    Love your videos. I’m retired fr 40 years in the business. A tip I learned years ago. Instead of using tape or eyeballing your rise and run on the square,clamp a 1 X 3 to the square to join your # s then just slide it long and make marks. This completely eliminates human error. Worked for me. Keep up the good work. This is 100% Canadian approved 😂

      I was kind of wondering about that myself. Never seen it done with tape on a square, just with stair knocks. Should tell him not to buy just two but 6 because you'll always loose one or it will fall off your pouch😄 I dropped one in pea gravel and stopped what I was doing instantly and couldn't find it lol

    Errmmm Scott, DPC is for going between a wet and a dry material NOT simply between concrete and timber. Both the stringer and the pad are in wet environments. Putting DPC there will actually accelerate rot in the stringer. It will trap and attract moisture there on both sides. Unfortunately it's a very common fail. Especially, for some reason, by people who have either worked in, or are from, the UK.

    hi scott instead of using tape to mark the position on the square i have two 6mm coupling nuts in which i cut a slit (perpendicular to the threads, about the middle of the nut 16mm long are the ones i find here and about 75% deep the thickness of the coupling nut) the thickness of the square and secure them with two bolts to which i welded wingnuts (hope it makes sense). they are commercially available but not here so i made my own. with care are very precise and a matter of resting them on the beam (i do steel not wood... welder...). nice work man. thank you for sharing. take care. pete. ha just read another comment they are called stair gauges. i`m sure gaston has them in the magic van

  • @colinmcinnis3999
    @colinmcinnis3999 4 года назад

    Man, this comment could be left on any of your videos, but though you may pay more than in Canada/US for tools or whatever that availability looks like (as so many come from the US market), you are sure lucky you can get a Toyota van like that! Just so nice- can't be found here in Canada. Totally jealous of that thing! Good channel, been following along for a few years now. ;)

    Hey Scott just a thought. If you get two bits of timber, say 40×10 about 600 long and two wingnuts plus bolts, you can clamp it to either side of the framing Square at the required spacing and just slide it down the stringers marking as you go. No need for tape and with a turn of the wingnuts easily changed for different rise and going and removable for storage. Another good video BTW..👍👍👍👍
