The “Worst Ever” series is a pretty good and informative series, but I highly recommend watching the “Just Bad Games” series. That series is Rerez’s comedic peak.
I also like their new project with playing odd old games starting with that bad comedian game they played recently where they experience it blind rather than a full review.
This is my favorite Rerez video. The entire story of the Ouya's failure is another example of giving Kickstarter money to people who have no idea what they're doing (like Spider-Man Lotus).
Their mistake was not marketing it in Asia. People in India, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines and the Middle East would love to play games like Mobile Legends and PUBG Mobile on the TV.
Shane has taught me more about Canadian TV than I ever thought I'd learn. Also, their Worst Racing Games review is gonna be great to see you guys cover.
The GameCube is not seen as 'the most integral, important console ever' because of its design. It's popular because of nostalgia, the exclusive games, unique controller and because it sold poorly, leading to the collectors market grabbing hold of it, boosting attention to it. (Also, aided by the Nintendo retro RUclipsrs.) Due to having sold poorly, it became one of those things a lot of people passed on, and want to go back to see what they missed, due to the collectors and nostalgia driven praise putting a spotlight on it. The N64's design doesn't matter. Everyone looks back on the things they grew up with fondly. The appearance of a console is important(hence one of the reasons why the GameCube flopped), but it's not that important. Games + nostalgia + Collectability are what make old consoles desirable.
I hate to admit that I had an Ouya. I had trouble connecting it to the WiFi constantly and only managed to download 1 game for it. Eventually, I got fed up with it and got rid of it.
Regarding the pr presentation, taking the console out of a paper bag would make for a solid punchline to a bit. Like, they bring out the display case and the briefcase, and they're both empty, then the guy in charge of that comes out and is like "Ouya, I have it right here" pulls it out of his lunchbag. And his mouth is full.
Really grinds my gear when she packed an early version of Ouya console inside of an used paper bags. That felt like you're pitching an idea for a show with a sweaty tanktop and ripped pants.
Her just pulling that console out at the conference from a paper bag, kind of reminds me of Steve Jobs pulling the MacBook Air out of a Manila envelope, but completely missing the point, which really just goes for the entire console
I really really really do want you guys to react to Rerez's "Just Bad Games" series, but...since you mentioned The Stadia....Rerez covered that too in The Worst Ever series...three times...Yep, it's a three parter of torture!
Fun thing the ouya is where The Amazing Frog? Started and look at where that game is now. Also please check out more of Rerez's "The Worst ever" and "Just bad games" series please.
Other than Rerez I still enjoy watching AVGN, The Gamechasers & My Retro Life every so often. I remember when the OUYA was announced I was interested in getting one, then I heard the reviews and soon changed my mind.
In a bit of a tangent, there are always "good moments" and "bad moments" in pretty much every time period or generation. The thing is as good features are updated so are the bad ones.
"Your game only gets in if it has a free demo" would be a massive win for Ouya because remember how many people used to have fun JUST from playing their huge collection of free demos? Even if the majority of the games weren't as good, the players would still buy a cheap console which keeps giving out free demos regardless of the quality of the demos
I still have Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath on my Ouya now. I completed the game on it, too. To be honest I can deal with much lower quality than real gamers want to put up with, but in order to get the frame rate to max, it was really the resolution holding it back. Every setting besides resolution affected the game's frame rate about 5% as much. You could set everything else to max, and just set resolution to 2/10 and it would be smooth as butter. And if you entered a large canyon or a hugely populated city with lots of moving assets and got a slight frame drop, setting it to 1 or level 0 would still fix it up. But running Stranger's Wrath at 2/10 and below? It looked like a PlayStation 1 game. I could tolerate it myself, but I also have the intuition to know that plenty of people would just go buy an original Xbox to play the game than deal with that nonsense. Sure, you can pull the game off the Ouya Discover store now and play it on any modern Android smartphone now with zero issues (except controller compatibility maybe, that's tricky), but back in 2014, that option was pretty limited unless you had a phone that was high end premium for the time. The Samsung Galaxy S2 wouldn't have fared much better than the Ouya. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 could maybe do it okay. The Nvidia Shield, released later that year, played it like a charm. Little to no problems, especially if the card storage was free and the system could run a bit faster. Game stuttering even a tiny bit? Switch to 720p mode and it's all fixed. But did gamers want to get a tablet that was at least twice the price of the Ouya to play this title? Did they want to lower their quality expectations to get a fluid experience? Did you want to buy a game that did horribly on over half the devices on the market at that time when the original flawless release had gone out almost a decade prior? Ou-yah!!! ...I mean, no.
19:58 its just a shitshoow of exploititive tactics aimed at well understood human weaknesses to gambling and additction and fanboy mentality, iv tried to say dont spend money, dont invest in star citizen and entire comunities of channels dedicated to mindlessly and eternaly supporting the game have tried shouting me down, its the comunities choise they say, the devs arint forcing anyone to spend money, the comunitiy wants this they say... what can you say to that but... enjoy being road like a county pig by the devs i guess.... if thats your thing thats your thing... and on the topic of no mans sky i game that yes stumbled massivly at the start but has made up ten fold for it... the sad reality is what jim stirling said was true... you only get one first impression and thats everything for a lot of people, even knowing the history of the devs and developing the game even knowing how far the games come, iv personaly heard people, some big names on youtube in the gaming scenes flatly and without care say, they ripped people off... i dont really care if theyre a little better now... and really that sucks both the people missing out on a now great game, and it sucks for the devs missing that support.
Okay I just gotta say this about the Renegades when they brought up presentation in this video....How is it that MANY videos are making YOU pause them and then rant for 20-30 minutes?! For crying out loud, the video you're reacting to is only over 36 minutes and your reaction video is ALMOST AN HOUR AND A HALF!....That is F**KING RIDICULOUS!...I mean, this is a literal example of the pot calling the kettle black

I love their video on Spider-Man: The Sinister Six.
Spider-Man the Sinister Six is probably favorite of theirs.

Nah, not at all, the worst ever consoles are way beyond any of the just bad eps, the duo of him and the other guy is barely passable and mostly cringe
This is my favorite Rerez video. The entire story of the Ouya's failure is another example of giving Kickstarter money to people who have no idea what they're doing (like Spider-Man Lotus).
My favorite Rerez videos were the ones where he went over Google Stadia
Wow they really should've had you as their PR because your ideas were SO MUCH BETTER
Also Just Rain is actually an android app to help with sleep and meditation and stuff. Why it was ported to Ouya though I have no clue
Their mistake was not marketing it in Asia. People in India, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines and the Middle East would love to play games like Mobile Legends and PUBG Mobile on the TV.
Omg we are doing caddicarus AND NOW REREZ?!?!?!
My life is complete
A Rerez review!? Holy crap!
Can’t wait for more!
@@beatziegraham6928 they for sure will
Nice to see you guys start covering this channel!
They already made a video where they reavt about the Hyper Scan.

I’ve never heard of the Ouya until this video. 😂
To be fair, that discount GameCube fizzled out faster than it was advertised. I only heard about it from RUclipsrs years ago.

Oooh more Rerez reaction? Yes please, Rerez is great.
I hope you guys also react to his Stadia and Soulja Boy Console series. 😂
Rerez did three videos on the "rise" and fall of the Stadia if you guys ever get the time
