    A couple things I noticed they didn’t mention. The Farpoint/Fairview (the women’s version) 55 main bag is still 40L, and the same dimensions as the 40L version, meaning that it is carry on sized when separated. The day pack at 15L acts as your personal item, and is also where the laptop sleeve and water bottle pockets are located. It seems strange not to talk much about such a significant portion of why you choose the 55L version of this bag in this video, as everyone who is buying this bag is doing so for the daypack, otherwise they buy the 40L which has more features. All Farpoint and Fairviews are also compatible with several of the Daylite series of backpacks as well. I am looking at the Farpoint 40L and a daylite of some variety as the 40L brings the laptop closer to your back for better carrying (at the loss of some internal volume), and has its own external water pockets, so it’s more useful on its own than the 55L split up is. The other thing I didn’t hear is mention of Osprey’s All Mighty Guarantee. It covers anything that ever happens to your bag, they will fix or replace. I have worked with customers who’ve had thrashed bags replaced by the warranty program, it’s totally worth the Osprey premium.

      Thank you for your detailed comment, Sean! We sort of view the 55 as a stripped-down version of the 40. For some people, the system will work excellently. Others might miss that organization, though! Again, thanks for the detailed insights.

    Very interesting.. one reason I bought Farpoint 55 is because of the Daypack.
    I'm a computer network engineer and may need to work while traveling (yep, too bad ^_^). Keep my laptop in a small daypack so I can easily use my laptop without open the larger beg is the best thing.

    i just got this bag i blue yesterday. I did a mock pack-up with the fair amount of clothes that i had with me for the week. i think its comfortable and you dont really feel the weight of it on your back. i did buy two sets of osperys packing cubes (s/m/l) and everything i had with me fit just fine. i travel a lot with work (truck driver) and will used this bag(s) for when i take time off and for when i go on trips, weekend or week long. i specifically bought it because it had the second pack, although it doesnt pack into itself, it is a second pack big enough for small essentials, a jacket, umbrella and some other things as needed. i going on a 7night cruise in june to norway and will be taking this all with me

    Top tip: if you really want a removable daypack (a must for me while traveling) then get the 40L backpack and a matching color daypack separately. This way you get the extra features of the main backpack (including the better placement of the laptop compartment).

      i think i will do this kind of pack instead the 55. Farpoint 40 + Farpoint / daylite daypack

    I have the Osprey Farpoint 55 and I love it. I use the main bag like a suitcase with all of my clothes and stuff and the daypack is where I put all of my tech, toiletries, and ect so when I go through tsa I’m not digging in the main bag for stuff. I also keep it in front of me so I can keep an eye on it and it kinda helps balance the weight of the main bag if it’s really full.

      does the daypack with your laptop etc clipped on pull you back or feel like its hanging?

    • @Snowman11054
      @Snowman11054 10 месяцев назад

      @@velyvely6479 when the day pack is clipped on the front it actually stays in place pretty well even if I have to hurry to a gate. If I placed it in the back of the bag the weight is 8 to 10 inches from my back so you can definitely feel it but in the front it balances the weight from my main bag nicely and I feel like it really released stress on my back because I can stand upright and not have to lean forward to compensate.

    The whole point of this bag is the day pack and larger bag in one. Skipping over the day pack makes this video useless.

    How about opening up the 15l and showing the laptop packing...

  • @idng1908
    @idng1908 7 месяцев назад +2

    I thought the 55L was the same bag as the 40L with the added 15L, now I see the 55L doesn't have the laptop compartment, which translates into more usable space.
    I will need to invest into the 55L even tho I will never use the daypack

      My thoughts exactly as the daypack shape is made for the main bag, it isn't suitable for short people being skinny and tall to wear on the front. I'd rather buy a daypack shaped more square like kanken that fits my petite body and won't be in the way. Does anyone know if it is lighter and gives more room than the 40 litre because removing laptop sleeve? Even if its one litre for me its worth it as 40 litres is so small for long travel. Hard toss up between porter 46 and 40litre but I like look of the 40 litres.

    지난달 배낭 여행에서 트래킹 배낭인 오스프리 캐스트롤48을 이용했는데 편하고 가벼웠지만 너무 많은 주머니에 도리어 헤깔렸고 물건을 꺼내는데 전면 오픈이 아니어서 몹시 불편했어요. 이 리뷰를 보고 파포인트55를 추가로 구매했는데 완벽히 장점은 비슷하고 단점은 해결되었어요. 좋은 리뷰였습니다.

    I’m 6’3” and I measured 22-23. I want to have a bag I can carry on and not have the check for my South America and Amazon trip. Do you think I can adjust this pack enough to fit me or will it just be too small. Thanks

    with the daypack on it just screams turtle lol but without it looks decent, i think they should have added atleast one zipped pocket to the outside of the bag for when / those who don't want to use the daypack, i imagine a laptop and waterbottle hanging off the back not to be idea for long use. really like the blue accent colour inside

      See my comment above for more details and my professional disclaimer, but the 40L with a compatible daypack might be a better solution for you.

    I have the Fairview 55L and I got it by mistake thinking the main bag would be the same as the 40L which it isn't 😅 Anyway, many regrets and doubts later I have actually come to LOVE the main pack of the 55L and how huge and simple it is and how much it can fit. However, I hate the day pack and everything I hate about it (the useless water bottle pockets, how all pockets dig into each other and eat into each other's space) is a feature on the 40L. I have ended up being very grateful I didn't get that one in the end.

      I accidentally made the same error, and I unfortunately have only come to realise my mistake after the returns period had passed and that’s when I actually started packing for my upcoming trip. I thought I was buying the 40L that’s in the majority of the osprey reviews. So far I really dislike the 55, the daypack is not worth it at all, it’s very stiff and I personally won’t be bringing any tech stuff so the sleeves in the daypack serve absolutely no purpose for me. I think I could fit more comfortably into the 40 than this 55. Hugely disappointed.

      that's my plan in May of 2025, already purchased this did a mock packing session and loved it. my only concern is th day pack, might leave that at home as I know filliing with laptop and camera gear would be hard to carry on front and on the back, so I might bring a Cotopaxi 24L backpack for my camera, drone, laptop, etc.
