It is a shame what happend. I like Truman very much, but Henry Wallace would have been much more progressive. Maybe no Korean war, No dropping of Atomic Bombs. Truman did desegregate the military and was vilified for it and did many other good things like the Marshall plan. We can only imagine.
Agreed. I just watched episode 3 of the untold history of the united states and wow. Chilling stuff. Now I see Truman as the worst president ever and what might have been if this man had been VP. So much death and hardship could have been avoided. Plus he wasn't a racist bastard like those Truman and those who pulled his strings. Depressing stuff really but I'll probably keep watching the series anyways and become more perturbed by it. But it is history and should be known.
Henry A Wallace was probably one of the most progressive and liberal politicians ever. He wanted equal pay for men and women in 1948. Wanted Civil rights in 1948. He was the initial candidate for the 1948 presidential election until the backroom deals denied him of his opportunity. His thinking was so progressive, was about 20 years ahead of time in civil rights. He was about 60 years ahead of his time when it came to equal pay for men and women. He has been largely air brushed out of American political history. I only found out about he through Oliver Stones American History documentaries.
+KATHERINE SPARKES He reminds me of another progressive politician running for president. Hated by the establishment, champion of civil rights and friend to the people. Let's hope history does not repeat itself.
Bernie Sanders - a 21st century Henry Wallace. Here's hoping that he won't be cast aside like what happened to Wallace, and that his movement will really shape the future of America, as well as the world, for the better.
Don't let the propaganda machine successfully erase Wallace from history. Share this with your friends and family. Thanks for uploading, Cinema Insiders!
Here is perhaps the greatest American's speech "that you never heard." Why? Because our public education has been no less propaganda than the decried Soviet propaganda. We have been hoodwinked my friends.
It’s not a great speech and if you had a deep understanding of Soviet history and all its murder, pain, and suffering it cause, you would find Wallace to be a fool, a stooge for the Soviets.
@@waywardgeologist2520 I understand greatly the atrocities of Soviet rule. While Wallace was indeed a little bit naive when it came to his views on the Soviet Union, it doesn't erase his almost universally being greatly ahead of his time on the real important issues. I mean, being realistic, it's not like anything a president did short of unconstitutional foreign interference could have prevented the rise of Stalin.
@@YoussefShareef And, to add to what you just said, as far as I understand, he later realised he was wrong with regard to the Soviet Union. That does not make him a lesser man. Nobody is perfect.

Im a freaking nerd and i have a few minor issues with Stones series but the fact he brought Wallace to the forefront is incalculably important. Progressives now must look back to the people who got us here. Thanks to the original poster
I very much like Henry Wallace. He is one of the greatest and best politicians in America and the world. His speech about the Century of the Common man is one of the best and most important ideas of the 20th century . It is also good as a speech Martin Luther king's "I Have a dream...". And I hope that we will change Putin, choose Grudinin and will build the Century of the Common man that Henry Wallace and Roerich dreamed of.
Can we just give it up for how exquisitely beautiful and well-timed the background music is? There is some awesome sophistication and zeal for craftsmanship in this.

If Truman was never selected as vice president, we would have never dropped the bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, nor entered a cold war nuclear proliferation
His vp glen taylor was a great man with a strong sense of what was right...If your library has the book "the way it was to me" by glen taylor it is worth reading... It should be and must be the century of the common man... I saw The untold story series, 3 episodes a day, and it was amazing. A lot of the things it mentioned I already had a hunch were true, so it just reinforced those beliefs I had. But there was so much more I didn't know as well. The CIA cointelpro program? The opportunity of a better relationship with the Soviet Union after WWII that could have avoided all of the fear of a nuclear attack. The fact that the Allies even stood a chance against hitler in WWII thanks to Russia, who made the bigger sacrifices. History books make it seem that the entrance of the United States ensured victory, but if it wasen't for the Soviets fedning off the Germans, the United States would have also have had its ass handed to it had Germany conquered the Soviet Union. They would have had resources in abundance to fuel their war efforts. The Normandy invasion was actaully pretty quiet in comparison to how heated the fighting was on the other front. So the U.S basically came in through the back door. I think I would have more respect for a country that acknowledges the bigger sacrifices made by other countries instead of hyping it's own, lesser accomplishments, that yea contributed to victory, but on a smaller scale.
America and the World needs a Progressive US President like former Vice President Henry A. Wallace to Fight and Defeat Right-Wing Populist Nationalist Demagogues like Donald J. Trump
The Bernie of 1940s America. We may never get the chance to see another man like him or Bernie for a long time, or ever with the way the US is heading.
Henry Wallace was WAY more revolutionary than Bernie. Every time Bernie has a chance to flex his political muscle and push for something with the backing of the massive movement his campaign built, every chance he had he bent the knee to the Democratic Party. Thankfully the Bernie Sanders movement has taken on a life of its own, as it looks like he’s just going to continue to spit on his base and become more regressive when it comes to challenging US imperialism.
It's a damn shame they replaced him as VP. Everything might've turned out differently. Everything.
