I bought this exact bike at the end of December 2023. In addition to the Missing Swat Storage, I am running into a huge problem trying to replace the 40T with a 36T or even 34T chainring. Specialized change everything on their specs this year. I have searched with numerous bike shops and online with no luck or help from SRAM or Specialized. Many chainrings come close to fitting but the X-Sync makes it impossible. Any suggestions where I can find just a smaller chainring for this bike. I need it for steeper climbs bikepacking.
omg thank you for this review. been contemplating getting this bike bcs there are very few reviews about this bike's range and always the top high-end bikes.
The Specialized Sirrus 4.0x comes with the same 1.5 future shock at $1500. I think for a $3500 bike they could have upgraded to the 2.0 future shock. Not that I am a fan of it , would rather have fewer moving parts because anything that moves wears out
Future Shock 2.0 includes a damper, this one has none, thus a pogo stick like a Walmart bike. With a simple damper you need to cash out at least U$ 6000. Ways to go, Specialized. Suck dry the customer.
Honestly if you are on a budget: don't get the cheapest carbon frame of a bike. Marketing is getting the best of you with this. I was seriously considering this bike until I test rode a BMC URS AL One. This is an example of a very similarly specked bike and about $800 cheaper, while still being lighter than the diverge carbon sport.
I have the 2022 Pro model with Roval wheels with 45 tires and Sram Red AXS 1x12. My experience has been very disappointing mainly due to the weight of the bike! It’s like a tank and too heavy for century + gravel and mountain rides. On the positive side the future shock is awesome but the weight factor outweighs the positive. So disappointed with nine so far which means frame is sale.
Pretty heavy for a little 52 size. The downtube storage is such a great feature for these types of endurance gravel bikes and its a luxury I wouldn't want to miss out on when looking for a new ride. Otherwise great bike. I normally get bored of the black and grey colors but this pattern is pretty sweet looking.
Been Mountain bikining 20 years Xc, trail, enduro never own a road gravel bike last time i ride a road bike was 40 years ago, i have the bug for a gravel bike want to buy the cheapest one diverge aluminium my problem is that i dont have a way to test ride one and i dont know if im gona love it or hated, someone Who is a mtb rider and do some road gravel any feedback?
Gravel bikes are best used for longer rides that require you to link trails via gravel/paved roads. Or if you would rather bike to a trail than load a car. If you don't know how you'll take to it, I'd stick with some of the cheaper brands that offer direct to consumer like Poseidon or Polygon (stay away from State as their quality control is garbage). Or, see if you can rent one from a bike shop for a day.
"... helping lower the cost by missing the burrito box!". Are you kidding us? I just checked the price tag: Specialized demandsa whopping EUR 3750,- for this bike which is beyond ridiculous. Not even high inflation and snobby marketing image justifies this absurdly high price for its components.
I test rode both last year's and this year's models of this bike at the Comp and Expert levels and found the ride to be disappointingly uninspiring and not comfortable. On paper, looking at the geometry and design of this bike, it should be perfect, but it just doesn't execute in reality. I also didn't like the Future Shock when climbing or sprinting. Just not the bike for me. I much preferred the ride and fit of the Cervelo Aspero and Specialized Crux.
I'm not sure why, but it feels like BMC gets slept on here in the US. They produce excellent bikes within a decent budget range. I built up a Diverge 9R and it feels like a tank to me. I have a BMC AL Twostroke xc bike and love it. I'm considering to sell my Diverge and go with the URS AL One.
This is a very comfortable bike. I have ridden it and the expert Carbon extensively, I chose to buy an epic Evo because I can upgrade it more easily and get a lot more capability than the diverge. It’s not a rack hauling beast like the diverge, but I can run with a diverge one day and dance on a rock garden the next! Great video👍
Different carbon lay up for more expensive models ha. I'm guessing no extra material or labor cost. They must be claiming to pass on the R&D costs of cutting 100 grams. So they could possibly make all frames s-works but intentionally make heavier frames unless you pay up. Just a guess.
I've never owned a carbon framed bike, and you BET when (if ever) I progress towards owning one, it will be a HARD PASS ON THE CUT OUT FOR A STORAGE BOX IN A CARBON FRAME, lol. Thanks for an otherwise informative review!
Absolutely infuriating- being a small female means I have to go for the 44, which means I can only have the sport model which means I miss out on the swap and the future shock 2.0 come on specialised stop being so bloody sexist!!
So how much better is the carbon frame? It really looks like the aluminum models are a better buy for most people and aren't much heavier.
Thanks for that James just saved me a long van ride buying a used carbon sport Diverge pointing out where corners been cut

What I dont like about those big brands is that their portfolio is too wide and confusing.

Interesting enough it is now $1000 cheaper likely for this exact reason.
Thanks for sharing this with us
You bet!
Also: Sunrace cassette. That saved Specialized how much vs a SRAM?
I'm still waiting for a bladed, short travel, gravel specific fork to come out
bars remind me of the Soma Condor bars but a bit lower in height.

I can live without the SWAT on the frame, handlebar bags look pretty cool anyway

not enough bang for the buck if you ask me
How about some e bike reviews James?
Got a few of them up. I personally need to get more educated on them before making videos

So erm, what’s that one MAJOR flaw?
no SWAT box i think
Yep, seems like a mistake to eliminate the SWAT box on only (1) variant of the bike.
@@Jamesthebikeguy that's how they bait and switch you into the divirge expert $$$.
@@Jamesthebikeguy sounds legit, thanks
