It's time to join SS Anne and watch one of the fandom myths about Pokémon Red! The end of Blue's Raticate in the Ship after the battle with Red.
I'm a gen 1/2 old gamer, so I came up with an idea of making the start of all of this franchise. It would take a lot of time and effort, but I'm Ok with the idea of trying to animate the whole game town by town. But I need to know if there's going to be audience. Because this time isn't some random animation, it will take A LOT of effort. So.. share!

You know the most tragic thing about this? The fact that Raticate are excellent swimmers. If he wasnt so badly injured, or poisoned, he couldve swam to shore and saved himself. R.i.p. Blue's Raticate. thus begins Blue's downspiral, where he forgets to love, care, and trust for his partners. 😔
Damn. Raticate died, Red becomes a recluse, and Blue becomes cold toward his pokemon - a triple tragedy.
but he was extremely injured and on top of that poisoned by Nidoking's attacks. Not to mention that Nidoking is a very brutal and violent Pokemon.

This is one of the most heartbreaking Pokémon videos I’ve ever seen. Not one line of Dialogue and I was crying. 2:55 This to me is the moment that the Red we met on Mt. Silver was born. He isolated himself and never speaks because of the guilt that will never leave him.

It's so emotional *because* there's no dialog. We're shown the story, not told. "Raticate died, and it was very emotional" isn't quite the same as seeing it all happen.

Good god Pedro, that was heartbreaking. And even though no dialouge is used, this carried so much story and emotion by just your animation.

I always thought Red was just traumatized from something that happened to him during his journey, I mean the Pokemon world isn’t exactly the nicest or even safest place to live in, in the anime and movies Ash has shown us multiple times that you can risk your life fighting mythical or legendary Pokemon, so I don’t doubt Red has seen a lot of shit during his journey which is why he isolated himself in Mount Silver. I’ve never bought the “Red’s a ghost” theory, that makes no sense, after he was defeated by Jimmy/Ethan/Gold he went back home, rested and then after a few years he went to Unova to compete in the World Tournament and then to Alola and who knows if he went to another region (my guess is that he did)

An accident that haunts his subconcious, making him the famous silent trainer we know, even when he became champion, and when he caught Mewtwo. In his silence, he did regret the moment, even if he doesn't know if Blue forgive him; he doesn't feel like he deserve forgiveness. In his silent subconcious self shame, he flew to Mount Silver, so he could never make the mistake again. That is until Ethan appeared, who'se determination and love for his Pokemon has reopened Red's eyes beyond his silent regret. In Red's defeat, he uses the escape rope, flew back to Kanto, to meet his mother, finally free from his silent regret, the regret he could have reached out to her or Oak for help, but couldn't, due to his shame. 20 years later, Sun and Moon, Red and Blue stand, side by side, to meet the champion of Alola.

I think it's incredible what you're able to do with your animations, to retell and recontextualize scenes from these older games. Your Pokemon Red series is already one of my favorite animation series and I can't wait to see even more.

Just noticed the way Blue flips his hair from side to side just like how his walk cycle is animated by flipping the sprite in the first gen games. Great attention to detail as always!!

It's hard for me to hold back my tears. You finally gave the fan theory a legitimacy. Only a trainer knows how it feels when his pokemon dies. Blue's crying in pain was such a tearjerker. I loved the way you showed the regret in Red's mind. I badly want to see how you develop the relation between these two rivals in the next chapters.

Regardless of the tragedy being an accident, it’s ultimately Red’s fault. He brought out Nidoking and sent Raticate into the stormy sea.

...wow...That is something I did not expect. I am normally one who says Blue put Raticate in the PC. But I really like what you did! You stayed consistent with Red's personality but had Blue's raticate die. And you can see Red feels horrible with it.
You brought up something no one had ever thought about. And that is pokemon battles can have potentially fatal accidents. WELL DONE!

Love this unique take. I always pictured in my head Raticate just getting destroyed by Charmeleon and Blue couldn't get to the Pokémon center in time. Red only finds out about the death at the Pokémon Tower (future episode?).
Red seeing Raticate die at his Pokémon hands and mourning the loss makes this much more heartfelt.

This reminds me of the doujin Festival of Champions which is insanely good, it did explained how Raticate went "missing" from Blue's Team.
Spoilers Below for the manga:
Raticate is known for it's Quick Attack in the manga. It's death led to Blue's Arcanine going over and beyond, eventually achieving Extremespeed.
festival of champions hadled raticate extremely well. raticate held sentimental value to not only green, but to red and blue as well. the impact greens raticate had on the entire group as a whole is written excellently, and seeing red and blue have a friendly hangout in memory of raticate is one of my favorite parts of that web series

I've been wondering how you would handle this scene, and you did not disappoint. It was SO good! Blue's scream was just heartbreaking, especially when there isn't any real dialogue. (Also, before that, Blue plugging in his CD player to blast his theme was perfect!)

Probably because Ash never dealt with the guilt of having accidentally killed someone’s Pokémon. Or the fact that none of his Pokémon were ever killed in battle.

I literally cried when I see nidoking vs raticate. Blue and red both were very Immortional that time also how raticate dies makes me more sad I am feeling sorry for blue whenever I faint his rattata/raticate.A 3 mins video was not just a video it was a feeling thanks pedro for an amazing video
Idea for an alternate ending: Raticate survives but is put into the PC after Blue starts to only care about using strong Pokemon over Pokemon he bonds with.
I would quit being a Pokémon trainer if this happen.

And just like that Blue cut all emotional connection with his pokemon, fearing another one would end up just like poor Raticate. And to make matters worse, just as he achieved the title of champion of the pokemon league in kanto, his rival, the one who killed his raticate and psychologically damaged him, ends his hour long reign, and his grandfather comes in telling him how disappointed he is that he lost so quickly (Oak originally leaving Pallet to come meet him and congradulate him) and that he lost because he showed no love or connection, which his rival severed, towards his pokemon. Talk about a kick in the balls. Blue is the victim here. XD

Nossa mano, como você consegue fazer isso? Eu sempre achei essa teoria bem besta, e óbvio que ela não é canon, mas você fez ela parecer bem mais legal e emocional, meus parabéns.
Eu achei que o Poliwrath iria ressuscitar o Raticate, pq tá ligado, jogo para as crianças, mas eu realmente gostei da sua decisão não canônica de matá-lo, demonstrando que abordagens maduras e sombrias podem trazer mais desenvolvimento para os personagens. Muito bom, Pedro. O tema morte no Pokémon me lembra muito os mangás

You'd think that if this happens occassionally that there would be regulations imposed upon Pokémon battling. It wouldn't be a problem if battles just end with fainting but they can literally end up with Pokémon getting killed.
The SS Anne will need to implement some more strict safety regulations after this.
@@alphabladelm2011 it could even be brought up in the Gold Series when Ethan travels on the S.S. Aqua and that all the windows have been made out of VERY reinforced glass that's ALMOST indestructible to prevent Pokemon being accidentally knocked out of the exterior windows

Quando você pegava o Cut, era só perder uma luta no navio antes de voltar pra Vermilion, assim você podia usar o Cut pra passar pelo Rock Tunnel, Lavender, Celadon, até chegar em Fushia, ir na Safari Zone, pegar o Surf e voltar, mas isso só não daria pra salvar o Raticate porque pra ter o Cut você precisa vencer o Rival

Mas na série que o Pedro tá fazendo ele tá explorando material de fã, é quase uma fanfic animada.
E nela, o Red matou o raticate por acidente.
