Thank you so much for making these videos! I love getting all these interviews placed in one video!
Thank you for the perfectly done work
Awesome video, keep up the good work!
Love this channel. I am going to binge all your videos. Love all the information packed in these. And the length. Love it all. Thank you for this.
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
In my opinion I honestly believe that Miyazaki is the one of greatest artist of the modern age. The souls games genuinely feel like beautiful art to me and I know I’m not the only one. He has the mind of some of the greatest artists in history. When I learned Miyazakis story though your videos it inspired me. The fact that he flipped his entire life around at 30 years old makes me also want to pursue my dreams. Its never to late.
We share the same view. He is like the Cervantes or Milton of our times. I believe he is a living genius :) And his passion for creating games is unequaled.
@@dondonrvEspecially with Elden Ring imo. It's hard to describe the feelings that it gave me. Such a beautiful world, with the erdtree towering over everything. I think the best way to describe it is magical. Unlike the souls world, in Elden Ring the world isn't dying yet. I feel as if i'm at the end of the age of myths with the demi-gods still being around but decayed like Radahn Malenia, Rennala, Rykard, Godrick, etc. Miyazaki has made several masterpieces like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, and Armored Core 6. He is a true artist and his team at FS truly love what they do which is truly rare in modern day Triple AAA+ video game industry.
Miyazaki didn't make AC6,
@jakejimenez7048 Ah, right, it was the same guy who did Sekiro right? I forgot lol.
@@Foogi9000Miyazaki made Sekiro.
I’ve always wondered about the development of FromSoft’s games and feel so fortunate to have found your channel. I just want to say thank you for the time and effort you put into these videos. We all appreciate it!
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Same here. There's so much information here that I've never heard before
I lived in Tokyo through 2014-2016 and the excitement I saw and promotional material for Bloodborne was insane. Everyone was so excited for the game and as someone who never played a FS game before that point I didn't understand why it was so exciting. From the demos I saw in stores though the aesthetics and environments was strikingly horrifying yet intriguing. I never forgot what I saw and I'm excited to be playing it now for the first time on my PS5. The game is whopping my ass way more than Dark Souls 1 did lol!
Thanks for sharing! It's rare we get some insight like yours!
Pro Tip: Dodge foward, that's how the bosses revolves around
Man enjoy it! I played it the first time 2 years ago. Since then Ive played it about 5 times. One of my favorite games of all time
@wizzykin let me guess, Cummfpk chalice. If not then good to you
It's my first fromsoft title too I regretted buying it when cleric beast kept kicking my ass, I dropped it and never touched it for like 3 weeks. One day I'm recommended a vaati video about bloodborne, I watched 3 minutes and stopped the video to avoid spoilers. Those 3 minutes of vaati's video saved me from missing out on what is now my favorite game of all time and my favorite fictional universe.
I really love how they kept the cosmic horror secret from all the trailers n such as far as I know. I remember when the blood moon lowers and you start seeing the eldritch-esque entities for the first time and the story starts to deepen far beyond what you had expected. I all but literally soiled myself.
Agreed! Thanks for sharing! It transitioned from werewolves to aliens :)
I mean, they have items that mention the great ones in the first level of the game and the demo had amygdala prominently showed off.
I remember well asking myself “what the fuck is actually going on in Yharnam” 😂😂
@@iamscherzo😂😂😂😂
What’s cosmic horror
I honestly believe Bloodborne is high art
In a hundred years, this game will be considered the Mona Lisa of games, a Masterpiece!😊
This is such a fantastic series and I thank you dearly for it.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
My wife is not a gamer. She only played the witcher 3 and thats it. When i bought Bloodborne she watched me playing for an hour or something and asked if she can try. Of course i laughed at her... She killed the first cleric beast :/ We played the game for weeks and these were one of our best weeks ever. Bloodborne is truly a game for everyone like Miazaki said.
Thanks for sharing! Very interesting! :) Bloodborne is my personal favorite as well :)
You've raised the bar for game development history videos.
The quality and the breadth of research that went into making this must have been staggering.
Frankly I'm amazed you managed to produce this so quickly without cutting corners. Great job! 👍🏻
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Finally so hyped to watch this whole thing :) bloodborne is my fav from soft game
Thank you! :)
Bloodborne's development is so interesting to me.
Let's go! :)
i waited all day for this video. very excited as it's my favorite game and your video on dark souls 1 is incredible
Hope you enjoyed it!
Mannnn.. You are on a Hell of a ride of making some serious Quality Content.
Bloodborne holds a Special place in my Heart, in fact, This is 'THE GAME' of All Time for Me, no other game can come close to BLOODBORNE. Finally, I get to know some rare details about the Game I adore, forever.
