Hi Edgar, another great and helpfull video. Where you not only show your knowledge but also you make it easy for beginners as I am. You are carismatic and a great speaker.
Well that was very interesting and informative. I certainly enjoyed it. I wanted to do a little violin making now that I am retired. I did do my own violin. I bought a Polish made Guenary. White violin by a Master maker and finished it myself. It did turn out nice and has a good sound to it. I am learning how to play the violin now. I do have a 1817 Salzard that needs repaired and restored.
Lest we forget: Georg Gemunder! There is a very excellent book vcalled Georg Gemunder's Experience in Violin Making t6hat is well edited and available in Kindle. It was originally written and published as an only first volume by Georg Gemunder himself. The forward of the ebook is inspiring. (This edition is "Edited by Steven Coach.)
Hello Edgar Very interesting info in this video to know the difference between both biggest violin makers Really, I’m so excited in your videos to get more and more knowledge about violin lessons Thank for Saudia arabia
Great video, thanks Edgar for this important information, I started to make a Il cannone( Paganini), I will be in Cremona in august and will visit you if it’s possible, I should be there’s the last year but the pandemic didn’t aloud to be there, thanks again for this great video and see you in august, be safe.
GARNERI AND STRADIVARI are inventors of firsts great violons !!!! both had give powerful at Amati concept...Amati iscthe first maker which create a great song (but with low projection power) ! but Now for 1,5/7k i know ultra perfect violin !!!!!!
Zweiter ... Always inspiring videos with well founded presentations. You said perfurlings/inlays strengthen the spruce timber edges. Doesnt't the groove you cut into weaken the edges of the wood?
If the groove would be empty it would weaken. But now you fill it with a material that runs in a different direction than the spruce and then it gets more durable.
Samlaren gave a great answer on your concern! Think of plywood: one layer is thin and weak but already two layers glued together ( with its grain ind two different directions) makes it very stiff and durable! Edgar
@@EdgarRuss Thanks for the answers. The gluing does the job together with the inlays. So the perfurlings are much more than just decorative assets. Learned something.
I prefer Strad viola and Guarneri Violin...EVEN IF ITS COPY...DESIGN HAVE INCIDENCE ON SONG....My better instrument dont exceed 25k... but at this price copy are greats.
Dear Edgar, is Anna's violin you compare to/examine this one? violincellomaker.shop/products/anna-arietti-2018 If so, very rounded, solid sound. (Also you are a wonderful charismatic speaker. Thank you for teaching me something I never knew about! Please keep up the good work. -J)
Your comment is a great compliment for me! Thank you sOOOOO much! Because there so many who are magnificent speakers but know little about what they are talking about. And this is dangerous; it creates confusion and the ones who want to know are only disturbed. I started making this videos after 30 years of intense violinmaking, making violins. All the best from Cremona and thanks for your comment Edgar
Being from America... and having lived in France for 18 months... Edgers English is very good! Way better then my french! And to boot he has so much knowledge... I find that I have no problem looking pass the dictation to see the subject matter! Thank you maestro!
“The ones who are interested will be very interested”. Such a true statement. So glad to see this content. Thank you.

Anna Arietti's corner looks good!
All corners must look good!
Strads look good - no wonder the "snob"value!
You are so honest!
Heard the instrument too, among the best in Cremona.
Is that a speedmaster you are wearing???
Yessssss!From 1969
😅

❤❤❤
Here's me thinking that the 'f holes' were more different and what you were going to get to rather than the corners. Not paying attention, was I.
Hallo Edgar,
wollte mal einen lieben Gruß da lassen :)
Your videos about the wood and the difference in making etc are always interesting.
Liebe Grüße
Danke Danke Arthur!
Immer schön von dir zu hören!
Schönen Sommer und sollte es bei euch passen kommt ruhig vorbei!

Clean out your eyes a little bit.... hahaha.
This guy may be very knowledgeable, but is a terrbile speaker. Is there anyone watching out for incompetent speakers?

This man has been making violins for 13 years. That is a very little time. I find his presentation overly dramatic, not very informative
How many violins have you built?
