Beautiful. And thank you for sharing. That’s why I’m sharing my own experiences on my channel. "Awareness cannot exist with duality, and mind cannot exist without duality. Awareness is non-dual, and mind is dual. If you go outwards you will move into the world of duality. If you go inwards you will move into the world of non-duality; you will become non-polar. Enlightenment is the realization of the non-dual. When there is I, it creates thou. When there is I it creates duality, and all is lost in duality. When there is no I, then there is non-duality. Then you are one with existence, utterly one. Then you are nothing but a pulsation of existence itself, just a ripple in the lake of this infinite consciousness. If you are divided in two, into man and woman, negative/ positive, darkness/light, mind/heart, thought/feeling - if you are divided in two, your energy will be going downward. Division is the way of the downward. When you are undivided, one, you start moving upward. To be one is to move upward, to be two is to move downward. Duality is the way to hell, non-duality is the way to heaven. These are the two planes of humanity: duality, the plane of duality, what Hindus call DWAITA, the plane of two; and non-duality, the plane of one, the plane of the non-dual. When you are divided you are in this world; when you are undivided, you have transcended - you are no longer here, you have penetrated into the Beyond. Then boundaries meet and the boundaries meet in you. So the whole effort is how to become undivided, how to become one. This has to be the criterion whether you have reached the goal or not. If there is still something as its polar opposite, you have not reached; you are still in the duality. One can move from one duality to another duality; it does not make any change. One has to move from duality to non-duality, because non-duality is the ultimate. The ultimate has no opposite to it. It is the final synthesis where all opposites have melted into one, when male and female have melted into one. REMEMBER, when we use the word ‘oneness’, that too is part of duality. If there is no duality how can there be oneness? That’s why Hindus never use ‘oneness’. If you ask Shankara, “What is the nature of existence?” he says, “Non-dual, ADVAITA, not two.” He will never say one, because how can you say one? If there is only one, how can you say one? One needs two to be meaningful. If there is no possibility of the second, of the two, then what is the use of saying that it is one? Shankara says, “At the most, I can say not two, but I cannot say positively one. I can say what the reality is not: it is not two. I cannot say what it is, because meaning, words, all become useless.” Enlightenment simply means you disappear, you become the whole. There is no question of separation or no separation. There is no question of oneness, because even the word `oneness’ hides behind it twoness. What do you mean when you say oneness? - you mean twoness. The mystics have avoided using the word `oneness’, but you cannot. In the very nature of intellectual understanding you can go a little roundabout - and that’s what people like Shankara have done. They talk about non-duality, no-twoness; they don’t talk about oneness. They want to indicate oneness, but they don’t want to use the word `oneness’ because oneness points towards twoness. Enlightenment means the point from where you take a jump into the non-dual. Before that point is duality. Everything is divided. Language creates duality, language exists through duality. It cannot indicate the non-dual. If I say ‘day’, immediately I create night. If I say ‘life’, immediately I create death. If I say ‘good’, immediately bad is created. If I say ‘no’, just by the side of the no, yes is existing. Language can exist only through the opposite. That’s why we see life as always divided - God and devil. Drop language, drop this linguistic pattern. Once language is no more on your mind and you look directly into reality, day IS night. Suddenly you will start laughing at why you missed it so long! Day, every day turns into night; night turns into day every morning again, and you have been missing. Life is always turning into death, death always turns again into life, and you have been missing. They are not two, they are one whole. This is the non-dual, ADWAITA. This is the most essential religion."
I’m glad you recognize my point - words will never be accurate as they are limiting. Even the word religion and the structure around it is limiting and makes it less. The word oneness is inaccurate as it too is limiting. This is why I said that a personal experience may be the only way to truly understand because it is only then that words are no longer needed and even the most talented philosophers cannot explain it because explanation requires words. Adwaita is beautiful.
@@JillMarieKelly I totaly agree ,i just made this conclusion way back at the end of my surch who took 20 years .In fact it's the disappearence of the seeker and what remains is not the presence of some one who understands but the absence of someone who doesn't understand .

