I remember seeing this with my dad when I was a youngster. We both laughed so hard we cried. On the drive home one of us would say 'thar she blews ' or 'swine leg' and we'd start crying with laughter once again. Lost dad this April at the age of 89. Those were the best of times.
I feel your loss... I've just lost my dad three weeks ago, age 56. Same humour, hopefully i'll one day find someone who also fully appreciates these movies as much as my dad and I did :)
When I saw this as a teen in the theater, I couldn't stop laughing when the parrot blew off. His total commitment to the disguise and his absolute lack of concern when the thing is revealed as a complete fake--only Clouseau!
I love the way in which the dog looks up at the man like "WTF is this supposed to be? He can't be serious..." That's one of the things which is marvelous about the original Pink Panther films. Clouseau always thought that his disguises were incredibly clever, but only two of them ever really fooled anyone (the dentist from "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" and Mr. Big from "Revenge Of The Pink Panther") -- and even those didn't last long. Lady Lytton in "Return Of The Pink Panther" saw right through him both times she saw him in disguises. Then again, I remember reading somewhere that the reason why Catherine Schell was always laughing in those scenes was because she just couldn't stop herself!
My husband and I (35 years together) fell in love (in some part) over our mutual love of Peter Sellers/Pink Panther movies. To this day we quote/throw out dialogue from his films. If there IS an afterlife? I wanna have lunch with Peter Sellers. Loved your comment. XO
"...put the air in the parrotin....".... and "completely under zee cover, nobody should suspect such a ting". "....thar she blows...' Laughing so hard it is difficult to type....ha
Loved this when growing up and just as unforgettable now. Hilarious scene in such a funny film, even if it gets a bit of flak compared to films before it. Working with Peter Sellers may not have been easy but it couldn't have been dull!
I hate these kind of comments. So cliche and predicable. Funny movies have existed in all decades for the past 100 years. They still make funny movies. They are rare just like back then.
Only disliked because Movieclips cut off the scene finale when he falls off the pier! They always pull this crap with their clips. I love the Pink Panther movies and this whole COMPLETE scene was one of my favorites in the series!

I have the exact same situation with my dad. It has brought us to tears of laughter many a time. Thank you for Sharing
My dad and I shared many a laugh over Peter Sellers too. Great times! I miss them both.
My dad and I loved watching the Pink Panther movies too. I lost him over two years ago and I miss him terribly. I'm sorry for your loss

Me too with my dad 🤩 we loved the Kato and cluso fight scenes
Yes I watched this with my late Dad over and over again. Dad and I would stream with laughter in our eyes. God bless Dad. He died in 2013 of cancer 😔
I'm so sorry.
2017 to stroke, rip dad
This scene never fails me. When I feel down I just open it and it cracks me up. The parrot's feet on his shoulders...
As a Swede this is hilarious to hear..."Hardiblördihiidöö"...this and the martial arts assault by Kato in his apatrment are my favourite scenes.
what does that mean?
Nobody was funnier than Peter Sellers. You cannot watch this without cracking up.
Laughed hysterically at this scene when I was a kid, and still laugh hysterically at it as an old coot.
Pumping air into the deflating rubber bird while scolding it in his phony Swedish! "Ferden oppen, all fladen ordern birden!"
I am from Sweden! This is beyond amazing!🤣😅
What was he saying?
@@13thvarebel16 ...just gibberish, not real Swedish, much like the Swedish chef in the Muppet shop, hurdy burdy, bork bork bork
Alter Schwede!
@@13thvarebel16😂 He doesn’t say a word of real Swedish. Just gibberish in some kind of a "Swedish accent".

Guy Gadbois was irresistible!
@bojinda994 Monsieur Guy Gadbois...was very fussy about the Monsieur, apparently
Favorite was 'Quasimodo'...
Catherine was near to choking on laughter (or her cocktail) because Peter was ad-libbing 😏
Timeless laughter 😂🤣
Truly one of the greatest scenes in the history of cinema.

A Brit, playing a Frenchman, pretending to be a salty Sveeeeedish seadog.... Peter Sellers was a genius.
"...put the air in the parrotin....".... and "completely under zee cover, nobody should suspect such a ting". "....thar she blows...' Laughing so hard it is difficult to type....ha
Thar blows

Aw, you cut off the part when he hobbled away, reciting the sea shanty all wrong, then the sound of him falling into the drink! Hilarious! 😄
Shucks
Great music by Mancini, too.
Pink panther, you don't require drugs to laugh
They don't make funny movies like this anymore, love it

I'm swedish and this is hilarious😂😂😂
Peter Seller's best!
One of my fathers favorite movie scenes. 😂

0:10 - Alfie Bass of "Are You Being Served" fame...
Awesome
Only disliked because Movieclips cut off the scene finale when he falls off the pier! They always pull this crap with their clips. I love the Pink Panther movies and this whole COMPLETE scene was one of my favorites in the series!
And the award goes to ...... The dog!
too short!
Naughty birden, afraid of the feog
Gold
Indeed.
Pumpen de Airen in de Birden.
It sounds more like German than Swedish. 😂
Looks like Gordita Bay.
When he's peg leg gets stuck in the board and gets it out i thought it turned into a broom.
Who recognizes “Mr Goldberg” from Are You Being Served? His real name was Alfie Bass
THERE SHE BLOOOOOWS
... ni fløn of the flørne høn
As he is a salty Swedish sea dog it has to be "ni flön of the flörne hön" with Swedish ö. ;)
❤
Kliena longing bedoul mega peging.

Never saw this.
Hello out there in de fog
Theatre
Swedes used to be a European central world power, you know. Back in the old days. I imagine it was better than this.
