I want to do both play acoustic songs and then learn lead guitar. Currently I spend most of my practice time doing the Guitar scale number 1, basically the G scale. And then I work on cord progression. I am an absolute beginner. 2 and a half months. I hope I am on the right track.

Great video Danny and I agree with every word. Unfortunately I have new obstacles I'm in the process of overcoming first and I hope there aren't any others in my boat. I played guitar for 30 years and unexpectedly found myself in need of a series of spine surgeries that left me weak uncoordinated and unable to even walk. Guitar playing came to a screeching halt. I pouted and felt sorry for myself for nearly seven years and sold everything but a Fender acoustic. My left hand curled into what they call a "claw hand" but my left hand and fingers were just weak and stiff. My wife kept encouraging me to try to play over and over. Finally I picked up the acoustic and found that I could play a few simple licks and chords. So I was encouraged enough to buy an inexpensive Epiphone Les Paul LT and a little 20 watt Fender amp. So I'm more in the process of finding out what I can and can't do. Although I feel a lot like a newbie, videos like yours inspire me to keep pushing myself. Each day I find a new discovery. So now I encourage everyone to never give up. Just keep telling yourself "I can do this", go slowly and keep pushing yourself. BTW I'm 76 yrs old. Thanks again for your encouragement.

Absolutely right on, it's personal... At least for me, a routine, when it no longer informs me becomes tired and useless. Bravo!

I agree that people fall within certain categories. However, in order to get back into playing guitar after several years, I learned the open chords and campfire songs just to get my foot in the door. That doesn’t mean that’s all I wanted to do to learn the guitar. I’d love to shred like Rhoads, Van Halen, or Malmsteen. Now that I feel I have the basics, the only thing is up after that. I’ve learned the pentatonics. I’ve learned the patterns to connect them. I can listen to any chord progression and come up with some interesting solos…and I’m still learning. My point is we can’t classify people as “campfire” or “professional” guitarists. We are what we put the effort into. 😎🤘🏻🎸

I am very excited to hear some other sound than you normally hear to learn guitar.I me, myself want to play like Keith Richards, the way he sets asong with his rythme and chords, and not to play as many notes in a minute.Thats what I want to learn and not sit around a campfire our teacher was talking about. But is there a way other than just listen good to Keith?

I love to play and sing, but cannot remember the chords! I have to have the sheet music in front of me. Cannot stand this deficiency...