I guess I'll be taking the Thomas route to belief, i.e. I'll believe it when I see it, which isn't as negative sounding as it appears, I simply mean... once I encounter the evidence and fully understand the nuances, then I'll embrace the belief.
That makes perfect sense! In fact, I believe it takes a direct personal experience of sorts for one to fully understand it because words don’t do it justice.
Yeah well... besides all that Jill, I'm deeply seeking the truth and I find I'm hearing too many conflicting answers which makes the search much harder than it should be! So you might respect I couldn't afford to take your belief entirely on board, but just as it is for the rest of us, all it is, is an opinion at the end of the day, unless you can fly or meditate yourself into invisibility while we witness it, but the best thing I got from your video was looking at your attractive face, you don't happen to have room in your life for a 70 year old cruiser do you? Take care!
@ exactly. I get it and have felt the same exact way tbh with you. It’s confusing to hear so many conflicting claims that this or that is the truth. It’s like, how do all of us “know” what we’re claiming? That was always my question, anyhow. But, this is why I now say I think a personal, direct experience of sorts - anything from an ahha moment that hits differently to an out of this world omg experience. An experience is just that - an experience. I can say that it IS easier than what it’s made out to be because you’re already all that you seek. It’s our self-made identities that mask that.
You know what? I actually believe you're right in what you say, only thing is, the Thomas in me has to see it for himself and I haven't reached there yet, I do believe I'm going to see something incredibly phenomenal when I get there, but I'm really struggling at fighting against the resistance right now, I've been fighting for the truth for over 40 years now and I know the resistance is strongly against this, so it's not surprising that I'm going through so much, might get there just before I enter the last snooze.
Actually, the mind is what’s between you and understanding non-duality. Beliefs are bad substitutes for experiences. I don’t think I would have believed or accepted non-duality as a belief system without experiencing an ego disillusion back when I was an atheist and ended up laughing the whole time on how short sighted I’ve lived my whole life identifying with my life story and forgetting that I created all of that! I would probably dismiss it as contradictory new age bullshit and a mere of wishful thinking lol I didn’t even know the term non-duality back then and had to search to understand what was that state of consciousness I have experienced where the separation between me and my environment almost didn’t exist and where I was not my strong opinions, fears, politics, wants or my look and where this realization that I am eternal and infinite came from. I was puzzled because that realization I’ve got during my ego disillusion was not a new information to me. It was just something I forgot. It was like, how could I forget something that obvious!! My first words after my mind came back was “ you don’t know what you don’t know” I don’t understand how some people can comprehend non-duality intellectually only. Their minds must be more open and creative than mine. Mine is annoyingly skeptic. Thankfully, I know now that I am not “him” lol
I can relate sooooo very much! I had the same experience of not knowing about non-duality or Advaita Vedanta prior to my experience. It took nearly two years between my experience and stumbling upon that terminology before I could even put it into words. I knew what I knew from that experience but had zero language available to try and help anyone looking for help. That is what birthed my channel-wanting to help others who may be seeking. I’ve listened to a few Advaita and Non-dual teachers and while I understand it perfectly-I contribute that only to having experienced it personally and directly. I always feel like they’re talking in circles never able to actually answer the questioner because it’s not possible for the questioner to fully grasp it without an experience and often the language used to describe it is not direct enough. But, I think the more people who share their experience the better. I’m actually writing a book that I’m hoping will help others who haven’t yet had a direct experience to become a little more aware of their ego and mind and open that door just a little so the ego can loosen its grip and they can see who they really are and stop identifying as their persona. Thanks for sharing your experience. What brought yours on?
@@JillMarieKellyyeah! There’s no any reference or earthly words! Some stuff can be only experienced, not explained. I was in an ayahuasca ceremony to debunk it but jokes on me lol Actually my second ceremony is tomorrow. I wonder how it will feel and what I will experience now I intellectually know the explanation. I think it’s gonna be different this time:) First time, the anxiety only came when my ego didn’t want to surrender. I was repeating my name, my address, my age, my birthday to hold on to what I naïvely thought constitutes who I am ,then the moment I surrendered , and I said “I will be back. I’ll be back” I realized the truth. This time I won’t be afraid to let go because I know it’s not real. But I like that first time I didn’t have any preconceived notions or anything to expect to the level that I didn’t even know the name of what I experienced because that eliminates the placebo effect entirely. I was not looking for a specific result or a specific experience from the ayahuasca. I was skeptic but open minded and had zero spiritual knowledge. I couldn’t stand what I thought of as “the fluffy language of spiritual teachers” I am on the spectrum so I’m very logical. I quit my family religion when I was 12 because my critical thinking skills are very dominant. I always say I kill my own buzz sometimes for truth seeking. One of the things that I cannot stand is when people believe stuff because they feel good not because they are true and when people don’t check the premises behind their motives to form a specific opinion. What I experienced was not a new knowledge, it was something I remembered and my mind doesn’t dare to doubt it because It knows what I experienced and it knows that it only took it one little drink to disappear. I can’t take my mind seriously anymore lol
"Nothing" is an illusion as there is an underlying unrealized potential energy that is sitting idle, producing no thing. Awareness arises first from this ocean of potential, not matter. From awareness we give rise to time/space and matter for the sake of experience. While this video is correct, don't over emphasize the idea that this world is not real, for your experience is VERY REAL to you.

