Yay!!! A new vid. We so enjoy the videos, and the newsletters, plus the way everybody is working towards achieving a common goal with help and cooperation! It's so refreshing, compared to BSG with all the drama and confrontational footage, that the videos are always a must-watch when they pop up in the notification icon! Keep on doing a great job!!!
Glad to see Ross got the right mask for the job. When I tried, and failed, to obtain my SCUBA certification, I just used a normal regulator and mask combo. Never tried the full-face options, but I can see how that could be an issue for people with "less common" faces. Back when I had an el-cheapo mask, in our pool dives I had to keep clearing the water out. After getting a proper mask, man that thing sealed like a DREAM. The right mask makes a huge difference.
Great content, well presented, very enjoyable. Love seeing you guys do well, overcoming. Good to see that Ross got a good fit. Very logical, the soft rubber of the mask perimeter conforming better. Good choice Ross, glad it is paying off. (Cold water scuba background)

Heart warming to see you again and it looks like you are doing great. I followed you some years ago on BSG and all the struggle you have gone through has finally paid off. Very well made YT videos interesting and informative. Better than the drama in BSG. Keep on rocking girl! Oh btw is Zeke still dredgeing somewhere out there? You used to work a lot together how is he?
I have often wondered about what you can do in a situation where you are on a REALLY HOT PATCH of gold and for some reason, like a storm, excessive wind or bad current, you have to up anchors and head for the harbor. Yes, you do have GPS but is that very accurate? Don't think so... You will not be able to go back and put the nozzle of the vacuum back on the EXACT spot where it was before you had to go. Now if you leave a tethered floating buoy on the surface you are just inviting someone else to poach your good spot so that wont work will it. With the visibility being so crappy some or most of the time, putting an under-water buoy on a short leash on the good spot may be a good idea BUT if the vis is down, the chances of actually finding it can vary from good to damn impossible on a less than good vis day. So what about using a sonar beacon? With a directional sonar receiver you should be able to home right in on your last location and start putting good gold in the box basically from minute 1 of the next dive. Downside is that if one or more of the other barges get themselves a directional sonar receiver and get out of harbor before you then they can poach your spot VERY EASILY. BUT there is a way around that too... Your sonar beacon must be able to go into "sleep" mode for 8 or whatever hours. It can be switched on with a timer or by receiving a coded "switch on" signal sent to it by the dredge when you get back to the area. Sounds very complicated and expensive but it does not need to be... I am sure that amongst your subscribers there will be at least one person with enough knowledge of micro computers (like an Arduino) to be able to put a beacon and directional finder together and it should not cost an arm and a leg. In fact, the first time you use it and immediately go down on the exact spot you had to leave the day before and start being productive within a minute or two of hitting the bottom instead of having to waste time poking around trying to find yesterday's honey hole, you will more than make up for the cost. The most expensive parts will probably be the motor cycle battery (to provide maybe a week of "standby" running and weight to stop it from floating away) and a decent small VERY waterproof box to put it in... Are there any followers who could maybe tackle such a project for our "girl" and her crew?
@theemilyriedel. That compressor head sounds like its gonna hand grenade. Wrist pin or rod. Take care of that now before the jug gets demolished. I'm sure there's a rebuild kit with new rods, slugs, and gaskets. Super easy to do.
What about diving with drysuits? Or, are you just down too long to stay warm without the hot water? I have a drysuit that I wear a heated vest with that keeps me toasty warm in 33-40 degree water, but I'm never down near as long as you guys.
Great episode! is there any particular reason the right side of the sluicebox seem to catch more gold than the left? Everytime you guys show gold in the mats it seems to be much more on one side than the other.
