I know this didn't talk about the other want (원), but I wanted to share this sentence: 저는 뭘 쓰기를 원해요 The way I've come to understand this sentence is that it has an object within an object. I am still blown away that the grammar supports nested objects. It is also cool about the 3rd person rule, that is probably more of a critical thinking rule, so I probably would not want to assume what others want in the English language too.
I Have no base or reference at all.. but not more than 5 years stay experience in Korea..when I use 을래요 in question form or other thing i have a feeling like .. asking someone's choice or preference and when i answer with 을래요 i prefer that thing or doing that thing than the other one ..but my knowledge about Korean is 많이 부족해 .. I always learn and get much benefits from your videos ..Great respect and salute Sir Billy
Really appreciate these videos! It’s pretty easy to find a word that seems like it should express a meaning I want to be able to use, but learning about a word or phrase like this in the context of examples showing how it’s actually used makes understanding much easier!
Both words are the same normally in the meaning of 'together (with)', however, '같이' has another meaning of 'as / like' as conjunction or preposition grammatically. 나는 친구와 함께/같이 공부합니다. I study with my friend together. 그는 자기 아버지 같이 걷는다. He walks like his father. = 그는 자기 아버지 처럼 걷는다.

Hi Billy, if one were to use the 래요 form in a negative sentence (안 ~래요) what would the meaning be? That you don't want to do it and aren't going to do it, or you don't want to do it bit are still going to do it?

When meaning "together" they have the same meaning, but 같이 is also used separately as the adverb of 같다. 같이 is also more common.
