I have over a thousand hours playing Culdcept Revolt and still play it constantly. I wish they would do a new Switch entry or rerelease Revolt with upgraded graphics.
Been a fan since it was released on PS2. Everyone I played it with fell in love with it as well. Playing Revolt now, the limited edition is really cool.
I played the crap out of the Culdcept on Xbox 360. Liked it a lot but as I got further in the story bad rolls kept screwing me over. I could be ahead in the match for a good half hour only to get a bad rolls at the right time to lose the game. It happened a little bit too often.
Culdcept Revolt has you covered that way. Most matches take less than half the time of a Culdcept Saga match, so even if bad luck happens, you won't mind so much. Win or lose, you make progress at a much faster pace than any previous Culdcept game.
CuldceptCentral yes Revolt has streamlined a lot of the rules to make it easier for new players, I just wish I could find more people to play online! :P
panicman10 The online game lobby actually works quite well and has a "beginner" lobby that limits players from using cards from later in the game that may be overpowered, I've already played 9 online matches and each one was a great experience testing new decks and seeing what other players have made. I only wish i could find more people playing. And with a 30 round limit with a goal of 7000g the games really are quite fast, especially compared to the old games in the franchise
There's a song from this in smash ultimate. I nearly lost my shit seeing it, as I thought it was from re-volt, the rc car racer from n64. I thought that game was finally acknowledged as existing. I have NO idea what this game is.
Some points to add to this 6 year old review: 1. CPU/turn speed can be sped up significantly in the options menu. 2. The campaign is extremely worth any degree of grind. It's unreal how vast and interesting the story gets, as well as the various situations you'll find yourself in, one such thing being alliance matches where you fight alongside an ally. You will also unlock some crazy good maps 3. The game has what I believe to be the most unnoticed OST I've ever witnessed. It's insanely good
Nice review. As I have also never played a game from this series, would you recommend it to me if I'm only ever going to be playing by myself against the CPU? Thanks.
This is the best game ever made. Been a fan since the PS2. I’ve been trying to figure out how to get it on my vita or current gen console. I had no idea this version existed. I’m going to have to get it now
Can you SAVE anytime during a round? Is there DIFFICULTY SETTINGS? Can the GAMESPEED be changed? I heard it moves a bit slow, waiting for the AI... Does the game track ANY STATS (wins/losses, time played, % complete, etc, etc)? Is there any other way to play SOLO, outside of story mode?
OK there's a solo mode.. Cool. WHAT OTHER OPTIONS does this game have? Cripes SHOW the options screen, watching gameplay vids is boring and obviously doesn't show all other options, screens, etc.
You can save in the middle of a round. Gameplay speed can be changed. It tracks stats. Difficulty isn't a thing for campaign, but it might be for solo play. Haven't checked.

I can see this as a definite hidden gem. It's the first I've ever heard of the series.
it's old and can be played for free if you find a rom and run it through desmume

what's so special about this version?
If you're in Europe, this game is currently on sale for 3.99 on the 3DS eShop

That is the only thing I don't like about this game. One wrong step on a tile and you've pretty much lost the entire match.
Dragoon-BB scrolls are worthwhile now :D
I just found out this franchise existed and now I have to go pick this up. Great review!

Nice review, I should've picked this up when it released
It's on almost 90% sale rn on the PAL eshop
What's your friend code? Would be cool to play a match once I get my hands on the game.
This is my theme for my 3DS and I just searched it

Eshop shutting down less than 2 days, pick up the digital copy soon. Physical is rare now.

@@karamarakamarama I didnt. Adjust YOUR EYES.
@@supercommando440 yes you DID
Played it on sega saturn.
This game looks interesting. Tho I’m not sure if I’ll be able to really get into it. Is it difficult for newcomers to the series to the this game out?
i saw few ps2 version cards...
Can I buy this on the Nintendo online though the ds?
this is pretty similar to a minigame called sugoroku from Samurai Warriors 2
Does this game have local or hot seat multiplayer?
Aspirety local and online multiplayer no hot seat as far as I can tell
Played the PS1 import version & the 360 version which I enjoyed.
So its 100% oj?
A good comparison, it's just not as fast paced.