Lastly, I just want to say you one thing, THANK YOU for making this. You are a Legend 🙌🙌.
My pleasure! Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Imbrued with blood
Thank you for your immense efforts in documenting the thoughts and words from our Lord and Savior Miyazaki Hidetaka! On a serious note, it is really amazing how you made all these videos and it felt like I was in the same room as Miyazaki when he did all these interviews. Never would have heard his inner thoughts pertaining the development and creation of all of these great games without your channel.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Oh hell yeah I’ve been waiting for this
Never stop what you’re doing dude, you’re one of the most underrated video essayists on RUclips
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
there is something special about the music in souls games.. and especially the bloodborne violin.. makes you want to dive right back in.. during christmas holidays.. you want to feel depressed, alone and scared.. in the world of bloodborn.. its addicting
When I finished Demon souls, your video is recommended. Now I just finished BB, your video is recommended again! Bless you! I love these documentary type videos
Loving this series man, can really see the care and dedication you've poured into it. Excited for this one, bloodborne is definitely my favorite of the souls games
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
The only thing better then Blooborne to ever come out is Bloodborne old Hunters DLC.
I love this game and that project beast trailer is what actually got me into the souls series, I looked into it so I went back and ended up playing Demons Souls and just been enjoying everything
Thanks for sharing! I tried Dark Souls and Demon's Souls.. and it was with Bloodborne that it clicked for me! :)
also bloodborn being your first teaches you how to play souls games in a more enjoyable fun way. shields engender passivity.
Another of the main inspiriations of bloodborne thats part of the victorian era is all the medical references. Bloodborne makes many references to victorian medical colleges and anatomy and it is a major part of the lore. There is a series on youtube called bloodbornes medical metaphor an agony of effort that goes into this in more depth.
Thanks for sharing! Very interesting!
I really respect Miyazaki a lot. In an industry that heaps praise on the director alone, Miyazaki makes it a point to always name drop members of the team or department that pulled off something incredible. And based on how he talks about focusing on a healthy work environment, he seems like a great boss that actually gets it. He’s not just a good director, he seems like a really good person.
Agreed! His humility and true passion for creating games shine through! :)
Love it! Have seen most essays on Bloodborne on RUclips and this was as refreshing as it was well made. Love your voice!
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
I already got the title for your sekiro video, "Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice, the making of Combat Refined To Perfection".
Haha... Agreed! That game has a very unique and exquisite combat! :)
Wow can't believe this is already up. You must work fast. I'm really looking forward to this one because its bloodborne. But I'm also excited for the future knowing which games are next. Anyway, great video as always and thank you truly for all the hard work you put into these quality videos.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Best video yet!! Love the extensive use of interviews about the game with Miyazaki and getting all of his insight on development and creative thinking. Can't wait for what's next!
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
love your continued work on the Making Of series. you do a wonderful job with the narration and intonations both in general and when you give different individuals varied voices, too. its very nice to listen to
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Man, looking at that 9:40 footage from E3 2014, I just can't imagine what a Bloodborne that looked THAT GOOD graphically would have been like. I guess downgrades were necessary for the performance of the game since it looked super ambitious effects wise, but MAN.
Agreed! A PS5 patch would be amazing...
Absolutely love bloodborne, I must be on the spectrum because even 8 years later i'm eager to learn everything down to the code. Certain it couldn't be replicated as now we would have expectations of a bloodborne 2
I complained in the past about the moving background of the presentation slides, and it felt very gratifying to see you'd moved on from them in your recent videos. I like to read along to your narration, it makes it easier to get all the information in one viewing, and it's helpful considering how nebulous Miyazaki can be. Very high quality documentary over all. It'll be a while yet but ooooh boy. Good luck on the Elden Ring video. I'm really looking forward to all your contributions. I've picked up Berserk simply so your video on its inspirations wouldn't spoil me the story. You're doing a ton of good for the fandom, thank you for all your hard work!
I would like to thank you as well (and others), who have given me feedback :) And thanks for the kind words! Much appreciated! :) (Enjoy the Berserk manga!)
Finally! This is probably my favorite game ever 🥳
Mine as well! :)
Still my favorite game of all time. I'm currently playing Elden Ring and loving it, but don't think any game will ever top bloodborne for me
My favorite as well! :)
Yo you're doing some amazing work! There's nothing like this out there
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
I really appreciate how you dive in to every aspect of the production and don't rush them. The soundtrack performed by Sweden Radio Symphonie Orchestra and the vocalist Sabina Zweiacker (one of my favorite vocal soloists) always give me shivers. So good! Thank you!
