The spark is re-lit in full! The forest is burning down again!
Okay, perhaps that little short description was a bit much, but holy FUCK this song was so much fun! I really wanted to lean into how many lead tracks I have, so for this one I practically filled up all six of the main ones. There are so many layers going on here! Not to mention, finally doing more Pokemon music! Hopefully my Pokemon Covers playlist will start getting a little more filled out. As I've said, I'm becoming a full-on Pokemon fan, and the further I dig into Pokemon, the more AMAZING music there is!
I honestly think the best days of Pokemon music were the GBA/DS days. There's just a kind of... charm that I don't get out of the games from before and after about 2003-2010. We can't talk about these days without talking about Goldenrod Game Corner, which I want to do at some point, but it's probably going to be a really special project... might be a while though. But out of all the soundtracks, mainly for the soundfont, I think HG/SS is my favourite. There's something oddly nostalgic about it, even though I didn't grow up on these games.
Nothing really to talk about regarding the mix. I'm working with a new template next week, which will hopefully streamline things a lot more, and I want to redo all my mixing in general. There are a lot of layers in this cover, but I think I'm starting to get a handle on how all my sounds should blend together... that said, I'm considering going back to Superior Drummer at some point. Not sure when though.
By the way, don't play finger picked bass while you have a skin lesion on your picking hand... worst decision EVER!
Next week, an oldie but a goodie! One I really should have given its own cover to A LONG time ago!
