I do agree that there needs to be more representation out there for drag kings. And it isn't because there aren't any, that's for sure. But I think it is much harder for drag kings to get booked because there is still a heavy stigma on women who are more masculine or dress masculine. I've never understood why but people seem to be uncomfortable with it. Even in the drag world, women kinda get the shorter end of the stick. I think it's really because we live in a society that takes it's beauty cues from the Hollywood industry that keeps manufacturing this ideal beauty image that really gets forced onto women. Anything that doesn't fit into that standard is rejected as ugly. I think that's also why glam femme queens gets the most bookings, because the are that gold standard of beauty that society wants. With Erin. What's the point in having a 'spectrum' of opinions if we just exclude the people who we disagree with? I know she came off as aggressive but with a game like odd one out I think she was just trying to do her best.
Honestly Tara Shay (the white plussize queen) was very well spoken and understood that not all people are left, not all understand lgbt and drag, and went out of her way to make those people included. At time of political division people like this bring us closer together
Thank you. I'm from Mississippi where I have had to spend a lot of time really getting in depth but at a level that is easy for people outside of our community to understand. Sometimes we use all these labels and terms that can be confusing for members of our own community, much less allies who want to help us or people who are just genuinely unaware.
Maybe yalls political division is due to the fact that many people would rather fight, scream, throw marches, shade people and call them uneducated instead of siting down and talking about it.Not from america just what i think
When one of the queens said she was kicked out on her birthday because she’s gay, I immediately started tearing up and I cried because no one deserves to be treated like that. Especially not by their parents. It breaks my heart that some people just can’t accept and continue to love others. I really love and respect what drag performers do.
Seeing a drag king in this line up really made me happy, because the drag community that I know and that I have been around seem to not accept women into the ranks of drag
That's because drag has always been a way for men to break out of their strict expectations of masculinity; a way for gay men to parody the nuclear family. It's not about women, never has been. It's been for gay men. That doesn't mean women can't do drag or be included, but it's so frustrating to see women who have feminism, who have all this meant for them try and occupy a space meant for gay men.
@H-hewwo ???? I mean that's very fair. I don't really agree, but I can see why it's offensive. Back when drag was very "underground", offensive or not wasn't really an issue. Now that it's mainstream I believe Drag queens should be more sensitive in how they choose to portray women
@@Sabartio The foundation for modern drag culture was built largely by trans women, especially trans women of color. Drag was never really just about cis men, though they've largely taken the stage from the trans people who helped build it up and have misappropriated it into something actively harmful to the trans community. Drag has always been about women. So many of the people who created it were women, trans or otherwise. Drag isn't a space for gay men - gay men took it and many have turned it into a mockery of many of the people who helped define it. Don't act like women as a whole have massive amounts of space and freedom allowed 'because feminism' when your whole statement reinforces how women were kicked out of the space they helped make.

Bradon 2k a lot of people call drag queens and Kings he and she both interchangeably, it’s all about whether the queen or king is okay to be referred as he and she (not if they’re trans obviously) and we don’t know if he is comfortable with being called she in drag so 🤷♂️
I really wish they would have asked if they believed straight people could do drag. I feel like that could have been a very controversial discussion special after the inclusiveness question.
I think that straight people can do drag. But sometimes (especially men) are afraid of getting out of their gender and be called gay or something like that
I think it's good that Tara ( rainbow hair ) was included since having a different opinion is interesting for a test on different values. I might not agree but it's great that not everyone is/thinks the same.
Quite strange that she felt that sis gender women shouldn't be able to do drag or that they dont really do it "the right way"....but then on another question preceeds to say that their are other Queens that will tell her that she should be wearing a gurdle to give herself a waist, or that she isn't doing things the "Right way".....i know we all contradict ourselves at times in life but i do think this was done rather quickly considering it was only minutes later lol. I know she even admitted it but i still think that was kinda sad cuz she expects that sis gender women should only be able to do drag if they dress outlandishly as she sees it, which is worse than other queens telling her that maybe she should wear a girdle to help give her a waist line, or do maybe do something a little differently...which in some cases could have just been misread from someone actually just intending to give constructive criticism...which i think is all fine and dandy cuz at the end of the day, you're the one that can choose to take their advice or not.... But basically telling someone that they can't be a drag queen just because they are a woman (just masked as just saying some women dont do it well enough and dont dress appropriately so they should do it big or not at all. This is just my opinion from what i observed in her choices and opinions.
@@becky7854 I agree with you, I don't know if she contradicted herself because she was pressured to answer so quickly but she did and I also think that "only if you dress appropriately" is not a valid arguments to dismiss any other form of being a sis woman and doing drag. It's up to each person themselves and receiving the same criticism she wants to put on other was sorta rude. But that just goes to show that such surveys put you under a lot of pressure, I wouldn't have been able to answer so quickly to each question tbh
I think her problem was more so that cis women didnt know how to properly do drag. I dont think she was trying to restrict anyone from doing so, just saying that if youre gonna do drag, do it in a way that shows your drag instead of half-assing it
@@derrickcarter4165 I get what you mean but it's still a bit hypocritical of her tbh. I do feel like that if you're gonna half-ass something then just don't do it at all but whatever is and is not, is not up to anyone to decide. Some are less experienced in doing drag, insecure at first or whatever reason may lead to conclude someone isn't putting their whole heart into it just yet, doesn't mean they should be criticised for it but rather encouraged to try harder. But I agree that she wasn't having bad intentions or meant to piss people off, it's her opinion so she's free to have it.
This was strangely one of the most interesting things I have ever watched. I honestly don’t know that much about Drag culture, so this fascinated me. I am proud do them for being who they are and not being afraid of judgment.
@@reese6230 I did think that, but it's also marketing (like people would click more on drag queen) and still publicity for Kings. I'm pretty sure a lot of people don't even know Kings exist or don't value them as much as drag Queens.

I actually had to re-watch that. I thought they had fair points though. I've often wondered if drag style isn't a (cruel) mockery of one type of woman/lady. I get suspicious easily. I want to believe them when they say they love womanliness... Which isn't the same thing as femininity. It's difficult for me but I'm messed up too, I know.
i really love all of their looks tbh and i loved how respectful they were. i know drag queens and kings have their own issues but it really does seem like a mostly positive community
As a mother it breaks my heart that a parent would kick someone out for being gay. If any of my kids were gay, drag queens or whatever I would support them. I just want them to be themselves and life their true life... Sending mom hugs to those who need them!
I mean if only bad parents just kicked people out. It makes my blood boil when I read about another pair of teenagers being stoned to death or killed in different way in some areas of the world (like some of more "conservative" middle-eastern countries).
@@chrisj1306 I wouldn't say that's necessarily true, they pointed out in a video that they need more conservatives in the workplace to have more different ideologies, whether they actually hired them is something else.
Amzer Soo, just because they may have hired some extra conservatives you think that means they automatically silenced the woman? Not only is that a horrible and inaccurate way to think of right leaning people, since you’re assuming they’re sexist. If someone who was ACTUALLY sexist or homophobic edited this video, they would cut most of the men because it’s easier to see a woman dress up and pretend she’s a man than to see a man dress up and pretend he’s a woman.

@@sunnivaleflair3576 I'm from America and I agree wholeheartedly. Sometimes I need a drink because of how our political climate has been.

I think it's good that Tara ( rainbow hair ) was included since having a different opinion is interesting for a test on different values.
I might not agree but it's great that not everyone is/thinks the same.
She didn't really have a different opinion though, just nuance to add to the conversation (which is still good, don't get me wrong).
