I didn't know this until I started watching Chuggaaconroy, but most of the team that made the Mother/Earthbound series went on to make Pokemon. Having Lucas team up with Red in the story mode felt like bringing a narrative full circle and a very sentimental easter egg honoring the past and future of those developers. I just love it.
Brawl is definitely one of my most favourites, one of the reasons I got it was for the story mode which me and my little brother played through and we had a blast, love those Cuteness so much. 💫
A lot of people seem to have a very basic misunderstanding about Nintendo as a company. While Sony and Microsoft are tech companies, Nintendo is a toy company. They go into delevoping a console with a completely different set of priorities. Nintendo has always done there own thing. The only difference is that Nintendo's competitors used to play by their rules, but now they don't and the goals of Nintendo and it's current competitors couldn't be any less different.
While Smash for Wii U was the first Smash game I owned, Brawl was the first one I played. (I love Meta Knight as a character, but I could never master his brokenness, nor could I overcome it.) I consider it my start on getting interested in Nintendo history, where Smash 4 became where I committed myself to learning more.
Brawl is a fantastic game. The only problems with it are competitive ones. As a casual romp with friends? Yeah this shit was god tier especially way back when on the Wii. The music alone did it for me, but the roster was a good size without going absolutely overboard like Ultimate. In terms of ordering a pizza and smoking a bowl with friends who aren't all that great at fighters? Gonna go for Brawl. If I wanna get sweaty and practice actual tech? I'll stick with Slippi Melee for online matchmaking with rollback netcode. Best of both worlds.
I like to tell everyone one that snake was in smash bros before brawl. He was in a game where you fight bomber man, Optimus prime, Japanese Barbie and Hugo from bloody roar. And it great!
Every now and then, I play all the Subspace cutscenes when I’m indulging in my hobbies. They were, are, and forever great. My one issue is that Sonic shows up last minute and out of nowhere and defeats Tabuu effortlessly, and the main argument I hear whenever I bring this up is people saying “Oh well Nintendo wanted to make sure a third-party newcomer got some limelight in that cutscene.” Okay, then would people still love it if Sonic was replaced with Snake in that scenario? If anything, I think it was budgetary focused since CGI is pretty expensive to produce. And this isn’t to say Sonic shouldn’t have been involved in this; I just think he should’ve gotten turned to a trophy like everyone else, gets revived - likely by Kirby, and then EVERYONE gets an opportunity to take on Tabuu in a cutscene. I mean, Tabuu died by Sonic just aiming one spin dash on each of his wings, when I feel the dude should’ve been more defensive.
Maining Sonic, and actually getting into the Sonic games, started with Brawl. Ganon has always been a fun bus with monster truck wheels, he only became my favorite Zelda character cause he's so strong
Yo you guys watching his Smash reviews now!!! AWESOME!!! He just did a remake of his original Gamecube review. An hour long, but a great and nostalgic retrospective; definitely watch it when you get the chance!
I think the reason why Nintendo has struggled so much with online play over the years can actually be explained by looking at some of Nintendo's biggest franchises. Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Fire Emblem... For the most part, these game series' are basically exclusively single player experiences. Mario didn't really become a multiplayer experience until New Super Mario Bros wii. Nintendo's multiplayer games meanwhile, like Mario Kart, seem to work just fine even with Nintendo's janky online as far as I can tell. I don't think Nintendo was quick to embrace online and try to make it the best it could be simply because they had very little reason to. If I recall, Sakurai basically admitted that Brawl's online capabilities were ultimately added as an after thought, despite Iwata's desire to have it as the main way of showing off the wii's wifi capabilities. Doesn't necessarily excuse Nintendo for them being so slow to make online better since they have one big franchise that absolutely could use better online, but it is what it is.
This was the first Smash Bros game I ever played. I wasn't good at all, but I had lots of fun with it, and it introduced me to so many other franchises

Subspace Emissary is still one of THE best additions to ever grace the series. I know it's not perfect, but it never had to be. Brawl is my favorite Smash game, and I ain't changing that fact.

I would say the original. Sm4sh was great competitively (until dlc) and it was great casually. The original felt good back then but compared to the other games, it just feels worse.
Every smash game with an adventure mode has pros and cons compared to each other. Melee had creative levels with good use of different properties, but nothing else. Brawl had excellent cutscenes, but the gameplay was monotonous. Smash 4 had a slew of good ideas, but none of them were fully fleshed out. Ultimate had the best gameplay loop of going around the map and doing spirit battles, but it got repetitive with nothing to interrupt the flow.
The only reason why Nintendo is against the whole Bluetooth online thing is because Japan culture doesn’t exactly have the same mindset of technology development in video gaming and other technologies due to there culture being obsessed with nature and society being at peace with nature Al Shintoism doesn’t really have the mindset of instant technology development and abandon the past tech forever.
i heavily disagree about the wii sports boxing it did work its just that ou were trying to throw some dumb punch that didn't make sense for the motion do it slow and you will see what I'mtalking about.

SSB Brawl was my childhood. I refuse to be told it wasn't good.

Brawl was actually my first smash game and I remember playing it with my dad and brother. Our dad would destroy us and he loved to play Snake.

Nate but adventure mode is the story. It's about the struggles and pain we had along the way, we make the story.
Personally i had my fair share of fun and have good memories with Brawl, but now that we have 4 and Ultimate i will never go back to Brawl.
