- Learn how to change a diaper step by step. In this video, Jason goes over changing a baby's diaper so you can be an expert in no time. While some parents have changing stations, this video shows you how to change a diaper just about anywhere.
If you have a newborn baby, changing the diaper is quite easy as the baby won't move much. Remember that changing a nappy is a time to bond with the baby. Think of diaper changing as a positive experience that gives you one on one time with your child.
You will want to make sure you have your diapers and wipes ready. The last thing you want to do is have an open dirty diaper and realize that your diapers and wipes are in the other room. Jason provides some additional insight and expert tips that he learned to improve efficiency in changing diapers.

Luv it
It definitely helps my son was born 3 days ago and I want to make sure I get this right with no problem the next time I change his diaper lol
Thanks bud, I’ve watched a few of your vids now and really helpful… baby coming in jan!
Hey Jason, would you consider doing a video on making bath time less painful and more efficient? We feel like we are doing okay in it but there is DEFINITELY room for improvement.
What is the specific issue? What isn't going as you thought?
Doctors told us that my wife will give birth at 26 weeks due to several complications, and told us the survival chance is low and even if he survives, such extreme pre-mature births can come with physical and mental disabilities. My wife opted for 2 very painful operations to try and keep the baby for as long as possible. After several months of an extremely difficult pregnancy, my son was born at 39 weeks. Both my son and my wife are healthy. I promised her that after everything she went through, I will change the diapers for as long as my son will wear diapers. So here I am, watching and learning from your videos. Thank you.
It sounds like you’ll be a great father! ❤️
That's the least you can do. Good on you for recognizing your responsibility and opportunity to bond with your baby.
Your a great man
its amazing they were able to keep him for longer. :)
Good dad right here 👍
I just wanted to remind you that you are making a big difference for a lot of a lot of us future dad's. Thank you.
We are happy that you enjoy the videos. We will continue to make them as long as people keep watching!
@@DadUniversity Thank you Sir. First time Dad here as well. Learning so much with all your videos! Stay safe. :)
Eddy Santos congratulations.
not only fathers also 15 yr old girl like me lol
@@DadUniversity what were the brand of diapers used in the video
I love how you often remind the viewer of having a positive mindset and remembering that this is a bonding opportunity
Absolutely. And this works in every other aspect of life too. When you have a negative mindset attached to things, it makes it hard to do things.
My wife is pregnant so I'll be a dad soon. I'm super nervous and excited. Thanks for sharing these videos, they are going to help.
martin096 good luck when the time comes!
It’s been two years ! How’s the kid going
@@meronyemane8645 hey there, what a roller coaster of a journey it has been. She didn't meet anyone for the first 4 months of her life because of lock down and my wife's step dad had a stoke a month after that but we've been getting through it. I absolutely love her to pieces thanks for asking. She is definitely turning into a cheeky little monkey. The 2 years hasn't quite gone how we planned but I'm focusing on just our family and trying not to think too much about what's been going on around the world. How are you? Have you got any children?
@@martin096 yeah a little girl, my wife passed away due to terminal cancer recently and It’s just been the two of us.Unfortunately, I travelled a lot for work and didn’t do much of the diaper changing so I’m learning.
@@meronyemane8645 omg why am I complaining, really sorry to hear that dude. How are you and your daughter holding up? How old is she ? Hope your keeping well 😔
I’m a nanny and I’ve fully watched all of these videos 😭😭😭 they’re really helpful- I’m also an 18 year old girl so I mean, I’m dad now
literally. i have an interview for a nanny job today and idek how to change a diaper so. here i am
@@devynb7262 how was the interview
Me 🤣🤣
Lmao I’m 14 and I’m babysitting tmrw and I definitely forget how to change one
my baby is now 6 months old, and this video saved my life. ı was using the pampers newborn diapers, they are very easy to use and seems comfy. Now ım using another brand but for the first months those diapers are super convenient.

My wife's 14 weeks pregnant. The most valuable tip here was 'have fun doing it, it's not a chore' - Cheers, mate!
Every dad should be involved in the process! It is definitely a bonding opportunity. 👍
Two other tips I'll add that I've learned.
1. As you're pulling the old diaper down, use it to clean away the bulk of poop. This helps to reduce the amount of wipeys youll need
2. For newborns with the umbilical stump, fold the diaper towards the baby. This does a better job of catching any pee (especially for boys)
This video was extremely helpful. I am no stranger to changing a diaper since I have helped take care of my friends babies, as well as I used to babysit when I was younger. My wife and I are expecting, I personally just found out that she is about 2 and a half weeks along. So this video is a great refresher for me since I haven't touched a diaper in almost 14 years haha.
