Ooooohh my childhood! I believe I had a Sound Blaster device back in the 90's.

I had an ESS 1869 (SB pro compatible), but I didn't give a shit about it. The main thing is that I could play with the sound in those days😄

This is awesome. Sounds really close to a real MT-32, I'm impressed. Usually these kind of "emulations" of those times were not close to the real thing at all. Way way better than the "de facto" adlib.
Did you load some custom patches or what did you do before running the game? What's your setup?
Edit: just read the info, standard patch.. cool.

this is actually really nice but i feel like the main flute is too soft. it is definitely unique and sounds very "pretty".

Well this is emulated. It is impressive if you think what the ultrasound did cost at the day. SB16 only did FM and was at the same price point.

Olli Solitanner SB16 was actually considerably more expensive.

In theory the GUS was vastly superior (go listen to the amiga games of the time, which used low quality sample based music that the GUS could beat no problem at all). In practice lack of effort meant the GUS was not better.

@The12stringwizard That is because the LAPC-I *IS* basically an MT-32. It's an internal version of the CM-32L (the newer version of the MT-32 with extra sound effects) with a built in MPU-401 MIDI controller.
Personally most of the time, these so called MT-32 emulators sound like shit because they can't remap the instruments to make new sounds, where a real MT-32, MT-100, CM-32L, CM-64, CM-500 and the LAPC-I can. Run Space Quest 4 using the MT-32 emulation on a GUS and see what I mean
