- Jesus Christ began his famous Sermon on the Mount with a list of the eight "Beatitudes."
But what does Beatitudes mean and why are they important?
Jesus begins each Beatitude with the Greek word "makarios," which is translated as "Blessed are the..."
Beatitude (makarios) is a word that means "happy" or "blessed."
But the strange thing about Jesus's Beatitudes is that the people he described don't sound very happy or blessed.
How can someone be poor and happy? Or be blessed with mourning? Who can be meek or hungry or thirsty and still happy?
It all sounds crazy until you think about what Jesus invites his disciples to become with his help.
When Jesus shared the Beatitudes with his disciples, he was not lecturing them. The Beatitudes were an invitation to his disciples to become a new kind of people. He was inviting them to understand what people are like in the Kingdom of God.
Christians chooses to be poor in spirit because they know it is the path towards happiness.
Christians mourn together and find comfort.
Christians remain meek and humble because making other people happy leads to our own happiness.
The hungry Christian will be filled. The merciful Christian will be shown mercy.
The list goes on.
Live the Beatitudes and find the path towards happiness.

Beatitude 😻😼😽🙀😾
“REJOICE!!! And be exceedingly glad…”
The body brings pain and sorrows apart from you the infinite bliss of Beatitude .
What is the difference between a smart man and a wise man,a smart man knows how to get himself out of trouble,a wise man knows not to get into it❤
🙏🏻
The eternal Beatitude functions in and through all living organism .
The opposite of poor is rich. A rich man could be greedy or generous just as a poor man could be greedy.
I always translated Beatitude as "Beautiful-Attitude". 😇
Where it is written in the Bible that God want us to be happy?
I thought that the reward come on the other side aka Even!
It says “poor in spirit” not poor and one can be rich in money without being greedy as well
☝🤓
btw im joking, no hate
Could also mean praised or honoured.
I disagree. Joy is the term you are meaning. God doesn’t care if you are happy or not but rather your holiness. Just like a parent doesn’t care about a child’s happiness rather their health and safety. God and Parents do things that make their children unhappy all the time but it’s actually what’s best for them.