I’m about to have my first babysitting gig with a ten month old so yeah this was helpful 👍
I am a future Dad and my wife and I are expecting our first baby in about a month. I just wanted to thank you and let you know you have alleviated a lot of anxiety for me! 🙏
Congrats. Welcome to the community!
Just a 17yr old girl who hasn’t changed diapers since she was 7. Lol.
My aunt and uncle asked me to babysit for them ( a 4yr old and 8 month old) and I needed a refresh on how to make bottles, change diapers, burp, etc. Thank you for the help!
my mom works night shifts, so she doesn't sleep, like at all. i told her id take care of my baby siblings and let her sleep and one of them just dirtied their diaper bro😭 ur a lifesaver
Sounds like you're a good son, I'm sure she's grateful even if she doesn't say it :)
The only thing that’s missing here is the aspect of the baby freaking out the whole time and using all their limbs to flail about and make experience 10 times harder than it needs to be. 😭
Had to watch my godson last minute due to an emergency. My wife’s at work and I’m all alone with the little guy and this video cam in clutch lol. What a life saver, thanks for the breakdown!
I just became a dad this morning and your videos have been awesome. I’ve been subscribed for a while now but I swear I forgot everything as soon as I met my son 😅 I just changed his first diaper and I’ve never been so in love. Thank you for helping me!
Congrats, that is exciting and so wonderful to hear! You will be awesome. Glad to be there for your journey.
If there are any specific topics you would like us to cover, let me know.
What a great video. You’re totally right! It’s all mindset 😎🤙🏽
Just became a grandfather for twin granddaughters. Wife is babysitting twins and today my wife had a Dr's appointment and left me with twins. Never changed a diaper and your video helped. I did it 90% right. Baby(4months) was looking at me like I did not know what I was doing..lol
You took your hand off the baby at the 2:42 mark!!!!! :P
Thanks for the tips! Excited to be a dad in 3 weeks! Hopefully, if I take your advice, I'll be as buff as you soon!
Thanks for the positive spin. I’m gonna be a dad soon and I was really nervous about this aspect of parenting. While I’m not excited about changing diapers, I can see how viewing them as a bonding opportunity can really change my perspective.
Most of our attitude is how we view things. We can't often change the world around us but we can change how we think about it.
Wife gave birth today to a beautiful baby girl, thanks for this !
🥳 CONGRATULATIONS 🍾🎈
Congratulations
I'm 31 believe it or not, lol & I've known someone for almost 2 yrs, his name is Chris. I'm wanting to get married & have kids w him soon. He's 35 & has a teenage daughter now I'm sure he's changed plenty of diapers. Thank You for teaching me.
I’m starting babysitting tomorrow and this was really helpful thanks!!
Talking with baby while changing diaper is very helpful, and if your baby have gas in stomach this is good time to gently move your baby legs like cycling for eject air. Thanks dad's university, love from Spain 🇪🇸 ❤
The last tip at the end of the video is a great one. I took that tip at the heart because as a working father I have limited time to spend with my son so I am trying to sieze every moment with him. Let it be diaper change or reading to him whatever. I think all a child wants from his/her parents is to spend time with him/her and show affection. Great videos, keep up the much appreciated good work. Greeting from Turkey 🇹🇷.
I'm working as a child care assistant and forgot the basics of changing a diaper (I know, I know, it's important for me to understand this) and this video helped me remind myself of the basics so thanks for that, chief! 😅
This guy's like a lawful good version of Ryan Reynolds. Random commentary aside, I'm really liking the video, good energy, straight to the point, I'm looking forward on learning more from this channel.
Been babysitting my brother’s kid since I turned 18, I got sick of the smell. Thank you very much for helping me rid this smell from my life.
I need this video because I have been babysitting my baby cousin and I need to learn how to change a baby’s diaper
Hi.. I see a lot of dads commenting. But, I’m a mother:) my baby will be born on June 30th and I know it’s early, but still. I tried chasing my cousins diaper once and failed miserably. You actually taught me sum extra things I did not think about. Thanks✨
My father, in the 1970's, was made a Master of Changing Dipers only because my mother caught food poisoning on the first day home from hospital. So he had to learn - and found that he really loved it. We lived multi-generational, and since he was at hand so much... Well, why steal his thunder - especially if it stinks.
