- Ukraine's Reserve Force is struggling to breakthrough in the Robotyne-Verbove sector. Meanwhile, units of the Marun Tactical Group are stuck in a fire bag. The Ukrainian 82nd Air Assault Brigade is losing valuable Strykers and Challenger 2s, while the 46th Air Mobile Brigade is facing mutinous units. Their troops are forced to form special "Task Forces" and mix up units to carry on the Offensive. Things might get more complicated with the arrival of two fresh Russian VDV Divisions to the front. These paratrooper regiments could be the sign of an impending Russian counterattack.

As a french citizen, it's very interesting to hear another version of how the counter offensive is running. I find it so interesting and telling that Oryx retired exactly at the moment Ukraine started using western tanks, APCs, IFVs, howizters and so on. Not as easy to portray them as "Russian losses" as with all Ukraine's lost T-64s, T72s, T55s, BMPs and so on. Basically before Ukraine received western tanks and APCs, 90%+ of the Oryx reported "Russian losses" in this department were actual Ukraine losses. Several times there was proof of doctored footage, adding Z or V in post production to videos and photos.

Truth is, the modern battlefield makes large movements of troops and armor nearly impossible for either side. The British, having depleted their tank stocks since '92, were never going to send more than 14. The only real purpose in doing so was to get other western countries to send their tanks.
Tbf, I'd take that figure with a grain of salt. I'd sooner trust a convicted perjurer before the Russian MOD. Having said that, admittedly that doesn't change the fact that the offensive has been a shitshow from day one.

Every time optimistic news about how the war will be won soon. But the reality is different. The frontline didn't really change much since november. Ukraine makes slow gains but nothing that will change the war. The only option I see is Russia to give up after Putins death. The Ukrainians won't stop so freezing the conflict won't be possible. It's very difficult any encirclements. The battlefield it's too small and both sides fill the territory with drones and satellites are concentrated in this area. It's almost impossible any operational surprise, only the grind will continue in this zone and this favour the Russian who are in the defensive behind prepared lines.
If they can threaten one and get Ukraine to retreat under fire that would be more than enough.
Yes, but thanks to the drones and other stuff. A spy satellite in low Earth orbit passes by in 2 minutes 20 seconds every 90 minutes (if passing straight over the target at ISS altitude and viewing angles less than 30 degrees over the horizon aren't helpful). 97% of the time the satellite spends orbiting the rest of the Earth. And they can barely be maneuvered into new orbits. Satellites aren't as helpful as in the Hollywood movies. They are great for tracking fixed locations over time, but not the thing to detect sudden movements along a front line, or in smaller scale at any particular site other than the few ones they have been programmed to observe and that happens to be very near their orbit.

Forbes first published an article about the Challenger 2 being one hell of a sniper rifle tank to excuse the Challenger's distance from the actual frontline only to report about the first one being destroyed not even 24 hrs later.

@@sodincDeployed? They started the offensive with 4 brigades. That's not a corps. And a true army corps is more than just a collection of large military tactical units. A corps has an own command structure, attached corps battalions (heavy artillery, heavy tanks, recon, engineers) and has relative autonomy on how to conduct the given task from high command. That's a difference from bundling up 7 brigades that still each receive their orders individually.
Ukraine realised that they needed a corps to make a dent and started to re-deploy brigades including strategic reserves.

The script for that channel is always the same. Russia has gigantic problems and is losing. Everything is wonderful in Ukraine. There is no mention of the loss of armored vehicles and soldiers. Unwanted comments under the video are instantly cleaned up. At the end of the video, there is an advertisement for junk with Ukrainian symbols to support the channel and the armed forces of Ukraine. The main message of the Western audience is to send more weapons and money.

Isn't this turning into a First World War type battle which is dominated by artillery with infantry defending strong defensive positions and the other side "going over the top", albeit in small numbers, and incurring huge casualties as a result? Drone warfare is a new even more terrifying concept for the foot soldier, coupled with far more accurate artillery fire than in WW1. It is also worth noting that the ukrainian advances after 3 months are just a small fraction of the advances made by the allies at the Somme in 1916 and that too failed to achieve a breakthrough.
Almost from the very beginning. The initial rush of Russian troops was probably carried out in the expectation that Ukraine would negotiate, recognizing the loss of Crimea and the special status of Donetsk and Luhansk. When it became clear that this would not happen, Russia simply withdrew its troops to the borders that it was able to hold with little bloodshed and systematically integrated the territories that had passed under its control into the Russian Federation. Boa constrictor tactics are a special style of Putin, a prudent, cold-blooded and cautious person.
And Russia in 1916 conducted a successful Brusilov breakthrough by General Brusilov, going (impressive for WWI) 120 km deep at 400 km wide front, despite Austrians and Germans had deeply entrenched positions. The key of success was all the armies of the front attacking at one moment at all directions.
Russia could go further but lack of communication between armies and other fronts halted the offensive.
So Russia has experience of such offensive and in this war such a breakthrough offensive is possible as well, but Russia will wait sone time until Ukrainian manpower degrade, be exhausted and depleted to the point when Russia could attack successfully, easier and with least number of casualties

Every sane military analyst concluded that this winter/spring/summer offensive failed about 2 months ago. The simple thing is that if they were not able to achieve any significant brake through in initial stage than it means that situation will only worsen from that point on. Right now they're expending the remnants of their offensive potential with little to no force to exploit any potential brake through left in reserve. Many say that there's a couple of weeks left in them. May be a little more. Lets see how it unfolds.

Then using drones, artillery, missile barrages, flame thrower systems, automatic mortars, mines, ground attack aircrafts, helicopters. This cause way bigger casaulties in infantry and equipment on the Ukrainian side.

Russia is prob buying tens of thousands of cheap drones from China. A skeleton drone can cost $300-$400 and can be equipped with cheap IR and thermal cameras and have a 5+km range.
They ordered to ramp up the production of their Lancet-3 drones months ago as well, which are also pretty cheap but yeah they seem to have a shitload of these cheaper modified drones that you are talking about. The ones being rained down on ukranian soldiers directly and not just IFVs and tanks
