Parliamentarians helped foreign agents meddle in Canadian politics

  • On June 3, 2024, The National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians tabled a special report in the Canadian House of Commons regarding "Foreign Interference in Canada's Democratic Processes and Institutions." The report concludes that some Parliamentarians engaged as "participants in the efforts of foreign states to interfere in our politics."
    Says CBC News, "[the]...report paints a stark picture of foreign interference in Canadian politics, characterizing the government's response as a 'serious failure' that could impact the country for years to come."
    Amongst the countries identified are China and India. The report also says India interfered in an unspecified Conservative Party leadership race.