When my father turned 90 we surprised him with this fact:
"Dad, so far in life you have changed 10 000 dipers. Others may see the stink, but we see the love."
Dad, you're fkn amazing.
And guys... Nobody is an expert from start. It takes practice. Your baby won't get pneumonia because you missed a spot.

first time aunt who’s never had a baby in my family to change… this is helping my anxiety. thank you!!!
Thank you! I babysit and this video taught me how to change a diaper for the very first time!!
Im 13 and im a babysitter so i needed this video🙏
Thank you for these videos. I am way overdue for getting my changing technique dialed in (wife is due in 10 days) but I've been busy with some home renovations so I appreciate the cheat sheets content.
Also, I am very glad the "I never changed a diaper" guy is becoming less and less common. They still exist, but It seems like men are stepping up much more so than even 10 or 15 years ago.
We’re expecting our first in less than a week. I’ve been binging your videos for the last 6 months. You are a godsend and I love the positivity and love you show in every video. Keep it up!!
Glad you enjoy the videos! Thank you for being part of our community.
Comments section is so wholesome 🥺 I’m a nurse new to pediatric care and made a whole mess changing diapers on my first shift- will try this!
I like the step of wiping off the baby's hands. I never thought of that, but it makes sense. Thank you.
I need to learn to change my niece right now and for when i have a kid in the future
Thanks, this was really helpful. I’m gonna be working as a nanny to a kid than not potty trained, so I came here to make sure I knew what to do. I hope I do well, it doesn’t look that difficult tbh
Literally in the delivery suite awaiting the birth of my daughter. Thanks for this helpful video and I’ll keep in mind front to back!
And instantly subscribed. I want to be a stay at home Dad so this channel is going to be a goldmine for me.
I love the part where you encourage a positive mindset with changing the diapers. That's healthy and wholesome.
Glad you enjoy the videos...and thanks for subscribing!
My wife is a couple cm dilated right now! Waiting in the hospital and pulled up baby tip videos! Thanks!!!
Thanks this is super helpful. About to have a baby a had no idea how to do this properly.
This is great. We are due a baby boy in November. I’ve changed diapers for me nephew and nieces but it’s been a minute. This is so helpful
I’m going to be working in a nursery soon and this video helped me so much! I have no kids of my own and I’m the youngest in my family. You helped relieve my anxiety, tysm!
My son will be born in a little over a month and changing the diaper is my biggest worry because I’ve never handled a baby before. I hope to take your advice and make it an enjoyable experience
I really appreciate these videos, especially from a Dad. My first child is due in less than 5 weeks, and these videos are incredibly reassuring. Thank you.
About to have my first baby, This is gold !!!
First born (son) coming due date September 9th.. you definitely helped me feel a little more at ease trying to get ready for fatherhood!!
Ayyy that was my due date but mine came early! Congrats
salmonflavored congrats to you 💪🏾🙏🏾 I’m still waiting on him now, my girl has a doctor appointment today to check her dilation again so hopefully he’s coming soon 🙏🏾
Thank you so much for all your video's. It has helped me so much.
Baby #1 due any day now!! Thanks for the video!
Congrats! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Congrats! I recommend asking the nurses a ton of questions and maybe having them shadow you while you change a diaper or swaddle your baby. Also ask them to show you how to burp them.
Just had a little baby girl. This video was super helpful.
I just had my first born baby. He's six weeks old today. Hus mom and I arent together but we're making this coparent thing work. I've veen visiring him at his mom as often as I can. Tomorrow he's coming over to my place for tge first time and I'm going to spend the day with him. I am nervous and excited😂. This video is such a guge help. Thank you so much
Thanks buddy, we have a 3 week old and I'm glad you spoke of those who never experienced diaper changing. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. I agree it's a bonding experience and I jumped in at day 1!! Wouldn't change anything.
First baby on the way in early October. Thanks for the help and keep up the great work!
Just had my first child. Thanks for these videos.
Hey would be helpful if you showed how to use the diaper cream
New dad here. A lot of good tips. Thanks a lot!
First time watching it but for some reason? I FEEL connected to this Dad's labor intensive work for my future baby. ⚡⚡♥️
Thank you so much for this! I’m starting work at a child care center tomorrow and I’ve never touched a diaper before.
I've been looking for books on this, just everything basic about a baby, but you made it so easy! Thank you!
Good tip with the ready diaper under the used one.
Thanks. It really made things easier for me.
My wife just gave birth to our first child. We found this video helpful. Thank you!
