    Thank you, for all the saved tears I will no longer shed! That was the best "how to". I love this tent, but could not figure how to get it up myself (near 60 female), the directions say to raise and it is impossible to click at top. This is awesome, thanks again!

      I agree with you Ms. Duplessis. I am 12 years older. Lifting the legs to pop in place is an awesome weight-lifting feat that our fine Tent Guy host here does like a breeze. Maybe it loosens up over time. I needed to watch this at the point he does this to see him pulling down on the top while pushing/pulling up the leg. I don’t have that strength (I would guess it is 40 pounds lift). My trick was to put the lower bar over my shoulder and hold the top with both arms while pushing up with my body. It bruised my clavicle on the first one it is so hard but I padded myself for the others. It could definitely put a person’s back out. Having a second pair of hands will help, but not that much. I just hope it is easier due to being looser next time. But to underscore others’ gratitude, I would have been lost for a longer time without The Tent Guy and RUclips. The generosity (business aside) that he has to do this so nicely for us gets my handshake.

      We just did a 10x20 and my guys had a really hard time. The main problem with it is they didn’t have it spread out enough and getting it up was way too hard. Ok nice they got it spread out more it was way easier.

  • @michaelc6298

    I have a trick that works for me, I open it just a little like you then go into the center and push up on the center, opens like a breeze and takes seconds. The stake idea is smart never thought of that.

    Without stakes, first push up on center post, then lock one of the four legs that is closest to the locking hole. Keeping weight/hold on the braces as you move to the 1st corner before you get it locked helps. And super important: keep foot gently pressed on the lever (red lever in my case) as you lift to lock the 1st leg. Then lock the other 3. I added some silicone grease to the sliding areas although the grease get on your hands every time you set-up the canopy. Also, the top gets in the way of locking, so it may help to lift up the fabric at the outer corners slightly away from the frame before you try locking the first leg. Good luck and don't get blown away!

    • @mercylou
      @mercylou 2 года назад

      I seem to have a problem lifting the top portion first. It makes sense to me and I've tried it. The bottom legs come up immediately and lifting the top afterward is very difficult. I have shed some tears. I must be doing something wrong. Ugh.

    Do you typically check for utility lines? Or is it even necessary for a pop up? We don’t currently have tents but I’ve always been interested in having a few small pop ups.

    • @thetentguy
      @thetentguy  5 лет назад +2

      If you’re putting stakes out n the ground you should be aware of where lines are. Wether that’s finding out from the property owners or calling dig safe. We typically only call dig safe for commercial properties. Private residences, we have them spray paint it out.

Usually they have vinyl scraps that they can make into sandbags. That's were my work picks them up at. They sell the sandbags made for popups but they are overpriced for what they are, a bag of sand.... I have seen some companies in my area take a frame tent base plate welded to a steel plate and secure it to the pop-up.
