Great video. I just read "Curing Affluenza" by Richard Denniss, in which he makes an interesting observation. He makes a distinction between consumerism and materialism. Materialism is the love of things, but it also implies the appreciation of finely crafted things and the desire to protect, preserve, repair and pass on those things. Consumerism on the other hand, is the need to constantly replace items just for the temporary thrill of getting them and to dispose of the old item even though it still works as well as it always did. It's the process of spending money you don't have, to buy things you don't need to impress people you don't know. He therefore posses the premise that we need more materialism in the world and less consumerism. I think that idea is perfectly expressed in the use of adapted vintage lenses on modern cameras. That was one reason why I bought a mirrorless camera over a DSLR, and am acquiring old glass for it. Just to hold and use these beautiful lenses is a joy, and it appeals to my sensibilities on so many levels. I believe that you Ken, are also a "materialist" in the good sense of the word, as I am. Thanks for continuing to praise the value of vintage lenses.

I'm really happy to see you mention the Voigtlander 50MM f/1.2 again. I can only assume now that you had to give in and keep the luscious, high quality, metal lens hood that you were thinking of returning. I don't have this gorgeous lens yet as it's on backorder, but the lens hood (LH-10) is on the way to me now. You most certainly saved the best for last!

Sold my sigma 18-35 1.8, sigma 50-150 2.8 and my Nikon 10.5mm fish eye. I didn’t know I could convert the fish eye to fit the Fuji camera. What adaptor did you use and does it work thesame on the Fuji?

Ken I just grabbed my GFX50r girlfriend, it’s on! Thank you so much for all of your help over the years, from Nikon to FujiFilm. After shooting medformat film for some time, I can’t wait to see what the GFX can do, your videos on adapted lenses (like all your vids) have been extremely helpful. While I plan on picking up some GF native glass, at first I’ll be using the GFX as something of a “digital film back” for these adapted lenses (M42, Nikon and Pentax 645). Thank you for being a genuine force on here and in our community I can’t thank you enough brotha.

@@kathodosdotcom thanks Ken! Will do!! Everything you've recommended from the D500 to the various lenses (15-30 Tammy and of course the 200-500 and all the Fuji offerings) have always been spot-on brother. Thank you for taking the time, and for doing it with such integrity -- you are a *real* asset to the photo/gear community. TTYS on the 'gram.

First of all thanks for your videos, the content really makes a sense.
What do you think about old USSR/Russian lenses which were inspired (or copied) from Germans? It's possible to get some of them really cheap for M42 mount. Particularly 58mm Helios 44M-6 and 135mm Jupiter 37A? I have the last one adapted to F-mount to play on D7200. I've heard that the Helios has a better micro-contrast. Photography is a time to time hobby for me, so sometimes I am not able to objectively evaluate results and lens features due to lack of experience. Are there any simple methods how to test the micro-contrast on several lenses and compare the results?

To all the Sony users out there:
The Nikon 28mm f/3.5 PC lens is a must buy. AUTOFOCUS works perfectly when it is shifed vertically (but not horizontally, I have discussed the problem in detail on DPR) with the Techart LM-EA7 adapter, and you get a magnification ratio boost. This is the perfect lens for making people look taller than they actually are without risking getting double chins!!!