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :) (I'm currently doing the same for Elden Ring)
Yes, the inclusion of the symphony orchestra was perfect, gave me chills.
Haven't played it on the PS5 yet. NOW, I Have to!!! Great video! 😊
This was amazing! Subbed. Would love to see one on Sekiro
Thank you! :)
This was amazing to watched. Thank you for putting put this video and the hard work put into making this. Very much appreciated.
My pleasure! Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
someone give this channel an interview with Miyazaki!
Haha... my dream is to write his biography :)
@@dondonrv you're well on your way to that!
I feel like from softwares games are the ones closest to art in our medium ”within” our medium, so to speak. There are plenty of artistic games but they all seem to veer away from being games in essence. For me Fez, ED, Silent Hill1&2) & Bloodborne are our best examples for games as art. Im not sure this discussion is so important anymore as it was back in 2008 but I do feel that developers in general have forgotten the transcendental aspect of games more and more since those days.
Thank you so much for your hard work to give us insight into this brilliant artistic mind:
My pleasure! Thanks for sharing! My games as art are of course the Souls games, and then Ori, Hob, and BOTW.
Thank you for the time you spent on this. Hoping for a bloodborne remaster or bloodborne 2
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
I realy hope there will be a remaster! I got into Souls like Games two years ago! I played DS3 on Platin then Elden Ring droped and i fall in love! I wait for a remaster or remake! 30 FPS is realy hard now after 2 years playing on +60FPS! Thanks for this Video!
My pleasure! I am ok with a 60fps patch or a remaster or a spiritual sequel! :)
我认真的 并且用记笔记的方式来学习, 这对我的游戏项目帮助是巨大的。非常感谢你细致的工作.
Your work is astonishing, such a great documentary, thanks for this. Gonna watch all your other videos now. Subscribed.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
How is this channel not already on 100k, no 1m subs??? Been around since the start watching the berserk references and it still baffles me how this channel has not super exploded yet! So much effort and love goes into this channel and it's such a joyful moment when I get notified of a new release.
Haha.. I will be very happy to reach 10k subs :)
The issue is most likely SONY themselves they will not let go of the copyright and allow a port. Its the final well liked exclusive on a PS system that they can say is a serious exclusive. People have BOUGHT the system entirely to play the game. I'm proof I bought a used PS4 myself even JUST to play this game and it only. This game helps the selling of the PS5 probably as people may have bought one knowing this game could be played on it.
I bought a PS4 as well for Bloodborne! :)
Aaah... My first ever Fromsoft/Miyazaki experience. Truly a masterpiece!
I bought a PS4 for this! :) And it was where it "clicked" for me, after my failure with Dark Souls...
1:07:38
Bloodbourne is also my favorite Miyazaki...now make another one :).
If in some nightmare scenario, From is consumed by a megacorporation that killed it and Miyazaki decided to crowdfund his next game, whichever crowdfunding site he chose would meltdown instantaneously.
Hahah.. it's time to fund Miyazaki! :)
Love these documentary style deep dives, keep up the good work man
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
My first souls game! Bought it on release day. And never looked back. And bought. Ds 1 and 2 after that. And been a fromsoft fan ever sinds. Ds3 day one buy. Sekiro day 1 buy. Elden ring day 1 buy.
Haha..thanks for sharing! I bought a PS4 for this game! And it was my only game in the PS4 for a long while :)
I completely missed the hype for this game back then because Dark Souls 2 just killed my interest in souls-likes for a few years.
Haha..I think I can relate... after I failed with my first attempt at Dark Souls, I had no interest on Dark Souls II. Until I saw the trailer of Bloodborne and it reminded me of Afro Samurai, where duels are made with swords and guns! It was glorious! I bought a PS4 day one and waited for BB!
2:24:14 "A wild Sabaku No Maiku appears!"
Haha.. Yeah! :)
Its interesting that Miyazaki didnt mention Edinburgh as a direct inspiration, when its history of medical experimentation and many locations are clearly one of the core thematic inspirations.
Thanks for sharing! This is new to me as well! Very interesting! :)
@@dondonrv There's an absolutely outstanding series, delving into the historical inspirations for Bloodborne, made by a guy called Charred Thermos, but for some reason his channel was deleted. Thankfully someone has since re-uploaded it, with only a couple videos missing. It's very long, but I HIGHLY recommend watching the entire series asap as there's some of the most incredible insight to be gained and it might get removed again.
Just search for: "An Agony of Effort, The True Story of Bloodborne".
