TLDW - My quick thoughts on the new Turreted Enhanced AX Multicannons: Scout Hunting - Yes Interceptors - Hell No! Interesting build, tho. The low power usage of these weapons would allow going full Low Emissions on the power plant for 14% idle heat. Might consider building something like that if the rumoured Gimbal variants come. Yes, and better Xeno Scanner.
I actually went ahead and slapped on my Low Emissions Powerplant after you mentioned this - it's a fantastic combo with the human AX weapons. I can stay in Silent Running while orbiting an Interceptor for a respectable amount of time, cutting down on heatsink usage. I can't wait to get my hands on the Gimballed variant 😁
@@CMDRTheRiz Cool, I've started ti build mine, but put it on hold until gimbal AXMC is confirmed. I'll equip it with an universal limpet controller at first for maelstrom exploration, but should eventually replace that with D-grade repair limpets. D repairs as much as A. It just has worse range, which isn't needed for self repair.
Been running my Anaconda with 2 grade 3s and 2 grade 2s of the Enhanced AXs since they came out last night, and basically pointing my ship at a Scout deletes it from space in about a second flat. It's pretty wild, to be sure.
@Hay_M I’d love if we could just engineer the ones we have. Give us the same options we have with the wake scanner-wide angle (but longer scan time), long range (but narrow angle), or fast scan (only works at short range)
It is nice that the turreted can effectivly destroy hearths, the only downside is the useless scanner. Gimballed version would be nice, and removing the exerimental effect, so we could equip more oe along with guardian stuff.
nice test riz. new ax mc's so effective against scouts! Actually the old version is also effective but with slower bullet speed and so close "damage fallof start". The new version is really making my dakka dreams come true.
They're most effective against exerted hearts rather than the Interceptor's hull. The Community Goal to unlock the Fixed variant just completed a few hours ago, so I'd imagine they'll become available in the next few days. They'll have better damage, but I don't think I'll be able to use them that well on a Clipper 🙃
@@CMDRTheRiz hmm i see, i much prefer those than gauss on medium ships, too much heat. I'll try the fixed ones tonight & see how it goes vs interceptors
Sharp piloting, Cmdr., and cool vid. But this combat just looks like it's designed to "take a long time, doing the same thing over and over, forever." 👍🚀
Sometimes, though I've been running in Solo lately as I'm conducting weapons tests and developing new tactics for faster Thargoid kills. I'm still working on a reliable method to explode a Cyclops with basic ammo after only popping two of its hearts... my current Salvation Plasma Charger method only works about 40% of the time right now 😅
It's not "as good" vs normal npcs while in combat, because they stil have a cone of vision and can visually detect and shoot your ship, but still helps, also makes it so the have to be way nesrby to scan you and the scans take longer, etc
As @collincivish8962 mentioned, the Thargoids use your ship's thermal emissions to target you; reducing them below ~20% (seemingly upwards of 27% for my Clipper, not sure why) or activating Silent Running throws off their aim, but they can still visually spot and therefore engage you. In a recent FDEV livestream, one of the Community Managers mentioned that Interceptors have a 180° Field of View in front of them, and the swarms seem to spot me from across the instance, so it's not 100% foolproof. @martinmoss317 After a successful Xeno Scanner scan, I can scroll through the various hearts an Interceptor has via the Next Subsystem keybind; a small red box will appear around the center of the targeted heart. The AX Multicannon Turrets will then automatically fire at it, provided that they have line of sight to the Interceptor and I am in range (under 3 km for the Enhanced variant).
Ah clippers people forget how good they where , in the old days before the flashy ships arived . Old meta ships back in the day , to gether with the orca , courier cobra mkIIt he fastest ships in the game with full armour in game since the beginning.

The fundamentals are missing!, that they raise the allowed limit of AX cannons

I find the new AXs good too! Funny how the stations can take you out in seconds if you're naughty but have trouble taking out mere scouts!
Stations have weaponry designed to slice and dice you and your ship. Those weapons are somewhat less than effective against Thargoid targets.

"good to have you on the team let's kill some thargoids" i love that man
The current range of the Xeno Scanner is now just ridiculous, gone are the days when you could get nose to nose with a Thargoid and exchange details.
@Hay_M Hopefully we will get an 'Enhanced Xeno Sanner' like you said 🤞

they need to make the ax scanner standard on every ship so we don’t have to waste a slot
and increased range
@@ysfsim Truthfully I'd settle for an enhanced Xeno Scanner that either has a 1.5k scan range or a 2-4 second scan time.

Made me feel like building a AX clipper now.
Honestly it's not bad damage for a turreted version
I could see the gimballed and targeted types being used against interceptors.
They mince scouts nicely, true! Nice flying, CMDR 👌
Thanks!
woah.... i don't have a clue of about 66% of what is going on there but it is very cool none the less! 😲
Are those effective agains interceptors ? What about the fixed version ?

will the quest 2 vr work with this game ?

Especially with the human AX weapons, and with higher-tier Interceptors - this was only against the base model!
My thoughts exactly. It's great for picking some scouts. For interceptors? Ehh
Hey i just got blown up like 4 times fighting there the other day xD
Do you play in Open mode, Cmdr?

@@CMDRTheRiz I might see you out there some time then 07
Personally find 3 x Size 2 modified shards much better at murdering scouts.
Absolutely - Salvation weapons are the best. My personal favorite is a full loadout of those Salvation Plasma Chargers 🙂
Why the silent running?
Thargs see your heat signature. If you're in silent running, or below 20%, they have a hard time detecting and targeting you.
It's not "as good" vs normal npcs while in combat, because they stil have a cone of vision and can visually detect and shoot your ship, but still helps, also makes it so the have to be way nesrby to scan you and the scans take longer, etc
I didn't see you specifically target the hearts after they were exhausted. how were you targeting the hearts.
Some of this looks really fun, and some looks really boring.
I can't figure out why. 🤔
Because you just described Elite Dangerous to a T. Have fun for an hour, then grind for 5 hours
