This song is about the lead singers mother. How tolerant she was and how her compassion is both a gift and a curse. It becomes a personal hell to watch a person you love be taken advantage of for being so empathetic and compassionate especially when you are one of the people that's screwing up and causing them pain.
this guys are till this day my favorite band, sadly the singer died some years ago leaving a void impossible for anyone to fill and if i remember correctly Peter Steele wrote this song for his mother.
Each album is a look into what Peter was going thru at the time. Best albums to start with are October Rust, Life is Killing Me. Songs of these: Love you to death, Red Water (Christmas Mourning) - Best Christmas song ever! Wolf Moon, Burnt Flower Fallen, Anesthesia, Todd's Ship Gods, The Dream is Dead..... There is no such thing as a bad Type O song. Next steps would be the Bloddy Kisses and Dead Again albums. Then there are the first two albums, Slow Deep and Hard / Origin of the Feces. These are great, but very different from the later works. Then there is World Coming Down, the most depressing album ever, but also amazing.
Probably one of the sweetest songs in heavy metal history in terms of the lyrics. Also Pete Steele is like the reverse of the typical heavy metal high note singer. He goes for bass notes(while also playing the bass). Pretty unique for the genre.
Also, most of their later songs are EXTREMELY emotional one way or another even though they have a couple energetic and funny songs each album to laugh at themselves.
Man, I love this band so much. Thank you for checking them out. Really hope you get a chance to check out more. September Sun, Wolf Moon, In Praise of Bacchus, Summer Breeze are other songs you might want to check out.
Ok. TON is my favorite band! This song is a deep cut...not one I'd have chosen for an intro, but...why not? Thanks Julie! You two did a great job w the analytics here! Must hear is song, Love You To Death...dark but sonically beautiful! Singer Peter Steele has passed, (heart condition) the band no more, but I have the best memories working TON shows...what a great bunch of guys from Brooklyn. Pete was 6'8", a big strong guy...he looked so scary...but couldn't have been a nicer person! Sadly, tho, he suffered depression his whole life...had a rough ride with it.
Nettie was Peter's Mother. This is actually my absolute favorite Type O song. It's not well known outside of hard-core Type O fans, but it's absolutely beautiful. 🖤💚🖤💚🖤💚 First time I've seen someone do a reaction to this song. 😀
strange choice, they have hits and many other songs i think is better then this one. but hey any type-o is welcome :) it's just so hard to find reactors to Type-O. hidden gems. if you gonna try some more i would recommend starting with studio recordings as opposed to live or videos
I'm actually super glad they chose this instead of one of their hits like EVERYONE else does. It's not only a beautiful song, but extremely personal and meaningful to Peter. It's a nice change and honestly, it's my favorite TON song. They have SO many other good songs aside from their hits (Black #1, Love You To Death, Christian Woman, etc)
P.S. Some of their best performances are live, non-studio recordings and/or do nor have official videos. This shouldn't make people not do reactions to them.

Everything Dies, Love you to death, black No.1, Life is killing me, Wolf moon... Just few song which are worth to check out ! 🎶💚💚
Tiina, we love you!
3:19 has so much gravitas going on,the slow churn of the instruments and Peter growling out latin..spinechilling.
Nettie is probably my favorite ton song. But they have soo many amazing songs. My favorite band.
Thank you for covering this! As far as I know this is the first time in the history of Mankind that anyone has reacted to Nettie. Cheers!
My pleasure! That would be a cool honor if we were the first!

For those who don't know Nettie wasn't just a person, she was the person, and she was Peter's mother so he wrote this song to honour her memory.
They had a brilliant sense of humour, there's a prank track (normally the one with most pretentious name) on most of their albums
You want to check out their best song - Anesthesia. Also Love you to Death , Wolf Moon and basically all of October rust .

Type O N is an all-seasons vibe band ⛈🌈☀☃⚡🌊💧🔥
If you want more, 'Black #1' is a good one by Type O negative.
Also, most of their later songs are EXTREMELY emotional one way or another even though they have a couple energetic and funny songs each album to laugh at themselves.

Type O Negative was my first concert in March 1996 when they opened for Ozzy along with Sepultura when I was 11 years old
Miss you Pete!...🥹🥲
You are with your mother now.
See you on the other side...🙏
💚🖤
"true i am the son of an angel/maternally not one woman compares" it's about peter's mother
Peter Steele🧨🧨was FIRE! 'Gielfriend's Girlfriend' is my favourite!
I could be wrong, but "Nettie" is the shorted form of the name Annette. Similar to how you'd call some one Betty for Elizabeth/Beatrice.
Do More type o negative plz

The Line Maternally not one woman Compares should have been your biggest clue as to who she was to Him!
Type O Negative is one of my favorite bands. Please react to Anesthesia by TON.
The Green Man is particularly beautiful as is September Sun.
Was fortunate enough to meet Peter back in 2008 what would be their last tour
❤
How can you not figure out from the lyrics that this song is about his mother? He does say “maternally.”
