It's a rare thing when a song can so perfectly capture the zeitgeist of a specific time period. This track perfectly captures the essence and feel of the 90s; there is so much hope, innovation, optimism, fun, and excitement in this amazing song, all things that defined the feel of the 90s. It's impossible not to remember all the wonderful times you had during that glorious decade. I was born in the 80s and began the 90s as an elementary school kid and ended it in high school, yet I didn't discover this song until a few years ago. Every time I listen to it, it assaults my senses with memories of places I used to go, friends and people I knew back then, and countless wonderful experiences I had growing up. No time period has ever come close to matching how special the 90s were for me, and I am forever grateful for songs like this that serve as my own personal time machine, transporting me back to much better times.
All of the nineties boiled down into one clip. Style, tune, text, delivery, the whole thing. A naive but sweet belief, that things were genuinely getting better. What a decade to spend your teens and early twenties. And how wrong we were...
A fragment from the best of times. Raves, sunsoaked beaches, nights spent with friends walking about, watching the night sky. There was no real internet to speak of, that is, nothing gobbling up our time, minds or lives.
When it came to 90s music this was England at its best, male and female singers and groups, couldn't put a foot wrong and this, was perfect example of that.
I loved this song back then when I was a teenager but I didn’t speak English. Today this song came back to my mind and I had no clue how to look it up since I didn’t remember any words ( I now speak English though). I hummed it on SoundHound and I found it! So happy!!!!

Born in 93, I heard this song playing my entire childhood on TV, Commcercials, and from my parents stereo and car. So many amazing memories attached. I feel like I absorbed this song into my soul from my childhood until now at age 30, and I'm so glad it was around me for so long. It will always stay with me. Thank you Miss Jane, thank you Orbital, Halcyon On and On, thank you Opus III ♥.

This is an amazingly complex track, with those haunting piano chords and warm samples. Clearly one of the strongest 90's rave tracks and as others have said, encapsulates the whole 90's rave vibe.
I was a small child when I heard this voice on the radio from a remixed club music. Only on fridays they would play these songs I had no words for. So I would record them on tapes so I could take it with me. What I wouldnt give to have those tapes. As a man who has come full circle. Thank you for this. Im glad my journey through life has shown me these gems. Glad you are all here.
What a classic dance track, from a short-lived band. The voice of one of the most recognizable singers in dance music, Kirsty Hawkshaw. When this came out in 1992, everyone and their mother wanted this track. But (at least where I live) they didn't release this as a standalone single, so all the folks who wanted to play this song had to wait for the album "Mine Fruit" to come out so that they could get it. Also, this was sampled beautifully on Orbital's "Halcyon" (and subsequent "Halcyon + On + On"). Thanks for posting this video.
I like the original song "a capella" of Jane (1983), written by English poet and musician Edward Barton... and this version of british electronic music group, ten years after... a sound based on "It´s alright" of Pet Shop Boys (Introspective, 1988) ... and emulated in the song "Future of the future" of Everything But The Girl (Temperamental, 1999).
Just learned about the original version (also credited to "Jane and Barton") from a Slapped Ham video. The rest of the lyrics not used by the Opus III cover are gems...except that last line about the salad. LOL
@@eat_pray_porg8450 Yeah, that's weird. The original is not happy, though. It's really clear from the video that it's someone saying happy things to cover up the fact that they're very sad. I think that's why it ends "we will have salad".

This just hits in a way that only very few songs/tracks do, ethereal, energetic, mystical. I love the chord synth that comes in and out of the track in harmony with the melody. So many elements and sounds coming in and out, the imagination and creativity that went into writing and producing this cannot be overstated. Standing the test of time the way it has is a true testament to how superb this track is.