I say nothing because I had no form, no gender, no memories, aspirations, no senses, etc. I was simply conscious awareness. I had no personal identity whatsoever. Great question!
Wonderful explanation of non-duality. Your understanding of the subject is perfect. That is why you are able to explain it in such simple terms that even a layman is able to understand the principles and practice of non-duality without the help of any other personal teacher or guru. In these days of RUclips a large number of people are able to understand and practice non-duality because great teachers have chosen to teach through this medium. However, some of them are charging some fees for their teachings. I am not sure whether you are able to obtain the necessary guru dakshina for imparting the impeccable knowledge to one and all without any discrimination. In the olden days the gurus used to receive some dakshina from their students. Only after payment of the dakshina the duty of the student was considered complete. Love your teachings and your simplicity which is the hallmark of every person who has achieved the state of non-duality.❤
This does depend on,words and numbers are a scaled down version of the limitation of mind ,duality is the observer and the observe[you] you are god in principle.nothing is all there is the final connection between you and the universe the universe ..nothing above so below just the illusion
Thanks for sharing your pov. I appreciate your pov and engagement. 🙏🏼
Nondualism has been around for thousands of years so no need to explain it. Talking, explaining just never does it. Its not an intellectual pursuit, even if you could get a degree in it...would be meaningless....you are a new kid on the block...one of many, this pandemic of new age nondual so called Advaita Vedanta teachers... With these podcasters often the messenger is more important than the so called message. Suggest read Ramana Maharishi etc, or give Robert Adams a look..his collected works...silence is eventually the seekers destination as it is the beginning and the end...
@@johndean8052 you’re right. Nondualism and advaita Vedanta is not new in any way. And I just found out it even existed within the past few months. And you’re 100% right that it could never be understood- it must be experienced - which is what I say in my video. It’s my goal to make videos using more direct language for this who are seeking and who don’t find the traditional dogmatic language helpful. After a direct experience, I assume one would have no need to watch videos or read books. I had no awareness of nondualism as a concept or of advaita Vedanta when I had my direct personal experience. So I now make videos to help people who may have also had experiences of nondualism but have no one to guide them to help them explain what they experienced. I am respectfully curious. What brought you to a non duality video?
All that we have to do is just let go and accept what is so?? Sorry! I've made it an occasional hobby listening to you NON DUALIST and your explanation uses the exact same wording as all of them, that to me FAIL miserably! When I pointed out that your belief system is no different to any religion that requires a leap of faith the last guru of ND said he won't answer me because I'm a NON Intellectual. I've looked into the face of the faithful who have excepted their religions answer to suffering and they all have the same look of ecstasy. Are you right or are they right? Often I hear that time doesn't exist, but to me it's what I believe. I'm talking about DEEP time, that is truly unfathomable to beings that live a mere 100 years at best, time is merely change and somehow life emerged and evolved and as sure as that has happened we also will surely die and our life processes stop and so will our awareness. I am old and except my coming death, I don't look forward to it but death is part of living, and to me there is no meaning to our lives except what we make of it for ourselves while we have life, only when we are gone we are just gone!!! I see no rational evidence for a heaven or hell, neither a mindless oneness what ever that is??