It explores the thematic inspiration of Edinburgh's dark medical history, particularly regarding autopsies (theorised to be the origin of having "eyes on the inside") and the pursuit of insight at the cost of one's humanity (i.e becoming beasts).
Ah, a charred Thermos enjoyer, sad his channel was disbanded
1:13:00 Miyazaki visited Romania for research purposes...
Agreed! Thanks for sharing! He visited Romania and the Czech Republic for research.
Even if they never make bb2....they need to return to gothic horror
Agreed! A spiritual sequel will do! (I wish for a South American Aztec setting..imagine the gore and blood and brutality and speed of the fights! Something unique and a little far from the sword-and-shield Souls games)
Im so glad i was around since 2009 when Demons Souls first launched. I got to experience all of From Softwares works at their launch.
Thanks for sharing! Most of us either joined during Elden Ring or Dark Souls 3, and for some, during Bloodborne. I started with Dark Souls and disliked it.. could not get pass through the tutorial boss!
@dondonrv Really? Not bragging or anything but the first boss in DS1 is a cakewalk. But its all about understanding the gameplay and many people werent used to it yet. I remember thinking Demons Souls was hard. How far we have come.
Haha...lol yeah! I tried fighting the first boss multiple times with the given weapon up to that point (not knowing the escape door) :) And then I gave up and disliked it... and Bloodborne came later on to bring me back to the Souls games!
@dondonrv ah. That makes sense, you kept trying to fight him. It's funny, how you're supposed to know to run away from him? Lol
Ehhh.... never played this game. I wish, one day we will get a PC port
You are a very, very lucky person! :) I hope you can play it someday!
Thanks!😊
I’m lucky to say I was there for the entire process. The Project Beast leak and eventual trailer. At the time all we knew was Dark Souls with guns! The hype was unreal
Thanks for sharing! I was there as well! :) I was looking forward to this "Afro Samurai"-like game that has swords and guns!
Jesus, you are the real beast here for puting so many amazing documentaries so fast, good job.
Haha.. Thank you! Much appreciated! :)
Been waiting for this one. I love the niche you've found with your storytelling. I didn't enter the fromsoft life until elden ring now I've beaten all of them but all of this is news to me and I love seeing the perspective of fans at the actual time of the drop.
Fantastic video as always.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Thanks for putting this together! Very well done, I hope you get the subscribers you deserve and I will be checking out your other videos.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
welcome good hunter, damm sony make sequel or remake already.
i had no idea that for the first 12 min of your video it was an intro but i was hooked. i haven't beaten the game but its on my todo list as awell as the rest of the fromsoft backlog
Haha... you noticed it! :) Yes, my intros are mostly 10+ minutes long... before the "This is the making of... " :)
It blows my mind that there is yet to be a remaster or a pc port. The demand is already there, so why not?
Haha... Sony waiting for PS6 I think! :)
The over riding sense that we are seeing the products of a genuine humble auteur is commendable.
Agreed! Thanks for sharing! :)
I don’t think they will ever do a Bloodborne 2 because if that trailer all of the sudden dropped the internet would break. Imagine a Bloodborne 2 in the style of Elden Ring. A giant open world where you explore decrepit gothic streets. Then there are giant gothic castles that are legacy dungeons. And smaller dungeons around random corners to explore.
I would honestly faint if they came out and announced Bloodborne 2.
Agreed! And framerate at 60FPS running on PS5!
One of the most intense and rewarding battle systems, ever. The trick weapons were fantastic! With their own personalities!
I would hate the size of the open world. I often got lost.
The GOAT game. One in a lifetime art direction. Greater than the sum of it's parts.
Edit: From the Insomniac leak it has been revealed as of Jan 2022, it sold 8 million units.
I've always been fascinated with the lore surrounding Souls games so this was a super interesting video! Thank you!
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
Still can't believe they haven't done anything with this game. Deserves a ps5 update more than most that have gotten one.
Sony knows there is a lot of demand for Bloodborne and is being strategic about it :)
There isnt a day that goes by where Bloodborne is not talked about....Shame Sony never takes notice!!!!
I think a Remake is coming :) (Though I just want a 60pfs patch for the original)
I think it’s good that they don’t take notice. It would be ruined if they made a second game, but I wouldn’t mind a game where you go to ailing loran before it sunk into the sand
But oddly why isn't there anything related to BB PS5 upgrade or PC port yet?
Haha..yes, even just a FPS patch for Ps5 would be awesome!
Anyone else noticed Amygdala chilling on the building starting at 43:50? Intentional or not, seeing that at the time this footage was released would have given me quite the willies.
