap, have the same features including Ai in the 6.1 one ui update, using it to take notes and do work on the go. works great. Got mine 512 gb for around 400$. Looks brand new so scratches and problems.
I think they made some smart choices about the software they did include for example Walmart.
Hi Stevealiciuos you recomend the stylus 2024 over the samsung a35 can live whit out software updated on moto
Yes
I hope you got it on sale
Can report for the $250 its on sale for right now it’s a great phone
It's someone else's opinion, it's your money, buy whatever you like and don't get butthurt.
💯 agree!
How's the os updates?
@@JhonDot-fm1ms only 1 os update is promised.

I LOVE the option of a headphone jack....I still used wired headphones, I like them better
There's is literally nothing an older phone can't do from a newer one except having certain spec differences.
@@Thedesertguy75 I had the original S10 but dropped it recently. It was a good phone
I think the speakers is just fine on Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 since it also Dolby Atmos as well.
Which colour is this s24 ultra
I got my G from Spectrum for $235 and will be here this week. I have not used any new features on phones for over 5 years and the headphone and SD card slot was something more I cared about vs features I will never use. Great honest review about what people actually need. We need more reviews aimed at that.
The 1st minute and im already not liking it.
So basically a A15 is the same as a S24+ 🤔
Umm...no? Watching more than the first minute usually helps.
@@StevealiciousTech
You could have used the car analogy.
I do get your point though.
No updates with Moto. I'd never use banking apps for example with a device that doesn't get the latest security updates.
I read the you get at least 3 security updates
3 years of security updates and one os update.
Honestly, if I want a smartphone with a stylus, instead of this Motorola, I'll take a refurbished or 2nd hand S21 Ultra or S22 Ultra for the same price even less 🤷🏽♂️
Ps: in the watch market, and unlike smartphones, the older a watch is, the more valuable it gets.

Does the motorola have a desktop mode
Another great vid, Steve. don't have either of these phones but like your content
Not via USB. Only wireless.
@@bricequirl the Moto g stylus only have the wireless option for Ready for
@@Cubano2031 Yep, the USB 2.0 port makes wired Ready For impossible on the Moto G Stylus 2024.

i need phone with ir blaster

I had that on my note 2 in 2012. That was the last phone I saw with one. I loved it. going to a bar and changing the channels was fun
Well do you think android updates are necessary or no?
@JhonDot-fm1ms I don't believe so.. my phone wors perfectly fine and the camera Is darn good. But I've seen the quality of the newer cameras and they're better. Everything else works exalty as the new phones
No your phones camera is light years better than most phones today. Don't change to anything other than s series if u like that camera. No one does it like Samsung cameras
@@dmo848 I'd like to upgrade only for the newer cameras but the new phones not having memory card slots it's a big no 🙅

Love how you explain things.. and love gsmarena too, keep it up😅
Great video down to Earth video.
250$ on amazon now
This is ideal for me, I don't use half of the stuff on the phone and play stuff like Candy Crush and other puzzlers so this is perfect
Haha.
Next time use the same wallpaper
Nice video keep up the good work

Which would you pick: S23 FE for $200, or Moto G Stylus 2024 for $0

I bought the S22 Ultra and it just stopped connecting to network; only 2 years old. Updated to latest OS amd bam! Broke. Only wifi works. 😢
I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS VIDEO AND I GOT SUBSCRIBED! :)
I like to have the premium experience and the s24 has 7 years of update
Watching on my S20 FE😂😂😂 expandable memory is a must for me. If ever I upgrade, I'd probably get either this or Nothing Phone 2a Plus. But I just love how ergonomic S20 FE is. I can't let it go of it yet

Nice phone for sure!
Same I'm in love with it for the price and if it can play PUBG on HDR extreme with no problems it's good enough for me!
For less than 1/4 the price, it's incredible.