I cannot say what it is, because meaning, words, all become useless.”
Enlightenment simply means you disappear, you become the whole.
No
I’m glad you recognize my point - words will never be accurate as they are limiting.
There's no one moving from duality to non-duality .Duality and non-duality are both concepts .
@ truth. However, for those still seeking, words are required when they cannot be in presence.
@@JillMarieKelly I totaly agree ,i just made this conclusion way back at the end of my surch who took 20 years .In fact it's the disappearence of the seeker and what remains is not the presence of some one who understands but the absence of someone who doesn't understand .

When 'you' dissolve into the nothingness, you realize there is *_"somethingness"_* in that nothingness.
But that "somethingness" (of the nothingness) can't be described or defined because our mind cannot process it as it is beyond mind.
That "somethingness" is One's *_True (Self) Nature_* which neither comes nor goes, neither increases nor decreases.

Advaita Vedanta is a Hindu philosophy. But maybe because Hinduism and Buddhism have co existed for so long in same land, so things maybe in common. But it was given by Shri Adishankaracharya, a hindu monk and philosopher. 🕉🕉

Hi Jill Marie I do have a question during your experience do you felt omnipotent&omnipresent?
@@wolderufaelatelabachew1855 wonderful question. In that experience, I was everything and everyone. There was no loneliness because I was everyone. Not curious about anything because I was everything. I was All That Is. It was direct experience and realization of Atman Is Brahman although, at the time of the experience, I never heard that phrase before. Hope this answer helps. If I can help in any other way please let me know. 🙏🏼
Hi Jill Marie
When you say I was everyone do you felt that you were all peoples of the world?
@ of course. Everyone is everyone. All is all.
Thank you for your answer
@ of course. That’s what I’m here for.
@ so ask yourself this: what does Thomas believe should/will happen when it all clicks? And where did this belief come from?
Actually, the mind is what’s between you and understanding non-duality.
Beliefs are bad substitutes for experiences. I don’t think I would have believed or accepted non-duality as a belief system without experiencing an ego disillusion back when I was an atheist and ended up laughing the whole time on how short sighted I’ve lived my whole life identifying with my life story and forgetting that I created all of that! I would probably dismiss it as contradictory new age bullshit and a mere of wishful thinking lol
I didn’t even know the term non-duality back then and had to search to understand what was that state of consciousness I have experienced where the separation between me and my environment almost didn’t exist and where I was not my strong opinions, fears, politics, wants or my look and where this realization that I am eternal and infinite came from. I was puzzled because that realization I’ve got during my ego disillusion was not a new information to me. It was just something I forgot. It was like, how could I forget something that obvious!! My first words after my mind came back was “ you don’t know what you don’t know”
I don’t understand how some people can comprehend non-duality intellectually only.
Yyaaaassss!!!! 👏🏼❤️
Precisely! I kept the verbiage as simplistic and direct as possible for the sake of this video because it’s designed for those who feel they don’t quite understand the concept despite having heard all the standard philosophical teachings around it. Thanks for engaging with the community and hope to see you in here again. . I appreciate your pov. 🙏🏼
Can you explain once you were nothing. Why can you remember or explain the nothingnes. In other words in nothingnes is nothing to remember. Right?

Words cast spells
Words can be quite powerful
Very poor explanation, just frazes.

You say it's a "very poor explanation, just frazes" but at least it's not a very poor spelling of the word, "Phrases!"
Words are lies
That’s an interesting perspective. Words limit for sure and are dualistic in nature.