Couple more weeks and I’ll be doing this as a first time Dad with my wife! Nervous but excited too!!
this was so helpful! I am in my second trimester. this is easing my questions and fears!
I'm gonna take the early learning and childcare and I'm preparing myself for it.
Just about to have our first baby in a month or two - this was very useful! One thing that was missing though - *where* to apply the diaper cream! I had to look it up elsewhere (it goes on the butt and anywhere else there's irritation* and it may sound simple but, for someone who has literally never done this task before, it's an important step!
Unc here, this video just helped me a lot I was very comfortable changing my nephew’s diaper. This video was very clear and great details. Thanks so much man I was nervous at first lol.
Great tips! Baby coming in the next week, good luck out there current and future fathers.
Congrats!
So helpful wife just had a baby three days ago. I needed this
Thanks for the video! We just had our first baby this week and the first couple of changes can be scary for some reason. You’re very informative and the positivity is very reassuring!
My wife is 38 weeks pregnant. I’ll be a first time dad. Mostly excited and just a tiny bit nervous. Thanks for the videos!
Im about to be a dad so definitely nice to know some extra tips to help my baby be happier. Thank you (:
man im gonna have my first in march so im super excited and super terrified but im sure thats a lot of forst dads
I am so glad with your videos. My partner and I are having a baby in about 5 and a half weeks. This will be amazing for him so he can prepare too and not feel like everything is aimed at the moms 🙂
Gonna be a new dad to a baby boy and I can say these videos are helping me a lot with getting prepared. Thank you so much!
Was worried about this! Thank you so much Dad University
I was really worried for my first child. After you change a couple, it's no big deal. Keep watching videos like this and you're gonna be awesome👍
About to have my first little girl. Your videos have definitely helped me prepare
Waiting on my first born
Congrats!
This video was very helpful , I’m about to start working with infants at a daycare and have no kids of my own 😭 wish me luck
Thanks for the video! And if you are out of wipes I recommend these steps: 1.Take your Baby to the bathroom, hold her above the tub and remove the diaper. 2. Wash her bottom, make sure the water is nice and warm. Dry the baby with a towel. 3. Take the baby to a changing station, put her on an absorbent pad. Apply diaper cream. Then put on a clean diaper.
My brother just told me he and his gf are having a baby so I want to be very helpful so these are awesome ❤️ Thanks you (I’m also 14) 😂
Lesson learned: make sure the baby finishes going number 2 before you start removing the diaper.. if he's not done...oh boy!!!
Just found this channel! I have my baby in less then one month! Thank you
I’m having a baby daughter today which brought me to your channel! I subscribed with alerts so I look forward to all your weekly advice and tips 😄
Thank you so much for this. So grateful for the resources we have and for people like you who put out great info. I’m having my first child soon and I’m so excited. I know it will be tough but videos like these help me feel more prepared. Thanks 🙏🏽
Tip: for the umbilical cord, fold the diaper INSIDE before attaching the tabs.
Now for my question. New dad here of a 1 week old girl. Where does the diaper cream go? Right up the crack?
We haven't needed it yet but I want to be prepared.
Baby Peters coming in 2 months! I’m sure I’m nervous and excited just like all new dads. Thanks for the video! 🙏
Watching this in the delivery room. Cramming before the test.
Great advice! Tip #1 is key, especially with a baby boy. Having everything ready to go helps you be prepared to deal with mid-diaper change peeing!
Yes, unfortunately learned from experience on this one. Baby wipes in the other room while a huge dirty diaper is open in front of you is not fun!!
@@DadUniversity same! Just having to open a new pack of wipes with an open diaper in front of you is just enough time for bad things to happen, lol!
This is crazy !!!! I had just told my wife I had to learn this today. Thank you ! It was part of my "baby readiness" checklist.
It's awesome you have a checklist. Curious what else is on the list :)
Having my first child in a few weeks. Here I am learning how to change a diaper. 😂
thanks so much for this video ! in about to be an auntie, and it’s already decided that i’m going to be babysitting my nephew the most haha !!
Hey there!
Very valid points, thank you for the great video. Something that i was researching previously before this video was to not lift the baby by the legs since it could leave to discomfort in the abdominal area and spine as well. There are videos by chiropractics available which shows how to turn the baby in other to change the diaper safely.
While I don't want children myself, I know my friends will have them and I wanna be a helpful aunt to their children ^^ Very good video! Specially the "have a hand on the baby at all times". That's something my mum used to say too :)
Thank you! been learning on your videos, I just became a dad hours ago☺️
God bless this man and his youtube channel
