If you're getting an error that says that you cannot connect to Apple's servers, instead of pressing command and R, you should press option command and R. This should bring you to the newer utility where you can actually install a newer Mac OS version. And if you're still getting that error you should try and connect to another Wi-Fi if possible. These two steps helped me resolve the issue.
Best tutorial 👍👌
Thank you!
hello mate nice video, question,,,do i need to save the OS or just replace and upgrade the ssd, cheers
Thanks
Want to ask.. When plug the ssd .. I see have 2 hole... I must plug in above or below. Because if i try plug above it can not.
Hello there, hope to get an answer, I had a Macbook pro 2017 Model A1708 and it broke so I bought another one thinking it was exactly the same but it turned out to be a 2016 model, I tried to get the SSD from the 2017 model into the 2016 model but it's not working and I was hoping to get all my files out of the SSD (The SSD 2017 is a 656-0068A), would anyone happen to know how to fix this?

What was the replacement drive?? Another Apple one?
What is that cable above the battery screw called! With the stickiness of the protector, my cable broke while trying to remove. Looking to replace!
Do you have a video upgrading the RAM on this exact model? I'm not sure it's possible?
Nevermind, I just researched and found another video, it's basically not possible for a "normal" non-technical human to remove and upgrade the RAM in an A1708 model macbook pro (non-touchbar) 🤣
Thanks for this useful video! But I have some question... please, why is the SSD adapter needed? which is its use? Thanks!
not sure which they used but i got a huyun m2 nvme off Amazon for like 10 bucks. works fine
I do not notice any adaptor being used 😅