Always a joy to watch your vids. This one was intruiging especially when Miyazaki explained his themes, game design and approach to game directing in the interviews.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
While Dark Souls is my most loved, Bloodborne was my first FromSoft game. I always enjoy reading the interviews in the Design Works of these games, but watching your incredible documentaries on the making of them is something else!
Thank you for all your hard work in giving me more insight (;-p) into some of my favourite games 🙂
My pleasure! Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Bloodborne was my first From and now is my second fave after Sekiro
Desperately want a BB2. No Souls game or souls-like has quite scratched the itch like Bloodborne did for me. Lies of P wasn't a bad like, but lacked the simplicity of the combat, and didn't have the appeal of weird eldritch beasts. If nothing else, I just want a PC release of BB. Would love to 100% her again.
Bloodborne, my favorite as well! :)
Why From Software’s animation is so good? They always nails it.
Thanks for sharing! (Regarding your question, I believe it's because they prioritize gameplay first above everything else) :)
totally agree with you and they don't give a damn about what people say. They just want to make games they love. And that's why their games are so good. @@dondonrv
Yes! And fortunately, Miyazaki does not also prioritize monetization and does not avoid taking risks (otherwise he would not conclude the Dark Souls series, and would just keep spitting out a new Dark Souls entry every 1.5 years) His resignation from Oracle, leaving his secure job, and taking the risk of starting fresh is truly symbolic to what he will be in the future (and what kind of company President he will be) He even have the guts to make contact with George RR Martin (our future video!)
I wish Miyazaki and blizzard would put together a team and do a souls version of a diablo 1 remake
Haha... Very interesting! Would that isometric or third-person? :)
@dondonrv third person for sure imagine pulling the levers for diablo and then having to face him down and he's huge like the cleric beast plus it would make the tunnels harder to see around
I can already imagine that haunting music of Diablo I with a third-person perspective... it's a match made in Hell! :)
Oh baby it's finally here! This game has a special place in my heart for getting me into Souls and FromSoft games in general. To this day, Bloodborne is the most intriguing and atmospheric game I've ever played. I want to know every single thing there is to know about it.
Haha.. same! Thank you! :)
A Masterpiece!
An Experience NOT to be missed, if you claim to be a gamer! Find a Way.😊
I’d just like to say, I’m going to have an aneurism and die from excitement when Shadow of the Erd Tree finally releases. I’ve played through ER like 9 times but I’m not touching it again until the DLC drops, so I can do a full new playthrough from scratch. I hope the DLC adds a new ending to ER.
That's the passion! :)
dark souls is insanely good, when i played i was full of joy and awe, I could not believe this game existed. so good.
23:03 yeah this is how Lords of the Fallen failed very badly.
I'm only familiar with the original Lords of the Fallen and I'm pretty sure that one fails hard :) Thanks for sharing! (I have not looked into the new one because I no longer believe I can play/like other games that try hard to mimic the Souls games as though they were made by Miyazaki and FromSoftware. But those games like Hollow Knight, etc.. I like those.)
I remember Project Beast leaks on /v/ and anons flat out REFUSED to believe it was real.
There is games with higher frame rate and better graphics, games with better combat system, better bosses and even weapons, games with better level design and games that are much more welcoming to a new player, but I GENUNELY think that this is the greatest work of art I have ever experienced, and therefore the best game as well
I share the same view! With Bloodborne, it all culminated beautifully into one! The epitome of a Souls game :)
incredible content as always! thanks for all the hard work! can't wait to watch this page continue to grow
My pleasure! And thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
Being bloodborne one of my favorite games of all time, i felt back the excitement that i had back then when i watch all those trailers and now learning the motivations behind the game, only reafirms my belief that Bloodborne is one of those specials games that only exist thanks to very passionate devs.
Thank you.
My pleasure! Thank you! :)
Amazing content, the quality and attention to detail is insane. Here´s hoping you blow up soon, you deserve it.
Thanks for the kind feedback! Much appreciated! :)
1:59:30 i feel so fucking dumb for not being able to recognise this but knowing ive heard it before because during boss fights im not really paying too much attention to the music getting drowned out by me spamming the R1 key and making noises like PSH-PSH=PS-PPSSSHhRR fFuaaUauAUUA..... .... .. .. BWAK PSHPSHPSHSPPSHSPSH
Haha.. thanks for sharing! The music of Bloodborne is really something else! My favorite is that of Laurence, the First Vicar. I feel that there is a great story there inside the Latin lyrics :)
Lads, we are living in what the future will call the golden age of gaming.
Enjoy the ride. Thank you FromSoft.

I am hoping for a Spiritual successor! :)
